Use OBS Studio on a computer connected to your JioFiber gateway, add the prerecorded video as a looping Media Source, and send it to YouTube Live with the stream URL and private stream key. For the best chance of a stable local stream, use Ethernet where practical, set a bitrate your measured upload connection can sustain, and monitor YouTube’s stream health. This setup can loop the video, but it cannot prevent interruptions caused by power, home networking, JioFiber, the encoder, or YouTube’s ingest service.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. Enabling a channel’s first live stream can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- A computer running OBS Studio, the video file you want to broadcast, and a stable connection to your JioFiber gateway.
- A YouTube Live stream created or scheduled in Live Control Room, which provides the stream URL and private stream key for the encoder.
JioFiber plans and conditions vary, and no universal plan-specific upload speed or reliability figure is established here. Measure the upload speed where the computer will run, then choose a stream bitrate that leaves room for other household traffic.

Set up OBS to loop a prerecorded video
- Enable YouTube Live and prepare the broadcast. Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Copy its server URL and stream key. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Create a scene and add the video. In OBS, create a scene, select the plus button under Sources, choose Media Source, and add the local video file. Enable Loop in the source properties so the file starts again when it reaches the end. OBS documents this setting in its Media Sources guide.
- For a playlist, use the VLC source. OBS’s VLC Video source supports a Loop Playlist option and requires VLC to be installed. Use this instead of a single Media Source when you need a sequence of files to repeat.
- Configure video and output settings. In OBS, set the resolution and frame rate under Settings > Video, and configure the encoder, bitrate, and keyframe interval under Settings > Output (the exact controls depend on the selected output mode and encoder). Choose settings the computer can encode reliably and the connection can sustain. YouTube recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), and RTMPS for encrypted delivery. Follow YouTube’s current live encoder settings for supported resolution, frame rate, and bitrate combinations.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube or the appropriate service option, and enter the stream URL and key if OBS prompts for them. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room.
- Prefer a wired connection when practical. Connect the computer by Ethernet to a LAN port on the JioFiber home gateway. Jio’s gateway instructions identify the LAN port for wired devices. Ethernet can make the local link more predictable than Wi-Fi, but it does not prevent power outages or failures elsewhere between your home and YouTube. Use a cable long enough to reach without strain; a cable alone cannot fix an unstable ISP path.
- Start a controlled test before relying on it. In Live Control Room, check the preview and stream health, and verify the picture and audio. YouTube recommends configuring an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting at least 15 minutes beforehand; its guidance also calls for monitoring quality and testing failover where available. Check that any local recording you intend to keep is being written and growing as expected.
Choose a bitrate that fits JioFiber’s actual upload
The relevant connection speed is upload, not download. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% of upload capacity above the total stream bitrate. For example, if your measured upload is 10 Mbps at the time you plan to stream, a bitrate around 8 Mbps would leave roughly that recommended margin; household traffic or an unstable connection can still reduce the available capacity.

A static image may not reveal encoding or upload problems that appear with more demanding footage. If the stream health degrades or OBS reports dropped frames, lower the bitrate or resolution and test again rather than assuming the JioFiber plan’s advertised speed is available continuously.

Monitor the stream and diagnose interruptions
Watch YouTube’s stream health in Live Control Room and OBS’s dropped-frame statistics while the broadcast runs. OBS says dropped frames can indicate that the connection to the remote ingest server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. Causes can include the modem or router, Ethernet cable, network card, another device using the network, or ISP-side conditions.
- Dropped frames or unhealthy stream: Check whether other devices are using upload capacity. Reduce bitrate if capacity is insufficient. If the connection remains unstable, test local network hardware and contact the ISP if the problem appears upstream.
- OBS disconnects but the file keeps looping: Looping controls only the local media source. It does not restart OBS, restore the internet path, or guarantee that YouTube reconnects. Test recovery on the actual setup and arrange monitoring or alerts if unattended operation matters.
- Video stops at the end of the file: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For multiple files, verify the VLC source playlist and its Loop Playlist setting.
- YouTube does not receive a feed: Confirm the correct stream is active in Live Control Room and that OBS has the matching stream URL and key. If the key may have been exposed or changed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS.
- Audio or picture problems: Check OBS’s preview and audio meters, the source’s audio settings, and YouTube stream health. Test again with the same resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and representative content you intend to use live.
A router reboot, cable replacement, or bitrate reduction may help in a particular case, but none is a guaranteed fix for a failure outside the local setup. A looping source is not an automatic-recovery system.

Plan for long broadcasts and YouTube rules
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Treat that as an archive threshold, not a promise of unlimited runtime. If a complete archive matters, plan around the documented behavior and check current Live Control Room guidance before a long broadcast.
Only stream video and audio you have the rights to use. A live broadcast is not exempt from copyright rules. Also, making prerecorded material appear live does not ensure YouTube will approve a channel for monetization: monetization decisions can consider originality and reused content, separately from whether a stream successfully connects. Review YouTube’s current channel monetization policies and copyright guidance before broadcasting material you did not create or license.

Compare the ways to keep prerecorded video live
| Approach | Computer at home | Home power and broadband | Looping or scheduling | Monitoring and recovery | Cost information established |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo cloud service | No; it runs the stream in the cloud. | Not dependent on your home computer or connection staying on during playback. | Uploaded videos and playlists can loop. | Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; StreamNeo team support is included. | One flat price per slot at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; current options are shown below. |
| OBS on a home computer | Yes; the computer and OBS must remain running. | Depends on home electricity, local network, JioFiber service, and the path to YouTube. | OBS Media Source can loop a file; VLC Video source can loop a playlist. | Monitor OBS and YouTube; the sources do not establish a universal automatic-recovery guarantee. | OBS is free software; total operating cost depends on equipment, electricity, and internet service. |
| Gyre cloud service | Not for cloud playback. | Cloud-based operation avoids relying on a home computer for the stream, though account and service details should be checked with the provider. | YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded-video service. | Current scheduling, monitoring, and recovery details are not established here. | Current pricing and service-level details are not established here. |
| AJA HELO Plus dedicated encoder | A dedicated encoder is used instead of relying on a general-purpose OBS computer. | Its network path and any local infrastructure still matter; the reviewed guidance does not establish independence from home broadband or power. | YouTube lists scheduled prerecorded-media playback. | Check current device documentation for control and recovery behavior. | Current total cost is not established here. |
For OBS, YouTube identifies encoder setup and stream key handling in its encoder instructions; encoder options and listed products can change, so check the current Live Control Room information before committing to a long unattended broadcast.
