It depends on the type of StreamYard broadcast. A scheduled standard live show does not start on its own: StreamYard’s documented setup requires you to enter the studio and click Go Live. Its guide does not say what happens if you close the browser after that show is live, so you should not assume the broadcast will continue. If your video is recorded in advance, StreamYard’s scheduled pre-recorded workflow is designed to start at the chosen time while you are offline and end when the video finishes.
First, identify which kind of broadcast you mean
StreamYard has separate workflows for a live studio show and a scheduled pre-recorded video. Scheduling a standard live show creates an announcement; it does not start the broadcast. By contrast, a scheduled pre-recorded video can start automatically without the host being online. The two workflows are not interchangeable.

| Workflow | How it starts | What happens while it runs | How it ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard live studio | You enter the studio and click Go Live, including for a scheduled show. | The cited setup guide does not establish whether the show continues if you close the browser after going live. | The guide describes ending the broadcast from the studio; it does not establish browser-close behavior. |
| Scheduled pre-recorded video | It starts at the selected time even if you are offline. | It runs automatically, not under live studio control; you cannot control overlays and media assets from the studio while it is running. | It ends when the video finishes. |

If you need a live, interactive studio show
Use the regular StreamYard studio workflow and keep the studio available rather than relying on browser closure as a way to keep the broadcast running. StreamYard’s instructions establish that you must enter the studio and click Go Live to start; they do not confirm what happens to an already-live studio broadcast when its browser closes. That specific outcome is therefore uncertain based on the cited instructions.

- 15 Customizable LCD Keys: instantly control your apps, tools and platforms.
- One-Touch Operation: trigger single or multiple actions, launch social posts, adjust audio, mute mic, turn on lights, and much more.
- Visual Feedback: know that your command has been executed.
- Powerful Plugins: Elgato 4KCU, OBS, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, and many more.
- Hotkey Actions: streamline your film editing, music production, photography workflow, etc.
- Connect the intended YouTube channel. In StreamYard, connect the account or channel you plan to use and check that the channel is eligible to live stream. StreamYard notes that channel owners and Brand-account managers or owners can connect; YouTube’s own live-streaming restrictions may also apply. See Connect a YouTube Channel.
- Schedule or create the live broadcast. Treat scheduling as announcement and setup, not as the start of the show.
- At showtime, enter the StreamYard studio and click Go Live. This is the documented start action for a standard live broadcast.
- Keep the studio available while you need live controls. Do not close its browser on the assumption that the stream will continue; the cited instructions do not establish that behavior.
Using a YouTube stream created in advance
StreamYard can connect to an existing YouTube live stream with RTMP details. The cited instructions say this option is available on paid plans, but it still requires entering the studio and clicking Go Live; it is not the automatic offline workflow. YouTube comments will not appear in the StreamYard studio with this setup. Follow Connect an existing YouTube Live Stream for the connection steps.
If your video is recorded in advance
Choose StreamYard’s pre-recorded streaming workflow when the content can be prepared ahead of time and should start while you are offline. StreamYard’s Help Center says: “Once scheduled, the video will go live at the selected time—even if you’re not online to start the broadcast.” The broadcast runs automatically and ends when the video is finished.

If your goal is to keep uploaded video live on YouTube without leaving a home computer or browser running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Common setup problems to check
- The scheduled standard show has not started: scheduling alone does not launch it. Enter the studio and click Go Live.
- You cannot connect the intended channel: check that you are the channel owner or a Brand-account manager or owner, and verify that YouTube live streaming is available for that channel. StreamYard’s channel connection guide notes that YouTube has additional live-streaming restrictions.
- You expect a pre-recorded broadcast to have live studio controls: that workflow runs automatically rather than from the studio, and does not offer the same control of overlays and media assets while running.
- You connected an existing YouTube stream but cannot start it automatically: the documented RTMP setup still requires entering the studio and clicking Go Live; it is not the scheduled pre-recorded workflow.
- You expect YouTube comments in StreamYard while using an existing YouTube stream: the cited RTMP guide says comments will not appear in the StreamYard studio for that setup.
