To host an FTB Presents Integration by Parts DX server, choose either Feed The Beast’s official server files on your own machine or a managed Minecraft host that offers the pack preinstalled. The pack is Feed The Beast Pack ID 107, runs on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge, and its listing specifies at least 4 GB of RAM, 6 GB recommended, and Java 11. What the Integration by Parts DX server actually is
Integration by Parts DX is a modded Feed The Beast pack, not a vanilla Minecraft server. Every player must use a compatible client installation of the same pack and Minecraft version. The server side uses Forge for Minecraft 1.16.5, so a vanilla 1.16.5 client or a different modpack will not be an equivalent installation.
The pack is identified in Feed The Beast’s catalogue as Pack ID 107. Use that identity when selecting files in an installer or a hosting panel; similarly named packs can otherwise lead to a server and clients running different mods or configuration files.

Choose between self-hosting and managed hosting

Self-hosting does not mean the server is free: electricity, hardware, storage, bandwidth and time are operating costs. Managed hosting converts those responsibilities into a monthly service charge. The important technical threshold is memory. Four gigabytes is the stated floor for the pack; a real multiplayer instance should start at the 6 GB recommendation and leave additional memory for the operating system and other services.

Memory
The pack listing states 4 GB RAM minimum and 6 GB recommended. The minimum is a starting requirement, not a promise of comfortable performance for several players. Allocate no more memory than the machine can spare: the operating system, Java process overhead and any control-panel or backup software also need RAM. A machine with 8 GB total system memory, for example, should not blindly assign all 8 GB to Java.

The listed runtime is Java 11. Confirm the current requirement on the official pack page and in the server installer before launching. Do not substitute Java 8 based on an old modded-Minecraft guide; no verified pack requirement in the available material supports Java 8.
After installing Java, check the runtime from a terminal or command prompt with java -version. The output should identify a Java 11 runtime. If the command is missing or reports another major version, correct the system path or select the Java executable explicitly in your launch script or hosting panel.
Self-hosting with Feed The Beast’s official files
Feed The Beast provides an official server installer and a server-files browser for Windows, macOS, Linux and FreeBSD. The pack page’s Versions tab is the place to check for the current server files. Because pack files can change, select the version shown there rather than relying on an old filename copied from a forum post.
1. Prepare a dedicated server directory
Create a new folder used only for this server. Keeping the world, configuration, logs and mods together makes backups and later migrations much easier. Avoid installing into a personal Downloads folder that may be cleaned automatically, and avoid a path that requires administrator permissions for every edit.

Give the machine a fixed local address if you will forward a port from a home router. A changing local address can make a previously working forwarding rule point to the wrong computer.
2. Install and verify Java 11
Install a 64-bit Java 11 runtime appropriate for the operating system. Open a new terminal after installation and run java -version. If multiple Java versions are installed, make sure the installer and the eventual start script use Java 11 rather than whichever executable happens to appear first in the system path.
3. Download the official installer or server files
Open the Integration by Parts DX page in Feed The Beast’s server-files browser, select the current entry from the Versions tab, and choose the package for Windows, macOS, Linux or FreeBSD. Keep the downloaded archive or installer associated with Pack ID 107; do not combine files from another FTB pack.
The installer output is authoritative for the exact jar names, folder layout and launch files. Those details can change between pack releases, so do not assume that a script or filename from a different version applies here.

4. Run the installer into the server directory
Point the installer at the empty directory you prepared. Let it finish extracting the Forge server, pack mods, configuration and support files. When it completes, inspect the directory before starting the process. You should see the files the installer created, including a server jar or launch mechanism, configuration folders and an eula.txt file or an equivalent first-run prompt.
If the installer reports a missing Java executable, return to the Java step and select the Java 11 binary explicitly. If it stops with a permission error, use a directory where your account can read and write files rather than repeatedly running the server as an administrator.

5. Handle the EULA exactly as the installer requests
Standard Minecraft server distributions normally require acceptance of the Minecraft EULA in eula.txt before a server will start. Whether this pack’s current installer creates that file immediately or displays a different prompt must be confirmed from the generated files and README. Read the EULA, then follow the installer’s documented acceptance step; do not copy an acceptance file from another server.
6. Start once, then stop cleanly
Run the launch file supplied by the installer, or use the jar name shown in its output. On a command line, a generic memory pattern looks like this:

Replace <server-jar> with the actual filename and use the launch script supplied with your download if one exists. Set the maximum heap only after accounting for the host machine’s total RAM. A 6 GB heap on a machine with exactly 6 GB of physical memory leaves no room for the operating system.
The first launch may generate additional configuration files and stop until the EULA requirement is satisfied. Read the console output rather than repeatedly restarting. To stop a running server, use its console’s normal stop command so the world saves; closing the terminal or killing the process risks corruption.
7. Review the generated server settings
Open server.properties after the first successful start. Check the port, server name, difficulty, view distance and any other setting you intend to change. The pack-specific material does not establish a required port number, so use the value actually present in your generated file rather than assuming a default.
Change gameplay settings only after confirming that every player understands the effect. Modpacks can add their own configuration files under the generated config directory; edit those files only when the pack documentation or an in-game setting identifies the option.

8. Make the server reachable
For players on the same home network, connect using the host machine’s local address and the port shown in server.properties. For players outside that network, allow the Java server through the operating system firewall and forward the same port from the router to the server’s fixed local address. The router’s forwarding interface varies by manufacturer, so verify the rule against the address and port displayed by your server.
Do not expose unrelated administrative services to the internet. Use a firewall rule limited to the Minecraft port, keep the operating system and Java runtime patched, and give the server account only the file permissions it needs. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; a public address or a hosted server may then be necessary.
9. Test with one client before inviting everyone
Install the same Integration by Parts DX release on a test client. Confirm that the client is using Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge, then connect from the same network first. After local access works, test from an external connection such as a phone hotspot. This separates mod or configuration problems from router and firewall problems.

Several providers list Integration by Parts DX as an installable or preinstalled pack. The exact panel labels and billing terms vary, but the common workflow is to order a Minecraft server, select the pack, wait for provisioning, and manage the instance through the provider’s control panel.

CreeperHost and Spot.gg also list hosted pages for the pack, but the available information does not specify the same provisioning details. Read the selected plan’s documentation before paying, especially its memory allocation, backup policy, file access and modpack-version controls.
What to check before ordering
- Allocated memory: choose a tier that reaches the pack’s 6 GB recommendation for a group, not merely the 4 GB floor.
- Version selection: confirm that the panel offers FTB Presents Integration by Parts DX for Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge.
- File access: verify that you can download logs, edit configuration and upload an existing world.
- Backups: check whether backups are automatic, how many restore points exist and whether they are stored separately from the server.
- Network controls: identify how the panel exposes the server address, port, whitelist and operator permissions.
- Migration: confirm that world and configuration files can be downloaded if you later move to self-hosting or another provider.
Provisioning and first login
- Create the server through the provider’s Minecraft product page or control panel and select Integration by Parts DX.
- Wait for the installation status to report completion before changing files.
- Open the console and confirm that the reported Minecraft version is 1.16.5 and that Forge and the pack load without errors.
- Copy the displayed address and port into a matching client installation.
- Set operator access and a whitelist through the panel rather than sharing the account password with players.
- Make a backup before changing mod configuration or uploading a different world.
World uploads, backups and updates
Uploading an existing world
Stop the server before replacing its world. Compressing the world folder can make transfers faster, but use the panel’s documented World Manager or file manager so the provider places the folder at the path the server expects. Preserve the folder name referenced by level-name in server.properties, or update that setting through the panel after verifying the uploaded name.
Never overwrite the only copy of a working world. Download a local backup first, record the pack version that created it and keep the previous folder until the replacement has loaded successfully.
Routine backups
Stop the server or use a provider’s built-in backup function before copying world files. A useful backup set includes the world folder, server.properties, the config directory, scripts, whitelist and operator files. Label each archive with the date and pack version. Periodically restore a backup to a separate test directory; a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.
Updating the pack
Check the official Versions tab before updating. Do not replace individual mods from an unrelated release. Make a complete backup, stop the server, install the new server files in a separate directory or follow the host’s pack-update function, then test with a matching client. Keep the old directory until the new world has loaded and players have confirmed that their inventories and modded blocks are intact.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The server refuses to start and mentions Java
Run java -version in the same account and environment used to launch the server. Select a 64-bit Java 11 executable explicitly if multiple versions exist. Re-run the official installer if Forge files were only partially extracted, and read the first error in the console rather than the final cascade of messages.
The process starts but runs out of memory
Confirm the maximum heap and the machine’s total RAM. The pack’s 4 GB figure is a floor and 6 GB is the stated recommendation; a busy group may need a larger machine, but increasing -Xmx cannot compensate for insufficient physical memory. Close other services, reduce unnecessary view or simulation distance settings, and check the log for the exact allocation failure before moving to a larger host.
Players cannot connect from outside the house
Test locally first. If local clients work, compare the port in server.properties with the router forwarding rule and firewall exception. Confirm that forwarding targets the server’s current local address. If the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, ask the provider whether a public address is available or move the server to a managed host.
A client reports missing mods or an incompatible version
Compare the client’s pack release, Minecraft version and Forge loader with the server files. Reinstall the exact Integration by Parts DX version selected by the server. Do not copy only the server’s mods folder into an unrelated client profile; the pack’s configuration and dependency set must match as a whole.
A world fails after an update
Stop immediately and restore the pre-update backup rather than repeatedly opening the world with different versions. Confirm that the server and every client use the same pack release, then consult the release notes or host support documentation for migration requirements. Keep the old server directory available while testing the updated copy.
