Install Save Page WE in Firefox
- Open the Save Page WE listing on Firefox Add-ons.
- Select Add to Firefox. If Firefox presents a permission prompt, review it and approve to continue.
- Look for the blue floppy-disk button on the main toolbar. If it is not visible, open Firefox’s Extensions and themes controls and pin the extension to the toolbar.
You can also open Firefox’s menu, choose Extensions and themes, then select Find more add-ons to search addons.mozilla.org. For an ordinary installation, use the official listing rather than installing an add-on file manually.

Install Save Page WE in Chrome
- Open the Save Page WE listing in the Chrome Web Store.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- Review the permissions. If Chrome asks for confirmation, select Add extension only if you are comfortable granting them.
- Find the extension through the Extensions control near the address bar. Use Chrome’s extension controls to pin its icon if you want it visible on the toolbar.
Chrome does not allow extensions to be added while you are browsing as a guest or in Incognito mode. A school or workplace administrator may also restrict extension installation.

Save Page WE saves a web page as it is currently displayed into a single HTML file, intended to open in a browser. Its listing describes saving selected tabs or a list of URLs, with Basic, Standard, and Custom item options. The saved file uses the .html extension by default. Clicking the toolbar button saves pages in selected tabs according to the button action configured in the extension.

Do not expect every page to be reproduced perfectly. According to the Firefox listing, some cross-origin frames cannot be saved: a cross-origin frame is saved only when all cross-origin ancestor frames can run content scripts, and scripts inside cross-origin frames are not saved. Firefox WebExtensions also cannot read local files, so Save Page WE cannot directly convert local .maff or .mht files.
Review permissions and listing details
The Firefox listing identifies permission categories including downloading files and reading or modifying download history, displaying notifications, accessing tabs and browser activity during navigation, and accessing data for all websites. Review the permission prompt and install from the official browser store. Chrome Help explains that site access can be managed, including access when the extension is selected, on the current site, or on all sites.

Troubleshoot installation and visibility
- Chrome’s Add to Chrome option is unavailable: leave Incognito or guest browsing and open the listing in a regular Chrome window. If installation remains blocked, the device administrator may restrict extensions.
- The extension installed but its icon is missing: open the browser’s extension controls and pin Save Page WE to the toolbar.
- You are unsure about the permission request: compare it with the categories disclosed on the official listing and approve only if you trust the extension and accept the access requested.
- Some content is absent from the saved HTML: cross-origin frames and scripts have the limitations described above; the save is not guaranteed to reproduce every dynamic or embedded component.
