On a Schlage Encode Plus, tap the lock icon on the outside keypad to lock the door. From inside, turn the thumbturn toward the door edge. Other Schlage models may work differently, so check your lock’s model and guide if these steps do not match.

Lock it with the Schlage Home app
For supported locks, the Schlage Home app can lock the door remotely. First confirm that your model is supported and that the lock is set up in the app. Schlage describes the app’s supported-lock controls and features on its Schlage Home app page.

Set up automatic relocking
Some Schlage smart locks can relock automatically after they are unlocked. The feature and its timing depend on the model and settings. For example, the Schlage Sense user guide says auto-lock is disabled by default and, when enabled, relocks 30 seconds after unlocking. Schlage’s guidance for supported locks describes adjustable delays from 30 seconds to four minutes. Check the guide for your specific model before relying on a delay.
Check your Schlage model
Schlage publishes separate digital guides for models including Encode Plus, Encode, Connect, Sense, and Arrive. Do not assume the Encode Plus keypad procedure applies to another lock. Find the model on the lock or its documentation, then use Schlage’s smart-lock guide index to select the matching instructions.
