To install an RTX 5060, confirm the exact card’s size and power requirements, fit it into a full-length PCIe slot with the PC powered off and unplugged, connect its required power cable, then install NVIDIA’s current GeForce Game Ready Driver after startup. RTX 5060 cards vary by manufacturer and model, so use the specifications and guide for your exact card rather than assuming every model has the same dimensions or connector.
Check compatibility before opening the PC
Find the complete model name on the card’s box, label, or purchase record. On the manufacturer’s product page, check its length, thickness, required power connector, and recommended power-supply capacity. Compare the card’s dimensions with the space available in your case, including room for its thickness and any nearby components.

As one example, MSI lists its GeForce RTX 5060 8G Gaming OC V1 at 248 × 135 × 41 mm, with 150 W power consumption, one 8-pin power connector, and a recommended 550 W power supply. Those figures apply to that specific card, not to every RTX 5060; check the specifications for your own model. MSI’s specifications are the reference for this example.
Make sure your power supply has the connector the card requires and meets the card maker’s recommendation. Do not assume an adapter is appropriate without checking the manufacturer’s instructions, and never use a modular PSU cable from a different power-supply model: modular cables are not necessarily interchangeable.

Download the current driver from NVIDIA if convenient, but install it after the card is fitted and the computer starts. NVIDIA’s driver releases can change, so check its official channel when you perform setup.
Install the graphics card
- Shut down and disconnect power. Shut down the PC, switch off the power supply, unplug the power cable, and allow the system to power down before opening the case.
- Prepare the slot. Remove the case’s expansion-slot covers where the card will sit. If replacing an existing graphics card, disconnect its power lead and release the motherboard’s PCIe slot latch before removing it.
- Seat and secure the RTX 5060. Align the card with the motherboard’s primary full-length PCIe graphics slot and press evenly until it is fully seated. Secure the card’s bracket to the case.
- Connect card power. Attach the auxiliary power connector specified for your exact model. For example, the cited MSI Gaming OC V1 uses one 8-pin connector; other cards may differ.
- Reconnect the monitor. Close the case, reconnect the PC’s power, and plug the monitor cable into an output on the RTX 5060—not a motherboard display output.
Use the quick-start or setup guide for your exact card if it gives different instructions. ASUS’s support listing includes quick-start and speed-setup guides for its RTX 5060 products; consult the corresponding guide for your model.
Install the NVIDIA driver and finish setup
Start the PC and install the current GeForce Game Ready Driver through the NVIDIA app’s Drivers tab or from NVIDIA’s driver download page. In a May 19, 2025 announcement, NVIDIA said its latest GeForce Game Ready Driver was required for users with a new GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5060 Laptop GPU and directed users to the NVIDIA app or GeForce.com. Check NVIDIA for the current release when you set up the card.

Restart if the installer requests it. Then open your operating system’s display settings and select the resolution and refresh rate you intend to use. Verify that the monitor is connected to the graphics card’s output.

Shut the computer down before reseating the card or changing its power connection. Check these common causes first:
- The card is not fully seated in the PCIe slot.
- The required auxiliary power connector is not connected securely.
- The monitor cable is plugged into the motherboard instead of the graphics card.
- The selected card output, cable, or monitor input is not working; try another card output or a known-good cable if available.
If those checks do not restore a picture, consult the manuals for the exact graphics card and motherboard. These are general troubleshooting checks; the right diagnosis can depend on the particular PC and its components.
