To improve battery life on a POCO phone, first open the Battery usage screen and identify what is actually consuming power. Then adjust the responsible display setting, app activity, or network condition instead of disabling everything. Lower brightness, use a lower refresh rate when available, review unnecessary background activity, and select a battery-saving mode when its trade-offs are acceptable. If severe drain continues after those checks, arrange a local Xiaomi/POCO after-sales inspection.
Start by finding the drain
Battery advice is most effective when it is based on your phone’s own usage data. A POCO that loses charge while displaying a bright 90 Hz screen needs a different fix from one being kept awake by a single app or a weak mobile signal. Changing every setting at once also makes it difficult to tell which change helped.

Open Battery usage
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery, Battery & performance, or the closest battery-related entry shown on your model.
- Open the battery-usage, power-consumption, or usage-details view.
- Review the graph and the ranked list of apps and system components.
MIUI and HyperOS labels can differ by model, region, and software release. If you cannot find the page, use the Settings search field and enter Battery. Record the first few entries before changing anything. The list may include the screen, a mobile-network component, an individual app, or a system process. A high percentage is not automatically a fault: a game, camera session, navigation session, or long period of screen-on time can legitimately appear near the top.
Look for unusual or unnecessary activity
- An app that remains high while you have barely used it deserves attention.
- Screen consumption that dominates the list points first to brightness, refresh rate, or display features.
- Mobile-network consumption that is unusually high can indicate poor reception or time spent moving between network conditions.
- A recent setup or system update can temporarily create extra background work, so a short-lived spike is not proof of a failed battery.
Make one meaningful change at a time and observe ordinary use afterward. This is not a laboratory test, because signal, temperature, workload, and screen time change from day to day, but it gives you a more reliable diagnosis than guessing.

Reduce display power without making the phone unpleasant to use
The display is often a practical place to begin. Xiaomi’s official support guidance says that high brightness and a high refresh rate increase consumption. Its POCO C61 guidance specifically notes that high brightness and 90 Hz provide a smoother visual experience while using more power. Those statements explain the direction of the trade-off; they do not establish a fixed percentage of runtime for every POCO model.
Lower brightness
Pull down Control Center or open the display controls in Settings and lower the brightness to the lowest comfortable level. Automatic brightness can prevent the panel from staying unnecessarily bright when ambient light changes. If automatic adjustment is distracting or consistently too bright in your environment, use a manual level instead and recheck it when moving outdoors.
Choose 60 Hz, if your model offers it
Open the display settings and look for Refresh rate, Screen refresh rate, or a similar label. Select 60 Hz or the lower available option when endurance matters more than scrolling smoothness. Some POCO phones offer 90 Hz, 120 Hz, or an adaptive option; others do not expose the same choices. Do not assume that a setting documented for the POCO C61 or another model exists on yours.

It will not correct an app that is running continuously in the background, and it may be a poor trade if smooth motion is important to your work or accessibility needs.
Review always-on display and sunlight mode
Xiaomi lists always-on display and sunlight mode among features that can contribute to consumption. If you do not need a persistent clock or notification view, turn off always-on display or limit its schedule where your software provides that option. Sunlight mode can raise visible output in bright conditions; disable it when you are indoors if your model lets you control it separately.

Consider haptic feedback
Haptic feedback is another setting Xiaomi identifies as a possible contributor. Reduce or disable keyboard and touch vibration if the small responses are not important to you. Keep it enabled if the feedback helps you type or operate the phone accurately; the convenience cost may outweigh a modest, unquantified saving.
Control background apps carefully
Use the Battery usage list to identify apps that consume power while you are not actively using them. Restrict only activity you do not need. An aggressive restriction can stop timely notifications, delay synchronization, interrupt uploads, or end an ongoing task.

- From the battery-usage list, tap the app with unexpectedly high consumption.
- Open the app’s battery, background-activity, or power-management controls. The exact label varies by POCO software version.
- Choose a more restrictive option only if delayed notifications and background work are acceptable.
- Use the phone normally and check Battery usage again rather than restricting many apps at once.
For an app that must alert you promptly—messaging, calendar, security, work, or an active backup—leave the necessary background access enabled. Battery life is not improved if the phone becomes unreliable for the tasks that matter.
Understand POCO’s automatic background management
Xiaomi’s support explanation for the POCO M6 notes that the system can automatically close background applications as part of its power management. That behavior can help endurance but may also remove an app from memory or delay its work. If a needed app is repeatedly closed, inspect its per-app battery and background settings for an option that permits the activity required by that app. The name and availability of such an option depend on the model and software version.
Do not treat every background process as waste. System services, synchronization, security tools, and apps performing a task you requested may be responsible for legitimate activity. The goal is to remove unnecessary work, not to make the usage list empty.

Use battery-saving modes when the trade-off fits
Battery-saving modes reduce endurance pressure by limiting some functions, performance, or background work. They are useful for a long day away from a charger, but they can make the phone less responsive or delay tasks. The names and menu paths are not identical across POCO models.

Find the mode on your phone
Open Settings and search for Battery saver or Battery mode. On the POCO F6, Xiaomi documents a battery-mode page containing Ultimate, Balanced, Battery saver, and Ultra battery saver. Treat that as POCO F6-specific guidance, not a promise that another POCO has the same list. Select the least restrictive mode that solves your immediate problem, then return to normal operation when you can charge.
Check signal and network conditions
A phone in a weak-signal area may use more power communicating with the network. Xiaomi lists poor network conditions as a possible reason for rapid drain. The mobile-network entry in Battery usage may therefore be high even when no individual app looks suspicious.
- Compare ordinary use in a location with stable reception, without treating the comparison as a controlled benchmark.
- If the drain occurs mainly in a basement, rural area, lift, or other weak-signal location, the radio environment may be a major contributor.
- When practical, use a stable Wi-Fi connection for data-heavy work rather than repeatedly relying on a marginal mobile signal.
Do not conclude that the battery itself is defective solely because one location produces poor endurance. Record whether the problem follows the phone everywhere or appears only under difficult network conditions.
Allow time for setup and post-update work to finish
Battery use can rise after a phone is first set up or after its software is updated. Xiaomi identifies background work associated with setup and updates as a possible temporary cause of increased drain and heat. Apps may be restoring data, indexing content, synchronizing accounts, or completing system tasks.

If the phone was just set up or updated, use it normally and watch whether the extra activity settles. Check Battery usage to see whether a recognizable app or system process is responsible. A temporary increase should not be used to diagnose a permanent battery failure. If severe drain remains after the post-setup or post-update activity has had time to settle, continue with the troubleshooting path below.
A practical troubleshooting sequence
Use this order when you are asking, “Why is my POCO battery draining so fast?” It keeps the changes reversible and ties each action to an observable symptom.
- Capture the symptom. Note when the drain occurs, whether the phone feels warm, what you were doing, and whether the problem began after setup or an update.
- Inspect Battery usage. Use Settings search if necessary, then identify the highest-consumption apps and components.
- Check the screen entry. Lower brightness, try automatic brightness if suitable, and select 60 Hz or the lower available refresh rate when your model offers it.
- Review display features. Consider whether always-on display, sunlight mode, or haptic feedback is needed for your use.
- Review the top app. Restrict unnecessary background activity, but preserve access for apps whose notifications or ongoing work you need.
- Check reception. Compare use under a stable network and note whether mobile-network consumption rises in weak-signal locations.
- Choose a saver mode for the situation. Start with Battery saver; use Ultra battery saver only when its tighter restrictions are acceptable.
- Recheck after ordinary use. Look for a change in the same Battery usage categories instead of relying only on how the percentage feels.
- Escalate persistent severe drain. If the problem remains after these checks, contact local Xiaomi/POCO after-sales service for inspection.
Match the fix to the symptom
The phone loses charge mainly while the screen is on
Start with brightness and refresh rate. A high refresh rate can cause rapid drain, according to Xiaomi’s general support FAQ, and high brightness increases consumption. Check always-on display and sunlight mode only after addressing the settings that affect active screen time.
One app is high despite little use
Open that app’s battery controls and restrict background activity if delayed work is acceptable. Then check whether its notifications, uploads, or synchronization still function. If the app is essential, keep the access it needs and look for an in-app setting that reduces unnecessary syncing instead of blocking it at the system level.

Mobile network is near the top
Check whether the pattern follows weak reception. Compare a stable network location with the place where the drain is worst, and avoid treating one brief comparison as a measured battery-life result. If the phone drains severely in all locations, continue through the app and display checks rather than blaming signal alone.

The phone became warm and drains after an update
Check Battery usage for update- or setup-related activity and allow temporary background work to settle. If high drain and heat continue well beyond that period, document the timing and the usage list before contacting support.
The phone closes important apps
Review the affected app’s battery and background-management controls. POCO’s system may close background apps to manage power, but a messaging, work, security, or backup app may require permitted background activity. Adjust only the affected app instead of disabling power management globally.
Trade-offs and expectations
There is no single setting that guarantees a specific number of extra hours on every POCO phone. Xiaomi’s support pages explain why brightness, refresh rate, background work, network conditions, setup, and updates affect consumption, but they do not provide a comparable runtime gain for each adjustment. Battery capacity, screen technology, software version, signal, temperature, and workload all change the result.

When to seek Xiaomi or POCO service
Contact local Xiaomi/POCO after-sales service for inspection when severe drain persists after you have checked Battery usage, display settings, background apps, network conditions, and recent setup or update activity. Include the phone model, software version if visible, when the problem started, whether the phone becomes warm, and which entries were highest in Battery usage.
The available support guidance does not establish the cause, price, repair outcome, or whether a battery replacement will solve an individual case. Service availability and procedures vary by location, so verify the local channel before sending the phone anywhere. Do not diagnose a failed battery from rapid percentage loss alone.
