To host a Solo Leveling: Reawakening Minecraft server, use the matching Minecraft 1.20.1 server pack with Forge 47.2.0, Java 17 and GeckoLib 4.4.2. Install that pack on the server and install the identical modpack version on every player’s client. For a shared world, choose Regular World rather than Story Mode, which is organized around one main story player.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
You can run the server on your own computer or use CurseForge Servers for managed provisioning. Self-hosting gives you control over files, settings and backups, while managed hosting handles server deployment and gives friends a share link or import code. The procedures below cover both options, version matching, networking, world setup and the most common connection failures.

What you need for a working server
Use one exact software combination for the cited Reawakening build:
| Component | Required target | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | The modpack and server pack are built for this game version. |
| Mod loader | Forge 47.2.0 | The server and clients must use the same Forge generation. |
| Java | Java 17 | Use this runtime to launch the Forge server and client. |
| Library | GeckoLib 4.4.2 | This dependency must be present wherever the pack requires it. |
| Server files | The matching Solo Leveling: Reawakening server-pack ZIP | A server pack contains files prepared for dedicated multiplayer deployment. |
The project’s installation requirement is explicit: “The mod must be installed on both the server and every joining client.” A client that only has the base game, or a server that has a different modpack revision, will not form a compatible connection.

Choose the right world type
Select Regular World when several friends should explore and progress together. The pack guide describes Story Mode as following one main story player; that structure can produce unexpected progression when multiple people are meant to share the same open world.
Check the server-pack release
The CurseForge project listing researched for this guide shows the latest listed Reawakening server-pack release as August 11, 2026. Select the server pack that matches the client release you intend to distribute. Do not assume that the newest client profile and an older server ZIP are interchangeable.
Self-hosting: install the server on your own machine
Self-hosting is the best fit when you want direct access to the world directory, configuration files and logs, and you are willing to maintain the machine. You are responsible for starting the process, applying updates, keeping backups and making the address reachable to friends.
1. Install Java 17
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the computer that will run the server. After installation, open a terminal or command prompt and check the runtime:
java -version
The output should identify Java 17. If it reports another major version, correct the system PATH or use the full path to the Java 17 executable in the server start script. A server that silently launches with a different Java version can fail before a world is created.

2. Download and unpack the matching server pack
- Open the Solo Leveling: Reawakening project’s files in CurseForge.
- Select the Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge server pack that matches the client release you will use.
- Download the ZIP whose filename is
Solo_Leveling_Reawakening_Server_Pack.zip. - Create a dedicated folder for this server, such as
SoloLevelingServer, rather than unpacking into a general Downloads directory. - Extract the ZIP into that folder and keep the directory structure intact.
Use the prepared server pack instead of copying a random client profile. CurseForge’s server-pack guidance describes these archives as versions prepared to make multiplayer deployment easier; they normally include the loader files, launch script and mod/dependency layout expected by the pack.
3. Run Forge and accept the EULA
Run the included Forge installer or start script from the server directory. On the first launch, the server may stop after creating files. Open eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA, and change the acceptance line to:
eula=true
Start the server again. A successful first run generates configuration files, a world directory and log files. Keep the terminal window or service log available while configuring the instance; startup errors identify missing Java, Forge or mod files much faster than a silent desktop shortcut.
4. Configure server.properties
Stop the server cleanly before editing configuration. Open server.properties in a text editor and set the options that affect your group:
- Server name: Give the instance a recognizable name so players can distinguish it from other profiles.
- Difficulty: Select the difficulty your group wants before inviting players.
- View distance and simulation distance: Lower values can reduce the amount of terrain and activity the server processes; raise them only when the machine and player count can handle the load.
- Whitelist: Enable it for a private group, then add each player’s Minecraft name. This prevents an accidental public server when the address is shared.
- Online mode: Keep the authentication setting appropriate for your group and account setup. Changing it affects who can authenticate and should not be treated as a performance switch.
- Operator permissions: Grant operator status only to trusted administrators. An operator can change rules and affect the world for everyone.
Save the file and restart the server. Make configuration changes while the server is stopped; otherwise a running process can overwrite them when it closes.

5. Create or select a Regular World
On a new installation, let the server generate a world and verify that it opens as a Regular World. If you are moving an existing world, stop the server, copy the world folder into the server directory and confirm that the world name in server.properties points to that folder. Keep the original copy untouched until the replacement has been tested.
6. Install the identical pack on every client
- Have each player install the same Minecraft 1.20.1 profile in the CurseForge app.
- Select the same Solo Leveling: Reawakening release used by the server.
- Confirm that the profile uses Forge 47.2.0 and Java 17.
- Allow the launcher to install every dependency, including GeckoLib 4.4.2 where the selected pack requires it.
- Launch the profile once in single-player so files finish downloading, then close it before joining the server.
Do not add or remove individual mods casually. A client’s mod list, versions and dependency set must match the server’s. If you make a server-side change, distribute the same change to every player before they reconnect.
7. Make the address reachable
Players on the same home network can usually connect using the host computer’s local address. Players outside that network need the address and port exposed by your router or another networking method. Share the current address and port privately, and keep the whitelist enabled for an invite-only world.
Test with one friend before announcing the server to the entire group. The friend should connect using the exact address shown by the host’s current network setup. If your network address changes, send the updated address rather than relying on an old bookmark.

Stop the server and copy the world directory, server.properties, whitelist and operator files, and the pack’s configuration directories to a separate location. Keep at least one backup that is not inside the live server folder. Test a restore on a spare directory before you depend on the backup; a file that was copied incompletely is not a usable recovery plan.

Managed hosting through CurseForge Servers
Managed hosting removes most manual deployment and port-forwarding work. CurseForge describes its server service as supporting modpacks with a matching server pack; the service is powered by Shockbyte. You choose the pack, select a plan and region, enter server details and purchase. The service then provisions the instance rather than requiring you to upload files and configure a network-facing machine yourself.
Published plan options
CurseForge Support lists these 2026 plan figures:
| Plan | Monthly price | Memory | CPU allocation | Listed players |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | $12/month | 4 GB RAM | 2 shared CPUs | 1–5 |
| Gold | $24/month | 8 GB RAM | 3 shared CPUs | 6–15 |
| Diamond | $36/month | 12 GB RAM | 4 shared CPUs | 16–25 |
These are the published figures for the 2026 support information and may depend on the region or service terms shown at checkout. A modpack with more mods, more loaded chunks or more simultaneous players can need a larger tier because memory use rises with mod count. Choose a region close to most players to reduce network latency, and check the provider’s current availability before paying.

Hosted setup procedure
- Open CurseForge Servers and choose Solo Leveling: Reawakening from the supported modpacks.
- Select the matching server-pack version, not merely a similarly named client release.
- Choose a region and a plan with enough RAM for the expected player count and mod load.
- Enter the server name and other requested details, then complete the purchase.
- Wait for provisioning to finish and confirm that the selected pack and version appear in the server control panel.
- Start the server and wait for its status to show that it is ready before attempting to connect.
CurseForge says its friend-sharing feature can provide a direct link or import code. A friend who opens that link or code in the CurseForge app receives the server profile, modpack, IP address and connection information, then installs the matching profile and joins. This reduces manual copying of addresses and pack versions, but each player still needs the compatible Minecraft and Forge installation.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | CurseForge Servers |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront and recurring cost | No hosting subscription is required, but you provide and operate the machine and network. | Published plans are $12, $24 or $36 per month for Iron, Gold or Diamond; checkout terms and availability apply. |
| Initial setup | Install Java, unpack the server ZIP, run Forge, accept the EULA and configure files. | Select a supported pack, plan and region; the service provisions the server. |
| File and configuration control | Direct access to world, configuration, logs, scripts and backups. | Control is provided through the host’s panel and service features; access depends on the plan. |
| Networking | You must make the server address reachable to outside players and communicate the current port. | CurseForge advertises managed access without manual file uploads or port forwarding. |
| Maintenance | You handle Java, pack updates, restarts, backups, security and uptime. | The provider handles infrastructure and provisioning; you still need to select correct pack versions and manage gameplay settings. |
| Scaling | Limited by the host machine’s memory, CPU and connection. | Choose a larger RAM/CPU tier when mod count or player count demands it. |
| Friend onboarding | Send the address and have every player install the matching profile manually. | Use the direct link or import code to deliver the server profile and connection details. |
Choose self-hosting when control and hands-on administration matter more than convenience. Choose managed hosting when you want a faster deployment, a hosted region and simpler friend onboarding, and the recurring plan cost fits your group.

Joining a self-hosted instance
- Install and launch the exact Reawakening profile used by the server.
- Open Multiplayer, choose Add Server or Direct Connection, and enter the host’s current address and port.
- Connect only after the host has started the server and its console reports that the world is ready.
- If the whitelist is enabled, make sure the player’s Minecraft name was added before they try to join.
Joining a managed instance
- Open the owner’s CurseForge direct link or enter the import code in the CurseForge app.
- Install the profile that the link supplies and allow the app to complete the matching modpack installation.
- Launch that profile, select Multiplayer and use the supplied connection entry.
- Report the exact error text to the owner if the profile or server address does not appear; do not substitute another Reawakening version.
Troubleshooting startup and connection failures
The server will not start
- Run
java -versionand verify Java 17, not another major release. - Confirm that the server pack is for Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.2.0.
- Check the server log for a missing dependency, especially GeckoLib 4.4.2 where the selected build requires it.
- Make sure the ZIP was fully extracted and that the start script is being run from the server directory.
- Verify that the EULA file contains
eula=trueafter you have accepted the terms.
A client reports a mod-list or version mismatch
Compare the server’s pack release, Forge version, Minecraft version and dependency files with the client profile. Reinstall the client profile from the same release if files were manually changed. Do not fix a mismatch by adding an unverified replacement mod; use the exact server-pack and client-pack combination.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
The world opens but progression is wrong
Check whether the server was created as Story Mode when the group expected an open world. Story Mode follows one main story player, while Regular World is the multiplayer-oriented choice described by the pack guide. Decide the intended mode before investing time in a shared save; changing modes later may not recreate progression already written to the world.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA hosted deployment stalls or uses the wrong files
- Open the host panel and verify the selected server-pack version, Minecraft version and Forge build.
- Wait for provisioning to complete before changing files or starting the instance repeatedly.
- If the panel reports a wrong server pack, redeploy with the matching server ZIP rather than uploading a client profile.
- Check the provider’s provisioning status and troubleshooting information if the instance never reaches a ready state.
Friends cannot connect
- Confirm that the server is running and that the friend is using the current address and port.
- For a self-hosted machine, recheck the network path and any router or firewall rule that controls outside access.
- For CurseForge Servers, resend the current direct link or import code if the server profile changed.
- Have the friend open the supplied profile and verify that the modpack, Forge and Java targets match the server.
- Check the whitelist if the connection reaches the server but the player is refused.
The server becomes unstable as more players join
Review the number of active players, loaded areas and modpack size before changing world settings. On managed hosting, move to a tier with more RAM when the pack’s memory demand exceeds the selected plan. On a self-hosted machine, reduce view or simulation distance and close other applications competing for resources. Make one change at a time, restart cleanly and retain a backup before testing.
Maintenance checklist
- Record the exact Minecraft, Forge, Java, GeckoLib and Reawakening versions in a note shared with administrators.
- Back up the world and configuration files before updating the pack or changing world settings.
- Test updates on a copy of the world before replacing the live instance.
- Keep the whitelist and operator list limited to people who should access or administer the server.
- After an update, have one player connect first and verify world loading, progression and mod behavior before inviting everyone.
- When a friend cannot join, collect the full error message and compare versions before deleting files or regenerating the world.
Recommended setup for most groups
For a small group that wants an open shared adventure, deploy the matching 1.20.1 Forge server pack, select Regular World, and require every player to use the same Reawakening profile with Java 17, Forge 47.2.0 and the required GeckoLib version. Self-host if someone in the group can maintain the machine, network access and backups. Otherwise, use CurseForge Servers, select a plan appropriate to the player count and mod load, and distribute the generated link or import code.
The first connection test should happen with one trusted friend. Once that player can enter, load the world and confirm progression, add the rest of the group and keep the tested backup as your recovery point.
