To host a Nomifactory GTCEu server, choose either a managed Minecraft host that installs the pack for you or run the official server pack on your own machine. Nomifactory CEu targets Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge, so every player must use the same modpack release, Minecraft version and Forge-compatible files as the server.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
Managed hosting is the quickest route: providers such as BisectHosting, CreeperHost, Akliz and StickyPiston offer Nomifactory installations with published memory guidance. Self-hosting gives you control over files and updates, but you must select the correct server archive, install the Forge build required by that release, allocate enough memory and handle backups, networking and troubleshooting yourself.
What Nomifactory GTCEu is
Nomifactory CEu is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2. It is a fork of Nomifactory built around GregTech: Community Edition (GTCEu) and related technology, automation and progression mods. The pack is commonly described as an expert-style pack with a relatively approachable start, but its server has the same practical requirements as any large 1.12.2 Forge installation: the server and clients must agree on the exact release and their installed configuration must remain synchronized.

The 1.12.2 requirement is not interchangeable with modern Minecraft server software. A 1.20.x server, a vanilla 1.12.2 server or a different GregTech pack will not load the same world correctly. Treat the pack version as part of the server address: record it for every player and keep the server archive, client installation and configuration backups together.
Choose managed hosting or self-hosting
| Consideration | Managed host | Self-hosted machine |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Select Nomifactory in the provider’s Minecraft or modpack panel; installation is automated. | Download and extract the server pack, install or use its specified Forge files, set memory and complete first startup. |
| Monthly cost | Provider pricing varies; the supplied specifications do not state a price. | No hosting fee is stated, but you provide the computer, storage, electricity and internet connection. |
| File and mod control | Usually available through a file manager or panel, subject to the provider’s controls. | Full control over scripts, configuration, backups and additional files. |
| Updates | The panel may offer an install or version selector, but you still need to verify that all players use the same release. | You decide when to replace the server files and must preserve world, configuration and backup data. |
| Maintenance | The provider supplies the machine, storage and dashboard; you still manage the world and modpack settings. | You are responsible for operating-system updates, firewall rules, uptime, monitoring and recovery. |
Choose managed hosting if you want the shortest path to a playable server or do not want to expose a home connection. Choose self-hosting if you already have a suitable always-on machine and want complete control over files and schedules.

Managed Nomifactory hosting
A managed installation avoids manually assembling a 1.12.2 Forge server. Before paying, confirm the provider’s current Nomifactory CEu entry, available pack version and memory limits; the published pages are not all dated the same way.
BisectHosting
In the Minecraft game selector, choose Nomifactory GTCEu. The pack is listed as pre-installed, and the provider recommends 6 GB of RAM. After the server is provisioned, use its panel to start the instance, review the console and share the connection address with players. Install the identical Nomifactory release in the CurseForge launcher on each client.
CreeperHost
Create a Minecraft Java server in the dashboard, search the modpack list for Nomifactory, select a version and choose Install. The listing specifies 4,000 MB minimum RAM, a minimum CPU description of 3 × 4.5 GHz and at least 35 GB of SSD storage. Those figures are minimum listing requirements, not a guarantee of a particular tick rate; leave room for the operating system and other processes when selecting a plan.
Akliz
The documented workflow is to create a new server in the Command Center, install Nomifactory there and start it. On each computer that connects, install the same pack version in the CurseForge launcher. A server that has been updated independently of the clients can produce missing-mod, registry or protocol errors, so write down the version shown in the panel before inviting anyone.

StickyPiston
Its Nomifactory guidance lists 6 GB as a minimum and 7 GB as a recommendation for a friends or public server. Some of the provider’s pages may be about two years old, so verify that the offered image is a current Nomifactory CEu release and that the memory and storage limits still apply before ordering.
Managed-host setup checklist
- Create the server using the provider’s Minecraft Java option, not a vanilla template.
- Search the modpack catalog for Nomifactory or Nomifactory GTCEu and select a specific release.
- Wait for installation to finish, then start the server and read the console for a completed startup rather than assuming that a green panel means the world is ready.
- Install the same release on every client through the launcher named by the provider or pack instructions.
- Join with the supplied address, test a new player account and verify that the world saves before opening the server to a larger group.
Get the correct self-hosted server files
The official Nomifactory CEu project on CurseForge lists downloadable server packs. At the time covered by the available release information, the newest listed file is 1.7.7-server, dated January 5, 2026. The preceding 1.7.6-server archive is named nomi-ceu-1.7.6-server.zip, is approximately 214.5 MB and was uploaded December 24, 2025; its listing identifies it as a Forge server pack for Minecraft 1.12.2.
Older entries include 1.7.3-server from October 2024 and 1.7a-server from September 2024. A file date is useful when several archives have similar names, but it does not by itself prove that a release is compatible with your existing world. If you are continuing an established map, use the same release first and read that release’s changelog before attempting an upgrade.
| Release entry | Available date in the listing | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 1.7.7-server | January 5, 2026 | Download availability, included Forge files and the release manifest. |
| 1.7.6-server | December 24, 2025 | nomi-ceu-1.7.6-server.zip, approximately 214.5 MB, labelled for Forge on 1.12.2. |
| 1.7.3-server | October 2024 | Whether it matches the client installation and the world you intend to use. |
| 1.7a-server | September 2024 | Whether an older client and its configuration are still available. |
The exact Forge build and the GTCEu build for 1.7.7 were not established in the available release information. Older listings show GTCEu 2.5.4 for version 1.5.2, while a 1.7-alpha-3 changelog mentions an update to GT 2.8.* and integration of Nomi Labs. Do not copy either older value into a 1.7.7 installation: inspect the selected release’s manifest, changelog or included files and use the versions they specify.

Self-hosting: a safe installation sequence
Use a new directory for each server release. Keeping an untouched archive and a separate live directory makes it possible to roll back if a configuration or mod change damages the world.
Recommended Free Tools
1. Prepare the machine
- Use a computer that can remain online for the hours your group plays.
- Reserve storage for the extracted pack, world saves, logs and multiple backups. The 35 GB figure published by one managed host is a minimum listing for that service, not a universal self-hosting requirement; world growth and backup retention determine your actual need.
- Close unrelated applications and leave memory for the operating system. Published host guidance ranges from 4,000 MB minimum to 6 GB recommended and 7 GB recommended for a larger friends or public server.
- Install the Java runtime required by the selected 1.12.2 Forge files. Because the exact Forge and Java combination is release-specific, follow the server pack’s included instructions or manifest rather than assuming that a current Java release will work.
2. Download and extract one server pack
- Download the selected server archive from the official Nomifactory CEu CurseForge project.
- Record the filename, release number and download date in a text file next to the archive.
- Extract it into a new directory with a simple path, such as a dedicated
nomifactory-serverfolder. Avoid mixing files from 1.7.6 and 1.7.7. - Look for the included Forge files, launch script, README and configuration directory. A correctly extracted pack should contain a
configdirectory; if it does not, the archive may have been nested one folder too deeply.
3. Use the pack’s Forge and launch files
Do not download a random Forge installer and assume it is interchangeable. The pack is built for Minecraft 1.12.2, but Forge build numbers still matter. Use the Forge jar, libraries and start script supplied by the selected server archive, or the exact build named in that release’s instructions. If the archive supplies separate Windows and Unix-like scripts, run the one appropriate to the host operating system and keep the working directory at the pack root.
The exact 1.7.7 start command was not established in the available release information, so a command copied from an older tutorial may point at the wrong jar or omit required libraries. When no script is supplied, inspect the release’s README or manifest for the command instead of guessing.
4. Complete the first launch
- Run the included start script once. The first run may create libraries, logs and configuration files before stopping.
- Open the generated
eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA and change the acceptance setting only if you agree to it. - Set the memory values in the supplied launch script or panel. Start conservatively within the published guidance: 4,000 MB is a listed minimum on one host, 6 GB is a common recommendation, and 7 GB is recommended by one provider for a larger server. Never allocate all system memory.
- Run the same script again and watch the console until it reports that the server has finished loading. A window that remains open without a completed log is not proof of a usable server.
5. Configure the world before inviting players
Stop the server cleanly before editing configuration files. Set the server name, difficulty and other options in the generated server properties file, then start it again to verify that the changes load. Grant operator rights only to trusted administrators, and use a whitelist for a private group. Keep the original configuration files in a backup so you can identify which change caused a later startup failure.

6. Make the server reachable
A home server must be reachable from outside the local network. Configure the host computer’s firewall and router according to your network equipment, or use a private tunnel service if your connection cannot accept inbound traffic. The exact port and tunnel procedure depend on the launch configuration and service you choose, so use the value shown in your generated server properties and the tunnel provider’s current documentation rather than copying a number from an unrelated tutorial.
Test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot, before publishing the address to friends. A successful connection from the host computer itself tests only the local path; it does not prove that outside players can reach the server.
7. Match every client
Each player should install Minecraft 1.12.2, the identical Nomifactory CEu release and the matching launcher profile. A different release can change mods, registries or configuration values even when the title looks similar. If the server console reports a missing mod or mismatched registry, compare the client and server file lists before changing anything on the live world.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The pack-mode-switcher script
The project description mentions a pack-mode-switcher script for CurseForge downloads. It is intended to be run from the pack root, the directory that contains /config. If you use it, first make a copy of the untouched extraction and run the script from that root rather than from a parent download folder. A missing config directory or an incorrect working directory can make the script select or modify the wrong files. Because the script’s options can change between releases, follow the instructions bundled with your chosen archive.
Best Value
Memory, storage and performance decisions
How much RAM should you allocate?
There is no single official allocation published for every Nomifactory release. The available hosting specifications provide a practical range: 4,000 MB appears as a minimum listing, 6 GB is recommended by one provider and 7 GB is recommended for friends or public use by another. Use the smallest allocation that completes startup and remains stable during your group’s normal activity, then increase it only when logs or operating-system monitoring show memory pressure. Giving the Java process more memory than the machine can physically spare makes the entire server less reliable.
Why storage matters
The server pack itself is only part of the footprint. The world, player data, logs, Forge libraries and retained backups continue to grow. Keep at least one backup outside the live directory and periodically remove old logs or move them to archival storage. If a managed plan advertises 35 GB, treat that as the provider’s stated minimum for that plan, not as a guarantee that every long-running world will fit indefinitely.
Reduce avoidable load
- Stop the server before replacing mods or editing configuration.
- Use a whitelist for a private server so unexpected players cannot create additional chunks or machines.
- Schedule backups when no one is crafting, exploring or processing large automation chains.
- Read the console for repeated errors instead of hiding them by restarting continuously.
Updating without losing a world
- Write down the current server and client release.
- Stop the server and copy the entire live directory, including the world,
config, scripts and server properties. - Read the target release’s changelog and verify its Forge and GTCEu requirements. The GTCEu build for 1.7.7 is not established by the available listing, so do not infer it from an older release.
- Install the new server files in a separate directory rather than overwriting the old one.
- Copy only the files the release instructions say to preserve, then start the new directory with a test copy of the world.
- Connect with a client updated to exactly the same release. If the test fails, stop the new server and restore the backup instead of opening the upgraded world to players.
Troubleshooting common failures
The server stops immediately
Check the first error in the console, not the final cascade of messages. Confirm that you extracted the archive completely, launched from its root, used the supplied Forge files and accepted the EULA. A guessed command or a Java runtime incompatible with the release can fail before the world loads.
Players see missing-mod or registry errors
Compare the exact release number, mod filenames and configuration set on the server and each client. Reinstalling only the client launcher profile will not repair a server that was built from a different archive.
Startup fails with an out-of-memory message
Lower the number of simultaneous applications, verify the Java process’s memory setting and ensure that the host has physical memory beyond the allocation. If the machine cannot provide the 6–7 GB commonly recommended by hosting listings, reduce the player count or move the server to a larger machine rather than assigning memory the operating system does not have.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe pack-mode-switcher does nothing
Run it from the extracted pack root containing config, check that the script has permission to execute and read the release-specific instructions. Make a clean copy before trying again.
Local connections work but friends cannot join
Test from another network, check the host firewall and router forwarding, and confirm that the address and configured port match the running server. If the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound traffic, use a tunnel or a managed host.
Quick Recap
Which route is right for your group?
- Use managed hosting when you want an installation wizard, a dashboard and a provider responsible for the underlying machine. Verify the current pack version and memory limits, because provider pages can age at different rates.
- Self-host when you can maintain an always-on computer, perform backups and troubleshoot Forge 1.12.2. Keep every release in its own directory and never upgrade a valuable world without a tested backup.
- Start small, then scale when player numbers are uncertain. The published guidance spans 4,000 MB minimum to 7 GB recommended; observe actual memory use and world behavior before committing to a larger plan.
