Select a completed ME2 career from the list. The PlayStation 3 manual says the import retains Shepard’s level and decisions that affect ME3. In Mass Effect Legendary Edition, saves remain separate for each game; the optional Genesis 2 comic can instead let you set earlier choices when starting at ME3.

The manual says importing Commander Shepard maintains the previous character’s level and decisions that affect ME3. It does not promise that every statistic, inventory item, or other detail carries over.

Legendary Edition: import versus setting choices
Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes ME1, ME2, and ME3, and EA describes decisions as carrying between games. But the collection’s unified launcher does not combine their save files: EA states that saves are unique to each game and can be managed independently in its Legendary Edition calibration article.

If you begin ME3 without a prior save, the optional Mass Effect: Genesis 2 comic lets you make earlier-game choices. That is a way to set story choices; it is not an import of your ME2 career save. EA outlines the trilogy and the choice-continuity feature on its Legendary Edition page.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you move a save between the original release and Legendary Edition?
Do not treat cross-edition migration as guaranteed. In an EA forum response, an EA staff member said an ME2 Legendary Edition save moved to the original ME3 save folder may work on PC, while warning that differences between releases can cause issues. That limited answer is not a universal, supported transfer recipe; it does not establish compatibility across all editions, storefronts, or consoles. See the EA forum response about an ME2 Legendary Edition save and original ME3.
