The best setup depends on what closes securely and fits the amount left. There is no universal after-opening duration established by the cited guidance. Oregon State University Extension’s 2023 table gives approximately 8 months for cupboard storage of crackers and says to keep them tightly closed. Treat that as an approximate quality estimate, not a precise opened-package guarantee or a food-safety deadline; follow the product label and use the crackers’ condition as well as the date.

Can you crisp up crackers that have gone soft?
Washington State University Extension’s Pacific Northwest Extension publication suggests heating a softened item on a cookie sheet for a few minutes in a 425°F oven to restore crispness. When should you discard crackers?
