Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

These are different procedures. Intel’s Arc downgrade instructions cover Arc A- and B-series graphics on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Choose the right route: downgrade or roll back
| What you want | What to do | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Return to the immediately previous driver | Use Roll Back Driver in Device Manager. | Windows must have retained the previous driver files. Intel’s rollback instructions explain when the option may be unavailable. |
| Install a particular older driver version | Choose that version in Intel’s Download Center and install it. | The package must match your graphics hardware and Windows system. Intel’s Arc downgrade procedure covers Arc A- and B-series products on Windows 10 and Windows 11. |
If Device Manager’s rollback option is missing or disabled, use the manual downgrade route. Do not choose an arbitrary old package: confirm the device and use a driver intended for it.

Install a selected older Intel Arc driver
- Open Intel Download Center.
- Choose Graphics, then the Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics – Windows driver family.
- Use the Version menu to select the release you need. Older Arc releases may appear in this menu even when they do not appear in ordinary search results; see Intel’s historical graphics driver guidance.
- Download the package that applies to your graphics device and Windows version.
- Run the installer and select its clean-install option, as Intel recommends for this Arc downgrade procedure. A clean installation removes old drivers, resets Intel graphics settings to defaults, and clears the shader cache.
If the older release is no longer listed in Intel’s Download Center, check your computer manufacturer’s support page. PC makers may customize generic drivers or their packaging, and an OEM driver may be the appropriate choice for a branded or customized system. Intel describes the difference between generic and OEM drivers in its clean installation guidance.
Use Device Manager to roll back the current driver
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, then open the Intel display device’s properties.
- Open the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver.
- Follow the prompts and restart if Windows requests it.
Windows may not offer rollback if no previous driver was installed or if it did not retain the earlier driver files. In that case, download the version you need from Intel or your computer manufacturer and install it manually.

Do not use an older uninstall procedure that bypasses Intel’s installer to install or remove Windows DCH drivers. Intel warns that bypassing the installer can cause system instability; follow the package’s supported installation steps instead.
If Windows Update keeps replacing the driver
For the specific case where Windows Update installs a graphics driver and the driver you install afterward is reverted, Intel advises installing the latest Intel graphics driver over the Windows Update version without selecting “Execute a clean installation.” This is a targeted workaround for Windows Update reversion, not Intel’s general clean-install advice for selecting an older Arc release. See Intel’s instructions for Windows Update driver reversion for the manual installation route and optional restart.

If the driver reverts after every restart
If a manual update appears successful but reverts after each shutdown or restart, Intel says leftover files from earlier installations can sometimes be responsible. For this repeated-reversion symptom, Intel recommends using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove residual files and then installing the latest Intel graphics driver. This is a troubleshooting step for that specific problem, not a required first step for an ordinary rollback or downgrade. Intel’s guidance is in Driver Rollback to Previous or Older Version After Powering On or Restarting The System.
