Back up important data first: enrollment usually does not require a reset, but returning from a beta build to public Android can erase the device.
Check whether your Pixel is supported
Google’s current Android 17 QPR 3 guide, updated October 2, 2026 UTC, lists these eligible devices:

Install the beta with the standard OTA method
1. Back up your data
Google says most users do not need a full reset to move to QPR 3 beta, but recommends backing up before enrollment. A backup is especially important if you may want to leave the beta later, because returning to a public build can require a full device reset.
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
2. Enroll the device
Use Google’s Android Beta for Pixel enrollment route for a supported device. Follow the on-page enrollment instructions for the Pixel you want to update.
3. Install the offered update
After enrollment, check for the offered system update on the device and install it when available. Google says enrolled devices receive regular OTA updates during the platform release cycle, including Quarterly Platform Releases, unless the user opts out earlier. The offered build and its availability can change, so use the update shown for your device rather than relying on an old build number.

Choose enrollment OTA or manual flashing
| Method | Best suited to | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Beta enrollment and OTA | Most Pixel owners who want the supported, straightforward update path | Enroll once, then receive beta updates over the air during the release cycle unless you opt out. |
| Manual flashing | Testers who need more control, such as for automated or regression testing | Google recommends Android Flash Tool for manual flashing and also publishes device-specific system images. Flashing a beta enrolls the device in following beta OTA updates. |
For manual installation, start from Google’s QPR 3 instructions and use the official Android Flash Tool or the image for the exact Pixel model. If using a downloadable image, verify its SHA-256 checksum against Google’s page and follow the official update procedure. Do not use an image or checksum intended for another model.

Google’s separate Android 17 QPR 2 OTA page is for QPR 2 images, not the QPR 3 enrollment guide or a QPR 3 build table. It records QPR 2 release metadata dated September 29, 2026: builds CP41.260831.007.A3 / CP41.260831.011, security patch level 2026-08-05, and Google Play services 26.28.33. Do not treat those QPR 2 details as the current QPR 3 build information.

Google offers a limited no-wipe opt-out window after a stable release update has been applied. That window ends once the device installs the next beta update. If you return from a preview build to a public build using Google’s OTA or factory-image instructions, the process requires a full device reset and removes user data. Back up first, and read the opt-out prompt carefully before accepting a downgrade that may erase data. Details are in Google’s official OTA instructions.
