If Sky Q says “No satellite signal,” the satellite feed is interrupted; that is different from a TV showing “No signal” or “No input,” and from a distorted picture. Check the exact message first, then use Sky’s matching error guidance. Do not assume that broadband-outage advice explains what works during a satellite outage: Sky’s guidance on broadband loss does not establish whether recordings or live channels remain available when satellite reception fails.
Identify which signal has failed
Sky groups “No satellite signal,” a TV’s “No signal” or “No input” message, and a broken or distorted picture as different symptoms. The distinction matters: a blank screen alone does not establish that the dish is at fault. Compare what you see with Sky’s no-satellite-signal help page, and note the wording exactly as displayed.

You can also enter that wording in Sky’s error-message lookup, which includes “No Satellite Signal” as a Sky Q error category. The available no-satellite page is a symptom selector; it does not provide detailed restoration steps here, so follow the current instructions shown by Sky rather than trying unverified resets or dish adjustments.

Satellite reception carries broadcast channels; broadband supports connected features and downloads. Sky says a main Sky Q box can still provide live TV and recordings when broadband is lost, though many connected features are limited. That statement applies to a broadband outage—not to a satellite interruption—and does not guarantee playback during loss of satellite reception. See Sky’s broadband connection guidance for the broadband-specific details.
#1 Best Overall
- This amplifier is DC passive, no need for separate power supply, provides up to 20dB gain to minimize signal loss caused by in-line devices or long cable runs.
- Suitable for all satellite applications(If you are not sure is it fit your part, please feel free contact to us).
- This signal amplifier works with every satellite system in the market.
- Suitable for RG6 cables running over 50 FT, please note the installation position of line amplifier is very important. Usually, we are installed it in the position of signal decreasing gradually, the distance is within 38 inch.
- If you are not satisfied with our products, please contact our customer service.
Downloads require internet access. If the issue is a download rather than a missing satellite feed, check the box’s broadband and internet connection status using Sky’s on-demand download guidance.
What to expect from recordings
Do not assume a scheduled or saved recording will play normally while satellite reception is interrupted. The cited guidance about recordings remaining available covers broadband loss, not loss of satellite signal, and does not settle recording playback in this situation.
Sky’s recording guide explains that programmes can be scheduled from the TV Guide up to seven days before broadcast, and that simultaneous recording limits depend on the box model. Those are ordinary feature details, not a guarantee that a recording will complete during a satellite interruption. If a recording is missing or incomplete after reception returns, use Sky’s recording-problems guidance; an interruption alone does not prove the recording was erased.
Possible causes and the safe next step
A Sky Community superuser—not a Sky employee—lists heavy rain, dish misalignment, a failing LNB, and water in cabling as possible explanations for persistent satellite loss. These are possibilities, not a diagnosis of your installation. Heavy rain may coincide with a signal problem, but the cited guidance does not establish the cause in any individual case. See the community discussion at Sky Community.

- Record the exact on-screen message and whether the picture is absent or distorted.
- Use Sky’s error lookup and follow the current guidance for that symptom.
- If reception remains interrupted, arrange an appropriate service route rather than climbing to or adjusting a dish, replacing an LNB without diagnosis, or buying a generic signal booster.
If your building has a communal dish
The Sky Community superuser advises customers with a communal dish to contact their building manager or landlord, who may have an approved engineer. Shared equipment may not be yours to adjust or arrange repairs for directly.
If your dish is private
The sources do not establish one repair route for every privately owned installation. If Sky’s current troubleshooting does not resolve the fault, contact Sky or a suitably qualified local installer for assessment. A particular cause should be confirmed before paying for replacement equipment or repair.
