How to Install Webroot SecureAnywhere and Run Your First Scan

A step-by-step guide to checking compatibility, downloading the official Webroot installer, activating SecureAnywhere, handling Mac permissions and completing your first scan.

To install Webroot SecureAnywhere, verify that your operating system and product edition are supported, have an active keycode and internet connection ready, download the official Windows or Mac installer, and follow its activation prompts. SecureAnywhere performs an initial scan during setup. Let that scan finish; Mac users may also need to grant Full Disk Access before scanning can work completely.

Before you install

A few checks prevent most setup failures. SecureAnywhere needs an internet connection during installation, and activation requires a valid keycode associated with an active license. If you are reinstalling or moving the software to another computer, Webroot’s support guidance says the subscription must still be active and valid.

Have the computer connected to the internet before you start. Keep the keycode nearby rather than relying on memory, and save any purchase or account information that may help Webroot support identify the license if activation fails. The installation process is tied to the product edition and platform, so a code or installer intended for a different Webroot product may not activate the copy you are setting up.

Check the current operating-system list

Webroot’s requirements page covers several products, so confirm the exact SecureAnywhere edition as well as the operating system. The currently listed platforms are:

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter | 4Pack Type C Female to A Male Cable Converter for Apple Duo 17 16 15 14 Plus,iWatch Watch 12 11 10,iPad 9 8 Air,Airpods 5 4
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Platform Architectures or versions listed Important qualification
Windows Windows 8.1 32-bit and 64-bit; Windows 10 32-bit and 64-bit; Windows 11 64-bit Verify that your specific edition is included on the live requirements page.
Windows on ARM Windows 11 64-bit ARM The requirements page notes an exception for Webroot Total Protection. Check the edition before proceeding.
Mac macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe; Apple silicon or Intel processors macOS support can change, so recheck the page immediately before installation.

These are the versions listed in Webroot’s current requirements material checked on October 13, 2026. Requirements and supported editions may change after that date. If your computer is running a different release, do not assume compatibility from the table; consult Webroot’s live requirements page first.

On Windows, identify whether the system is 32-bit, 64-bit or ARM before choosing an installer or troubleshooting compatibility. On a Mac, note whether the computer uses an Apple M-series processor or an Intel processor. Both processor families are listed, but the supported macOS release and exact SecureAnywhere edition still matter.

Locate the keycode

Keep the license keycode available before opening the installer. If you bought a boxed copy, Webroot says the keycode is printed on the lower-left area of the back of the retail box. If you cannot find it, use Webroot’s keycode-finding route or contact support rather than guessing. An incorrect or expired code can stop activation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Enter the code exactly as supplied. When transcribing a printed code, carefully distinguish characters that look alike, such as zero and the letter O. Do not share the code publicly or paste it into an unofficial download form. If the code is rejected, preserve the exact error message and resolve the license question through Webroot support.

Understand what the license check means

Installation and activation are separate from downloading the program. You can obtain the installer, but SecureAnywhere still needs a valid keycode to activate. Webroot’s support guidance allows a re-download or transfer while the subscription remains active; it does not establish a universal device limit for every product or license. If you are replacing a computer, ask Webroot to confirm the license status rather than assuming that removing the old installation automatically frees a device.

Download the official installer

Use Webroot’s official download page, select the correct platform, and save the installer locally. Avoid repackaged downloads from third-party sites; the official package is the one described in Webroot’s installation instructions.

Downloading from the official page also makes it easier to compare the filename with Webroot’s directions. If a download has a different name, comes from an unexpected domain, or asks for unrelated software, cancel it and return to Webroot’s support or download page.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Windows download

  1. Open Webroot’s download page and choose the PC or Windows option.
  2. Save the downloaded file and open the folder where your browser stores downloads.
  3. Find wsainstall.exe. This is the Windows installer named in Webroot’s instructions.

If Windows displays a security or permission prompt when you launch the file, check that the publisher and filename are what you expect, then allow the installer to make changes if you intentionally started the official package.

Do not run multiple copies of the installer at once. If the browser reports that the download failed, download a fresh copy from Webroot rather than renaming an unrelated executable. Keep the original file available until setup has completed, in case support asks which installer you used.

Mac download

  1. On Webroot’s download page, choose the Mac option.
  2. Open the downloaded wsamac.dmg disk image.
  3. Open the Webroot application from the mounted disk image and continue with the on-screen setup.

Keep the disk image open until the application has launched. If macOS asks you to confirm that you want to open software downloaded from the internet, proceed only when the file came from Webroot’s official page.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Install and activate SecureAnywhere

Windows steps

  1. Double-click wsainstall.exe.
  2. When the installer asks for the keycode, enter the code exactly as supplied. Check characters such as zero and the letter O if the code is printed or manually transcribed.
  3. Accept the installer’s terms and continue through the prompts.
  4. If Windows shows a User Account Control prompt asking whether the program may make changes, approve it when you have confirmed that you launched the official Webroot installer.
  5. Leave the computer connected to the internet while setup downloads components and completes activation.

Do not close the installer merely because the initial window disappears or changes appearance. Setup can continue while SecureAnywhere registers the installation and begins its first scan.

If a prompt asks you to permit changes, do not approve it blindly. Confirm that you deliberately launched wsainstall.exe from Webroot’s official download and that the filename matches the instructions. If the prompt appears unexpectedly or the file came from another site, cancel and obtain a new installer from Webroot.

Keep the computer powered on while the installer works. Interrupting setup can leave activation incomplete or prevent the initial scan from finishing. If you must stop, note the screen you were on and any message shown so support can distinguish an interrupted installation from a rejected keycode.

Mac steps

  1. Launch the Webroot application from wsamac.dmg.
  2. Enter the supplied keycode when requested and continue through the activation screens.
  3. Read each macOS permission request. SecureAnywhere may ask for Full Disk Access so it can inspect files across the system.
  4. Follow the prompt to open macOS privacy settings, locate Webroot in the Full Disk Access list, and enable the requested permission. The exact Settings or System Settings labels differ between macOS releases.
  5. Return to SecureAnywhere and allow setup to continue.

Grant Full Disk Access only to the Webroot application you intentionally installed. If you skip the request, the program may not be able to scan all locations; use the Mac-specific instructions linked from Webroot’s installation support if the prompt does not take you to the right screen.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

macOS may require you to authenticate the privacy-setting change. Complete the system prompt, then return to SecureAnywhere instead of starting a second installer. If Webroot is not visible in the expected list, use Webroot’s Mac guidance for the installed macOS release; the names and layout of privacy controls can change between versions.

Run and complete the first scan

Webroot says SecureAnywhere starts an initial scan as part of installation. You do not normally need to open a separate scanner or create a schedule for this first pass.

  1. After activation, leave SecureAnywhere open and let the scan proceed.
  2. Keep the computer powered on and connected to the internet until the installer reports that setup and scanning are complete. Avoid restarting or force-quitting the application while it is working.
  3. When the initial scan finishes, select Start using SecureAnywhere. This is the transition from the setup workflow to the normal application interface.
  4. If the Mac version requested Full Disk Access and you have not yet granted it, complete that authorization and allow the scan to run again or resume as the application directs.

Webroot’s installation support does not publish a universal completion time. The duration depends on the computer and the amount of data examined, so do not treat a particular number of minutes as a requirement or a sign of failure.

A scan that appears quiet is not necessarily stalled. Allow the installer to continue unless it displays an explicit error. Avoid launching repeated scans, restarting the computer or deleting the installer while the initial process is active. If you have to leave the computer unattended, keep it connected to power where practical and return to check the completion message.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the first scan does and does not tell you

The setup scan establishes that SecureAnywhere can run on the computer and inspect the locations available to it. The installation instructions do not provide a detection-rate statistic, performance benchmark or guaranteed scan duration. Do not infer protection effectiveness from how quickly the scan completes.

If SecureAnywhere reports an item requiring attention, use the action offered in the application and consult Webroot support for an explanation of an unfamiliar detection. Do not delete system files manually based only on a filename.

Pay attention to whether the scan completed after you granted Mac Full Disk Access. If permission was missing during the first attempt, SecureAnywhere may need to resume or run the scan again after authorization. The application’s own instruction should determine the next action.

What happens after setup

According to Webroot’s support instructions, SecureAnywhere scans the computer daily after the initial scan and monitors activity while you browse. In practical terms, you should not have to launch the program each day or build a recurring scan schedule just to obtain the behavior described by Webroot.

“After the initial scan, SecureAnywhere automatically scans your computer daily and constantly monitors activity as you surf the Internet.”

This statement describes Webroot’s support guidance; it is not a promise of a particular scan time, detection result or resource-use level. Keep the application installed and activated so those follow-on functions can operate under the terms of your license.

The daily-scan description does not replace the initial setup scan. Finish activation, resolve any permission request and select Start using SecureAnywhere before treating the installation as complete. If the program is later removed, disabled or no longer covered by a valid subscription, the behavior described by Webroot may not continue.

Troubleshoot common installation problems

You cannot find the keycode

Do not enter a random code or purchase another license immediately. Use Webroot’s keycode-finding support route. For a boxed product, inspect the lower-left portion of the back of the box, where Webroot says the code is printed. If the support process cannot locate a code, confirm the purchase account and license status with Webroot.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Keep any receipt, account email or retail packaging available when contacting support. Those details can help support identify the correct subscription without requiring you to guess at a replacement code.

The keycode is rejected

Re-enter the code carefully and check for transcription errors. Then verify that the code belongs to the SecureAnywhere product and platform you are installing and that the subscription is still active. Webroot’s support material is the appropriate place to resolve an expired license, an already-used code or a device-allowance question; the installation instructions do not establish a universal device limit.

Do not repeatedly submit variations of a code or combine codes from different products. Record the exact wording of the rejection, the platform, and whether this is a new installation, reinstall or transfer. Support can then check the license rather than treating the problem as a generic installer failure.

The installer will not start on Windows

  • Confirm that you downloaded wsainstall.exe from Webroot’s official page rather than an altered copy.
  • Make sure Windows is one of the versions listed for your edition on the current requirements page.
  • Retry the launch and approve the Windows permission prompt if it appears after you have verified the installer’s source.
  • If activation still fails, stop guessing at license or device errors and contact Webroot support with the exact message shown.

If the operating system is outside the listed versions, do not force the installer to run through compatibility workarounds. Verify the live requirements page and ask Webroot whether your edition is supported.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

macOS cannot scan all files

Return to macOS privacy settings and check whether Webroot is enabled under Full Disk Access. macOS changes the names and layout of these controls between releases, so follow the Mac instructions linked from Webroot’s installation support for your version. After changing the permission, reopen SecureAnywhere if requested and allow the scan to resume.

Granting permission to the wrong application will not solve the problem. Confirm that the entry corresponds to the Webroot application you launched from wsamac.dmg. If the entry is missing or the setting cannot be changed, capture the wording of the macOS message and contact Webroot support.

You need to reinstall or move SecureAnywhere

Webroot says the software can be downloaded again or transferred to a new computer while the subscription remains active. The reinstall guidance also requires an active, valid license. Before removing the old installation, make sure you can retrieve the keycode and that the subscription covers the intended computer. If the transfer or activation is refused, Webroot support must confirm the license status rather than relying on an assumption about the number of allowed devices.

Use the same official download route for the new installation and select the correct platform. A transfer is not a reason to use an unofficial installer or to assume that a previously activated code will work indefinitely.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The first scan appears stuck

  • Give the scan time to process; Webroot does not publish one standard completion time for every computer.
  • Check that the computer has not lost its internet connection and that the application is not waiting for a permission decision.
  • On a Mac, verify Full Disk Access first, because incomplete authorization can prevent access to files.
  • If the interface shows an explicit error, record its wording and contact Webroot support. Do not repeatedly reinstall with guessed keycodes, as that can make it harder to identify the original problem.

A long scan alone does not prove that the software has failed. The relevant warning signs are an explicit installer error, a missing permission, an unsupported operating system or an activation message. Resolve those specific conditions instead of relying on an assumed time limit.

Questions readers often ask

Do I need internet access to install SecureAnywhere?

Yes. Webroot’s installation guidance says an internet connection is required. Connect before launching the installer and leave the connection available while components download and activation completes.

Does SecureAnywhere scan during installation?

Yes. Webroot says the initial scan runs as part of installation. Let it finish, then choose Start using SecureAnywhere.

Can I skip Full Disk Access on a Mac?

You can decline a permission request, but Webroot says Full Disk Access may be needed so SecureAnywhere can access files for scanning. If you skip it, scanning may not cover all locations. Follow Webroot’s Mac instructions and authorize the application if you want it to inspect the requested files.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What if my Windows PC uses ARM?

Webroot’s requirements page lists Windows 11 64-bit ARM but notes an exception for Webroot Total Protection. Check the exact edition before installing; do not assume that every Webroot product has the same ARM support.

Can I install SecureAnywhere on a new computer?

Webroot says the software can be re-downloaded or transferred while the subscription is active and valid. Have the keycode ready and ask support to confirm any license or device-allowance issue.

Is there a published scan duration or detection score?

No universal completion time, detection-rate statistic or performance benchmark is provided in Webroot’s installation material. The duration depends on the computer and the data examined, so judge completion by the application’s status rather than a fixed number.

Do I have to schedule daily scans?

Webroot’s support statement says SecureAnywhere automatically scans daily after the initial scan and monitors activity while you browse. The installation instructions do not tell users to create a separate recurring schedule for that behavior.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where can I get help with an expired code or device limit?

Use Webroot’s official support service. The installation directions do not define a universal device limit or provide a workaround for an expired subscription, so support must verify the account and license.

A final installation checklist

  • Your operating system, processor architecture and SecureAnywhere edition appear on Webroot’s current requirements page.
  • You have a valid keycode and an internet connection.
  • You downloaded the official package: wsainstall.exe for Windows or wsamac.dmg for Mac.
  • You approved the Windows permission prompt when appropriate.
  • You granted Full Disk Access on macOS if SecureAnywhere requested it.
  • You allowed the initial scan to finish before selecting Start using SecureAnywhere.
  • You know that Webroot describes daily scans and browsing monitoring after the initial scan.
  • If anything failed, you preserved the exact error message and used Webroot support instead of guessing about licensing or device limits.
