How to Keep an XSplit Broadcaster YouTube Stream Running After the Playlist Ends

Change the XSplit Video Playlist’s Play mode from Once to loop forever, then manage the YouTube broadcast separately.

Set the Video Playlist source’s Play option to loop forever in XSplit Broadcaster. The playlist’s repeat setting controls the videos; it does not start or end the YouTube broadcast. To keep the stream live, start the YouTube output and leave XSplit running.

Set the playlist to repeat

  1. In your active scene, select Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist.
  2. Open the Video Playlist source properties, choose Add, and select the video files stored on your computer. Arrange them in the order you want, then save the source.
  3. In the playlist’s Play property, select loop forever. XSplit documents Once as the default; it also offers custom to play more than once for a chosen number of repeats. See XSplit’s Scene Widgets guide and Creating a Video Playlist guide (updated November 8, 2022).

The setting applies to the Video Playlist source, not to the YouTube event. When one file ends, XSplit can proceed through the playlist and repeat it according to the selected mode.

Start the YouTube broadcast separately

  1. Start the YouTube output in XSplit Broadcaster. If Manual Transition is checked, XSplit’s guidance says you must also click Go Live in YouTube Studio after starting the output. The scheduled-stream guide says Manual Transition is checked by default; if it is unchecked, XSplit says Start Broadcast starts the stream automatically. Consult XSplit’s Streaming to YouTube Live and scheduled-stream guide (the latter updated November 8, 2022) if labels or workflow differ in your version.
  2. Leave XSplit’s output running. Do not choose the command to end the active livestream just because a playlist item has finished. XSplit’s scheduled-stream guidance says confirming the prompt to end the live event also ends the associated YouTube stream.

XSplit Broadcaster is Windows software, according to the XSplit Broadcaster product page. The reviewed support pages describe the playlist controls generally and do not state a minimum version.

If the stream stops or the playlist does not repeat

  • The playlist plays once and ends: Open the Video Playlist source properties and check Play. Change Once to loop forever, or choose custom and set the repeat count you need.
  • The playlist repeats, but YouTube is not live: Check that you started the YouTube output. If Manual Transition is enabled, open YouTube Studio and click Go Live.
  • YouTube ends when you stop XSplit: Starting an end-broadcast command and confirming its prompt ends the associated YouTube event. Keep the output running when you only want the playlist to continue.
  • Your menus look different: The guides cited here do not specify a required version. Check the equivalent Video Playlist source properties in your installed version.

The documented controls explain playlist repetition and broadcast start/end behavior; they do not establish uninterrupted operation or automatic recovery after a PC, network, or encoder failure.
