To unlock “I’m the bird now” in How to Fish, place one dynamite bundle directly beneath your boat while it floats in open water, move well away, then detonate it. The boat should launch into the air; a third-party walkthrough reports that it survives the blast. The exact trigger is not documented by the developer, so treat this as a community-tested method rather than an official procedure.
Get dynamite on Island 2
NerdsChalk’s 2026 walkthrough says dynamite is sold at the Island 2 shop for $25. The independent How to Fish Wiki identifies the location as the Forest shop and places the purchase after you obtain the boat by completing the Spider Crab hand-in. The price and progression details come from the walkthrough, not a developer-published shop record.

Launch the boat with dynamite
- Unlock the boat and board it.
- Travel to Island 2, also described as the Forest, and obtain one dynamite bundle.
- Take the boat into open water and leave it floating; do not beach it.
- Place the dynamite directly underneath the hull. A charge beside the boat may push it sideways instead of lifting it.
- Move well clear before detonating. Both guides warn that a nearby explosion can kill your character, but neither specifies a safe distance.
- Detonate the bundle and look for the boat to rise out of the water and the “I’m the bird now” achievement notification.
NerdsChalk reports that the blast launches the boat without destroying it. The achievement requirement is described as “Make your boat fly”; no official airborne-height threshold is specified.

If the boat does not launch
- Check the placement: Put the charge beneath the hull, not next to it. Both guides emphasize this as the key difference between lifting the boat and pushing it sideways.
- Check the boat’s position: Leave it floating in open water rather than on shore.
- Try again only from a safe position: Move well away before each detonation; the guides do not establish a precise safe radius.
Is there another way to make the boat fly?
The wiki mentions a less-established alternative: fit the fastest engine and drive into a wave, slope, or shoreline ramp to try to send the boat airborne. It gives no official threshold or guarantee that this will trigger the achievement. The dynamite method is the more clearly supported option because both guides describe placing a charge beneath the hull, while only the wiki mentions the driving approach. No engine-upgrade price is established in these sources.
