Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsLet shader preloading finish before judging Call of Duty’s normal performance. If the game still stutters or runs poorly afterward, troubleshoot the specific release and platform: Activision’s available guidance here covers PC, and settings and fixes can differ between games.
First, let shader preloading finish
On the first boot, stay at the main menu until shader preloading completes. Activision Support warns that navigating away from the main menu stops preloading and can lead to performance issues. This guidance appears in its Black Ops 6 PC troubleshooting and Warzone PC troubleshooting pages.

Troubleshoot persistent problems on PC
These checks are for PC. Confirm whether you are playing Black Ops 6, Warzone, or another release, then use that game’s current support guidance. Do not assume that a recommendation for one Call of Duty title applies unchanged to another.

- Check compatibility. Compare your PC with the system requirements for the specific game. The Warzone PC guidance reviewed lists Windows 10 and Windows 11; consult its linked live requirements for the exact hardware and supported configuration.
- Check the recommended graphics driver. Follow the current Activision recommendation for your title and GPU. The Warzone troubleshooting guidance advises using its recommended driver for graphics problems and rolling back to the recommended version if a newer driver causes issues. Driver versions change, so check the live page rather than relying on an old version number.
- Verify or repair the game files. Use the file verification or repair option provided by your launcher. The menu labels vary by launcher; follow its supported repair workflow for the installed game.
- Look for background-app conflicts. Close other applications and retest. Activision’s Warzone troubleshooting page specifically names NZXT CAM, MSI Afterburner, and Razer Cortex as applications to disable during troubleshooting. That does not mean any one of them is necessarily causing your problem. If closing apps does not help, Activision also recommends a clean boot to isolate a conflict.
Distinguish rendering trouble from network lag
Low frame rates and visible rendering stutter are different from delayed actions, rubber-banding, or other signs of network lag. Note which symptom you actually see before changing settings: shader preloading and graphics troubleshooting address rendering, while the cited guidance does not establish them as fixes for a poor connection.
On-Demand High-Quality Streaming is a bandwidth and visual-quality choice, not a proven shader or frame-rate fix. Activision says the Optimized option favors high-fidelity content with greater bandwidth use, while Minimal reduces graphical quality and bandwidth use. If your connection is constrained, you can test the lower-bandwidth option; the support page does not claim it improves FPS or resolves shader stutter. See Activision’s Black Ops 6 texture-streaming guidance and confirm the setting is available in your release.

Do not use old shader timings as a target
Activision’s 2019 Modern Warfare PC troubleshooting article reported average preloading times ranging from 8 minutes 2 seconds to 37 minutes 12 seconds for six named PC configurations. Those are historical averages for that 2019 game and those systems, not current benchmarks or a timing standard for newer Call of Duty releases.

What to send support if the issue continues
When contacting support, include the game and version, launcher, GPU and driver version, CPU, RAM, resolution, graphics settings, and a clear description of the symptom. Specify whether it is stutter, low FPS, a crash, or network lag; those details help distinguish causes. For crashes, use the official PC crash-report route linked from the applicable game’s PC troubleshooting page.
