You can delete Meta AI voice recordings and review the privacy controls in the Meta AI app, but Meta’s published guidance does not describe a universal switch that excludes all smart-glasses information from all AI training. Meta says deleted recordings will not be used for future training; it also says deleting them does not immediately change a model that may already have learned patterns from that information.
What you can do in the Meta AI app
Open the Meta AI app and review its current privacy controls for captures, voice, notifications, and information shared with Meta. Meta says these preferences and information-management options are available in the app, but its guidance does not give a reliable step-by-step menu path. Labels and availability may vary by app version or region, so use the controls shown in your account rather than relying on an assumed path.

Look specifically for an option to delete Meta AI voice recordings. Meta says users can delete these recordings and states: “However, your information itself will be deleted and once it’s been deleted, it won’t be used for future training.” Meta also cautions that the model will not change immediately after deletion if it has already learned patterns from the information. Meta’s responsible innovation FAQ describes these effects.
Capture on the glasses is different from using Meta AI
Taking a photo or video is not the same as asking Meta AI to process it. Meta says gallery photos and videos stay on the glasses until the wearer chooses to import them to a phone. The wearer may also choose whether to use Meta AI or share captured material; Meta does not say that every capture is automatically posted or uploaded for AI. Meta says the glasses’ capture LED signals when the camera is recording. That indicator is not a training opt-out. Meta also says second-generation glasses disable the camera if the system detects that the LED is blocked. Neither point establishes whether information is used for training.
What deletion does—and does not—promise
- Future use: Meta says deleted voice-recording information will not be used for future training.
- Already learned patterns: Meta says deletion does not immediately change a model that may have learned from the information.
- All glasses-related data: The cited guidance does not establish that deleting a recording, changing one app preference, or leaving a capture on the glasses excludes every type of glasses-related information from all training.
