Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose a game that lets guests join a live session in a browser with a room code, link, or QR code. Check the host requirements separately: guests may be able to play without accounts even when the person hosting must buy or sign in to access the game.
First, separate guest signup from host setup
“No account needed” can describe only the players joining a session—not the person creating it. Before the event, verify whether the host needs an account, a paid game, an app, or a particular plan, and what guests need on their devices. A nickname and session code are not the same as registering an account.

Jackbox: a straightforward browser-joining setup
Jackbox’s documented arrangement is a good fit when you want one person to run the game while everyone else joins from their own device. The host purchases and installs a Party Pack on a supported computer or console, launches a game, and displays its lobby on a screen. Guests visit jackbox.tv, enter the four-letter room code and a display name, then play in a browser. Jackbox support says a player account is not required.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Prepare the host device: Purchase and install the Party Pack on the platform you plan to use, then connect that device to a television or other screen everyone can see.
- Start the session: Launch a game and wait for the lobby and room code to appear.
- Invite guests: Have players open jackbox.tv, enter the four-letter code, and choose a display name. Jackbox’s joining instructions specify browser support for cookies, websockets, HTML5, and JavaScript.
- For remote guests: Share the host screen through a video call or other screen-sharing service so players can see the game. Send the code to the intended players privately before showing the lobby to a larger audience.
Jackbox says some of its games support password-protected rooms, which can help restrict unwanted entrants. Availability depends on the game, so check the specific title’s options. Jackbox support describes its account requirement this way: “You don’t need to create an account with us to play.” Its statement about owning a game after purchase applies to games bought on the platform where they were purchased; Jackbox also describes a separate Amazon Luna subscription, so access is not necessarily a one-time purchase in every case.

How the options differ
| Service and fit | Host requirements | Guest joining | Screen and access considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jackbox Party games |
The documented setup has the host purchase and install a Party Pack. Guest account-free play does not establish that every access method is purchase-only. | Browser at jackbox.tv; four-letter room code and display name. Jackbox says an account is not required to play. | The host displays the game screen in person or shares it remotely. Some games offer passworded rooms; check the particular game. |
| Kahoot! Quizzes and group games |
Guest hosting without login is a separate feature with plan and settings restrictions; some interactive question types still prompt a guest host to sign in. | Kahoot’s help center says participants “usually” do not need an account. They may join with a game PIN, direct link, or QR code. | Host settings may request an identifier or an additional security step. Confirm the host plan and exact question types before relying on account-free hosting. |
| Mentimeter Voting and presentation interaction |
Host account or plan requirements are not established here. | Remote participants can use a code, QR code, or direct voting link. | Verified-participant settings can require login; leave that access control off when anonymous input is desired. This is an audience interaction tool, not a like-for-like party-game choice. |
Make remote play manageable
Remote players need two things: a way to see the host’s game screen and the session code to join. Use a screen-sharing service that suits your group, and share the code directly with invited players rather than broadcasting it to a wider audience. A code or nickname reduces signup friction, but does not by itself guarantee privacy or anonymity.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check these details before game night
- Host versus guest: Confirm separately whether the host needs an account, purchase, subscription, or particular creator plan, and whether guests need an account.
- Device and connection: Find out whether guests need a browser or app, and whether the host screen must be visible to everyone. For Jackbox browser play, check that cookies, websockets, HTML5, and JavaScript are supported.
- Join method: Tell guests whether to use a room code, PIN, link, or QR code, and whether they should choose a display name.
- Session controls: Check whether the game supports a password or other access restriction, and whether host settings or particular modes change the joining flow.
Account-free joining means the documented flow does not require guests to register; it is not a promise about what data a service retains. Features, plans, and game modes can change, so verify the exact product and settings you will use.
