How to Install a 70mai A900 Ultra Dash Cam Without Hardwiring

The A900 Ultra has a Type-C power port, but 70mai’s product page does not confirm the required vehicle adapter or regional box contents. Verify both before installation.

You can install the 70mai A900 Ultra without connecting it to the fuse box by powering it through its Type-C port from a compatible vehicle-socket supply. Before buying a charger or cable, check the current manual and the contents of your exact regional package: 70mai’s US product page confirms the Type-C port but does not specify the required vehicle-adapter output or confirm which power accessories are included.

What you need to check before installing

  • Confirm the model. The A900 Ultra is a different product from the older A900. Check the label and product documentation so you follow instructions for the Ultra.
  • Check the box and current regional manual. Establish which power cable and adapter came with your camera and what the manual requires. The reviewed 70mai US product page does not settle those details, so do not assume a generic USB-C car charger or cable is compatible.
  • Verify the vehicle socket. Find out whether it switches off with the ignition or remains powered when the vehicle is off. Consult the vehicle manual if necessary.
  • Plan storage if needed. 70mai lists MicroSD card capacity from 32 GB to 512 GB for the A900 Ultra, but the product page reviewed does not specify card speed or formatting requirements. Check the current manual before choosing a card.

Install the A900 Ultra using a vehicle socket

  1. Mount the camera according to its manual. Select a position that does not obstruct the driver’s view, and follow the camera and vehicle instructions for placement.
  2. Use a verified compatible socket supply. Use the adapter and cable confirmed by the current manual or the package for your regional model. The reviewed product page identifies a Type-C power port but does not provide enough information to recommend a particular adapter or cable.
  3. Connect power at the camera. Plug the verified cable into the A900 Ultra’s Type-C power port and connect its vehicle-power end as directed by the accessory instructions.
  4. Secure and route the cable carefully. Keep it clear of the driver’s sightlines and vehicle controls, and secure it so it cannot interfere with driving. Follow the camera and vehicle manuals; 70mai’s reviewed product page does not give a model-specific routing path.
  5. Check operation with the vehicle on. Confirm that the camera receives power and behaves as described in its current manual. If it does not, check the socket, connections, and accessory compatibility rather than assuming the camera accepts any Type-C supply.

What changes if the socket stays powered when the vehicle is off?

Do not assume the camera will turn off with the ignition if the vehicle socket remains live. Check the vehicle’s socket behavior and the camera instructions before leaving it connected while parked. 70mai warns that a constantly powered cigarette-lighter socket is unsuitable for charging its battery pack; that warning concerns the battery-pack charging setup and does not by itself establish how the A900 Ultra will behave on your socket.

What a socket-powered installation does—and does not—provide

A socket-powered setup avoids fuse-box wiring, but it does not establish that parked-vehicle surveillance or every connected feature will work. 70mai describes the A900 Ultra’s low-power parking mode as activating automatically under specific conditions and says it could not be manually enabled through the app or device settings at the time its product page was reviewed. Firmware behavior may change, so check the live product information and current instructions.

70mai says its 4G Cloud+ features require the 4G Hardwire Kit 2, and some features also require a paid service. Do not count on those features in a socket-only installation; check the current terms and compatibility requirements for the exact feature you want.

For context, 70mai’s UP06 is a hardwire kit that connects to the fuse box using VCC, ACC, and ground. It is not needed for the socket-powered method described here. If you choose to use a hardwire kit instead, that is a different installation and requires following the kit and vehicle instructions.
