To limit how often Make starts an instant-trigger scenario, set Maximum runs to start per minute in the scenario’s Schedule settings or from the lightning icon on its instant trigger. Choose a rate based on the screenshot provider’s quota: Make does not set one universal per-minute limit for requests sent to third-party screenshot APIs.
First identify which service is rate-limiting you
A 429 response from a screenshot endpoint usually means the screenshot provider has rejected a request for exceeding its limit. Make describes its RateLimitError as corresponding to HTTP 429, but notes that third-party apps may not always use that convention. Check the response from the screenshot provider and its documentation to confirm the limit and how it resets.

Make’s organization-plan limits for the Make API apply to calls made to Make’s own API; they do not automatically limit requests your scenario sends to a separate screenshot service. Make Developer Hub lists Make API limits of 60 requests per minute for Core, 120 for Pro, 240 for Teams, and 1,000 for Enterprise. Those are Make API limits, not screenshot API quotas, and current plan details should be confirmed with Make.
Set a start rate for an instant-trigger scenario
- Open the scenario in Make.
- Open the instant trigger’s settings using its lightning icon, or open the scenario’s Schedule setting in the toolbar.
- Set Maximum runs to start per minute to a value below the screenshot provider’s applicable quota.
If each scenario run makes exactly one screenshot request, the run-start limit can help keep those requests under the provider’s rate. If a run makes multiple captures, or other scenarios share the same provider account, account for those requests too. As a practical starting calculation, divide the safe per-minute request budget by the expected captures per run, then leave room for other scenarios and traffic. This is a planning method, not a Make-guaranteed formula.

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Make says incoming requests above the configured rate are queued for gradual processing. Limiting scenario starts does not necessarily create an exact interval between every HTTP operation inside a run; a single run can still send several requests close together.
For scheduled scenarios, spread out the work
If the scenario runs on a schedule rather than an instant trigger, reduce the volume handled in each run or make runs less frequent. Use the module’s Limit field where available to process fewer records, or increase the interval between scheduled runs. Make recommends processing up to 20 records per run as a strategy for frequent scheduled runs; that is general Make guidance, not a quota guarantee for a particular screenshot provider.

Choose the setup based on the workload:
- Requests must react quickly: use an instant trigger and limit how many runs start each minute.
- Requests can wait: schedule smaller batches farther apart to avoid bursts.
- One run creates a burst: reduce captures per run or add pacing between the calls inside it. A scenario-start limit alone may not spread those calls out.
Lower request volume before adding delays
Reducing unnecessary captures is often preferable to slowing every request. Where the destination supports it, use a bulk action; otherwise, aggregate bundles where appropriate or avoid recapturing unchanged pages. Make documents bulk actions and aggregators as ways to reduce requests. Check that batching is supported by your particular screenshot integration or endpoint.

Use delays, retries, and sequential processing carefully
Make’s Sleep module can delay a request by up to 300 seconds (5 minutes), according to the Make Help Center. Make illustrates the setting with an API capped at 10 requests per minute and a six-second delay between requests; this is an example, not a general screenshot API limit. A Sleep step can help pace calls, but Make cautions that it may only delay a burst rather than solve its underlying cause.

For recurring rate-limit errors, inspect the provider’s response and current API documentation before setting a delay or retry strategy. Incomplete executions can retry rate-limited work with gradually increasing intervals. Do not assume Make honors a particular provider’s retry header unless that behavior is documented for your integration.
If concurrent instant executions are contributing to bursts, consider sequential processing. Make’s documentation says a scenario waits for an active run to finish before starting another when sequential processing is enabled. This can reduce overlapping work, but incomplete executions involving errors can pause processing; use it only if that trade-off fits the workflow.

Check the limits that apply to your setup
- Identify the screenshot provider, endpoint, and account plan, then confirm the relevant per-minute quota and reset behavior in its documentation.
- Count captures per scenario run, including retries and any additional requests made by the integration.
- Check whether other Make scenarios use the same provider account and share its quota.
- For a native Make integration, review its usage reporting and how it exposes provider errors.
Make lists a verified GetScreenshot integration with actions for page screenshots, element screenshots, and API usage. Its presence does not establish the limits or request behavior of other screenshot providers.

- The screenshot API returns 429: verify the provider’s quota, endpoint-specific rules, and reset behavior. Lower the scenario’s start rate or batch size, and account for other workflows using the same account.
- 429s continue after limiting scenario starts: a run may make several captures, or another scenario may be using the quota. Count requests per run and check shared usage.
- Requests still arrive in bursts: a per-minute scenario-start setting does not guarantee spacing between operations inside a run. Reduce captures per run or add pacing between requests.
- The scenario backs up: queued requests are being processed gradually. Reduce incoming volume, increase the schedule interval, or process fewer records per run if the delay is not acceptable.
- Retries do not resolve the problem: inspect the provider’s response and its current documentation; confirm the retry behavior for the specific Make integration rather than assuming it follows a particular header.
- Make API limit appears in a plan reference: distinguish calls to Make’s API from screenshot requests sent to the external provider. The two limits are not interchangeable.
