It does not specify a supported file format, identify where watchlists or other portfolio data are stored, or say whether restoring a copy replaces or merges existing data. What BolsaBuddy is—and what that does not tell you about your data
BolsaBuddy’s creator describes it as a free, locally run tracker for Mexico’s IPC (^MXX). The described features include daily market context, a plain-language brief, and a watchlist that pairs a holding’s price with a saved thesis and a price-based condition that would invalidate that thesis. The creator says the tracker uses Yahoo Finance’s free daily feed and that historical data reaches back to 1991; those are the creator’s descriptions, not independently audited claims about the code, feed, or data coverage. Are there supported import, backup, or restore steps?
The creator’s article does not specify a supported import format or procedure. It does not establish CSV, JSON, or any other import option. It also does not identify user-data files, provide a backup command, or document how a restore behaves. There is therefore no verified BolsaBuddy procedure here for importing a portfolio or making a restorable backup.

Do not treat a generic file copy as a confirmed backup: without knowing which files contain user-created data, a copy could omit the portfolio information you want to keep. Likewise, do not restore guessed files over an existing setup when it is unknown whether the project replaces or merges data.
What to verify before moving or copying data
For reliable instructions, check the creator’s project description and the current linked repository, or ask the project author. Confirm these points before following any file-copy or migration procedure:

- Where user-created data is stored, including watchlists and saved theses.
- Whether user data is separate from cached market data.
- Whether the project provides an export or import command, and which format it supports.
- Whether restoring a backup replaces existing data or merges with it.
- Whether the procedure applies to the version of BolsaBuddy you are running, and whether it has been tested for that version.
Only after those details are confirmed should you make a copy using the documented method and verify that the copied data can be restored. A USB drive could serve as an optional place to hold a verified manual copy, but it is not a documented BolsaBuddy feature or a substitute for knowing which files to copy.
