To host Mystical Block, use the dedicated Mystical Block Server Version 2.7.3 pack with a Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge server, then require every player to use the identical client profile. You can run it on your own computer or choose a managed host that explicitly supports this older Forge pack. There is no authoritative, pack-specific RAM number, so allocate memory according to concurrent players, view distance, chunk loading and observed tick performance.

What Mystical Block is and which version you need
Mystical Block is described by its author as “a skyblock type modpack where the main focus is Mystical Agriculture.” A new world starts with an Inferium seed, a wooden hoe and bread. Progression comes from expanding the island, advancing through seed tiers and building the pack’s custom machines.

The server and every connecting client must use that same Minecraft version, Forge loader and modpack release. A 1.16.5 Forge server running another Mystical Block release is not an equivalent substitute: registry changes, configuration files and mods can differ between releases.
Pick local or managed hosting
Both approaches can work. The deciding factors are who will maintain the files, who handles the network, and whether the service explicitly supports the 1.16.5 server pack.

| Factor | Self-hosted on your computer | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Install Forge, extract the server pack, accept the EULA, configure properties and create a launch routine. | Usually a control panel, a pack selector or an installer; the provider handles the base machine. |
| File and backup control | Complete control over worlds, mods, configs, scripts and backup destinations. | Depends on the plan: check whether you can download the full world and edit configuration files. |
| Networking responsibility | You must handle firewall rules, port forwarding, a reachable address and your internet connection. | The provider supplies a public endpoint; you still need to distribute the address and secure accounts. |
| Recurring cost | No hosting subscription, but the computer uses electricity and your connection must remain online. | Monthly billing; price varies by memory, location, storage and support. |
| Player capacity | Limited by your CPU, memory, storage speed, upload bandwidth and other workloads on the machine. | Limited by the selected plan and the provider’s CPU, memory and fair-use limits. |
| Geographic latency | Best for players near your home connection; distant players may see higher latency. | You can often choose a region closer to the group, subject to available locations. |
| Exact-pack support | You control the exact 2.7.3 files. | Confirm that the host can install the 1.16.5 Forge server pack, not merely a similarly named pack. |
When local hosting makes sense
- You want unrestricted access to server files and world backups.
- The group is small and can play while the host computer is online.
- You are comfortable troubleshooting Java, Forge, firewall and router settings.
When managed hosting is easier
- The server must stay online when your PC is off.
- No one in the group can configure port forwarding or maintain a machine.
- You value a web panel, scheduled backups and support more than complete hardware control.
What to download
CurseForge lists a dedicated file named “Mystical Block Server Version: 2.7.3” for Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge. That server artifact was uploaded on January 13, 2024. Download that server pack rather than copying a client installation and assuming it is a server distribution.
Keep a record of the exact client profile name and version. If the launcher offers several Mystical Block files, select 2.7.3 for Minecraft 1.16.5. Do not mix a 2.7.3 server with a different client release, and do not add or remove mods casually: even a single missing or extra mod can prevent a connection or change world behavior.
Self-host Mystical Block step by step
1. Create a clean server directory
Make a new folder used only for this server. A clean directory prevents old Forge libraries, worlds and configuration files from being mistaken for the files belonging to Mystical Block. Put it on storage with enough free space for the initial world and continuing backups.
2. Install the Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge server
Run the Forge server installer for Minecraft 1.16.5 and select the new directory as its destination. Let the installer download or create the required Forge libraries. Do not point it at a vanilla server folder or at a different Minecraft version.
3. Extract the dedicated Mystical Block server pack
Extract the contents of the 2.7.3 server download into the Forge server directory. If your archive program creates an extra nested folder, move the pack’s files up one level so that the Forge files, mods and configuration directories are together in the directory you intend to run.

4. Start once, accept the EULA and stop cleanly
Launch the Forge server using the start script or server command created by the Forge installation. The first launch generates files and normally stops or refuses to continue until the Minecraft EULA is accepted. Open eula.txt, read the license, change the acceptance line to eula=true if you agree, save it, then start the server again. Once the world finishes generating, stop the server from its console rather than closing the window abruptly.

Edit the generated server.properties while the server is stopped. Set the options that affect how your group plays:
- Server name: Give players a recognizable name in their multiplayer list.
- Difficulty: Choose the setting appropriate for your group; skyblock areas can still produce dangerous mobs.
- Whitelist: Enable it for a private group and add each player’s exact Minecraft name before sharing the address.
- View distance: Start conservatively. Larger distances make the server maintain more chunks and can increase memory and tick load.
- Port: Keep the configured value consistent with your firewall and router forwarding rule. If you change it, tell players the new endpoint.
Change one setting at a time when diagnosing performance. Save a copy of the original file so you can restore a known-good configuration.
6. Set Java heap deliberately
Forge’s launch script contains Java heap settings such as -Xms and -Xmx. Set those values for the machine and group instead of copying a number from an unrelated modpack. Mystical Block’s cited project pages do not publish a guaranteed RAM requirement.
Begin with enough headroom for the operating system and other services. Then observe memory use and tick performance while several players explore, grow crops, run machines and load new chunks. Increase the heap only when monitoring shows memory pressure; assigning nearly all physical RAM to Java can make the operating system swap and make the server less stable.

7. Start the server and test locally
Start the server again and wait for its console to report that the world is ready. Connect from a client running the exact Mystical Block 2.7.3 profile. Test joining, placing and breaking blocks, opening a machine, growing a crop, leaving and rejoining, and loading an unexplored area. These checks catch an incomplete extraction or mismatched configuration before you invite the whole group.
8. Give players the connection details
Players need the server address, the port if it is not implicit in the address, and instructions to install Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge with Mystical Block 2.7.3. Tell them not to launch a newer Minecraft profile and not to update individual mods. If the whitelist is enabled, collect their in-game names exactly as the server sees them.
Make an internet connection reachable
A local server is immediately useful on the same home network, but internet players need a path to the host computer. Allow the selected server port through the computer’s firewall and forward that port from the router to the computer running Forge. The forwarding target should be a stable local address; otherwise a router lease change can silently break the rule.
Test from outside your home network, such as a phone using cellular data. A test made from the host’s own machine can succeed even when the router blocks outside traffic. If outside testing fails, check the server console, operating-system firewall, router forwarding target and whether your internet provider places the connection behind carrier-grade NAT. In that last case, a managed host or a provider-supported tunnel may be required.

One-click installers
Apex Hosting publishes an installation guide for Mystical Block using its one-click installer. DedicatedMinecraft.host says Mystical Block can be selected from its CurseForge library in the control panel. These routes can remove manual Forge installation and port forwarding, but the selector may offer more than one release. Check the displayed Minecraft version, Forge version and pack number, and make sure you can access world files and backups before creating a long-term world.
CurseForge’s hosted-server product
CurseForge’s hosted-server documentation describes choosing a modpack and matching server ZIP, selecting a region and plan, and purchasing. The listed tiers are 4 GB for $12 per month, 8 GB for $24 per month and 12 GB for $36 per month. The documentation says the feature is available only for game versions above 1.20.1. Mystical Block 2.7.3 targets 1.16.5, so treat those tiers as currently incompatible unless the service explicitly adds support for this pack and version.

How much RAM does a Mystical Block server need?
No authoritative source cited for Mystical Block publishes a pack-specific number. A useful allocation depends on variables that change from group to group:
- Number of players online and how many explore simultaneously.
- View distance and the amount of terrain kept active.
- Chunk-loading machines, farms and automation running continuously.
- World size, exploration rate and the speed of storage used for saves.
- Other software sharing the computer.
Watch the server’s tick time, garbage-collection pauses, operating-system memory pressure and the console for repeated warnings. If the server remains responsive while players explore and automate, do not add RAM merely because a larger number sounds safer. If memory pressure coincides with long pauses, reduce view distance and unnecessary chunk loading first, then increase the Java maximum in measured steps while leaving room for the operating system.
| Symptom | Likely checks |
|---|---|
| Players rubber-band while new areas load | Reduce view distance, check CPU and storage activity, and inspect chunk-loading machines before changing RAM. |
| The process approaches its maximum heap and pauses frequently | Review active players and loaded chunks, then raise the heap only if the host has spare physical memory. |
| The host computer becomes unresponsive | Lower the Java maximum so the operating system retains memory; stop unrelated applications. |
| Performance degrades after adding automation | Identify always-loaded farms or machines and disable or relocate the expensive system. |
Backups, permissions and routine maintenance
Stop the server cleanly before copying a world. Keep at least one backup away from the live directory and retain several dated versions so a corrupted save is not the only copy. Test restoring a backup on a separate directory before you need it.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Use the whitelist for a private server and give operator privileges only to people who need them. Keep the server directory restricted to trusted users because it contains world data, configuration and potentially administrative credentials. Record changes to server.properties and mod configuration so you can reverse a change that causes a crash.
Do not update the pack, Forge or individual mods on the live world without a backup and a test copy. Have every player close the game before maintenance, make the backup, test the proposed update on a duplicate world, and announce the exact new client profile if you proceed.
Troubleshooting common failures
“Incompatible version” or a rejected connection
Confirm that both sides use Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge and Mystical Block 2.7.3. Compare the installed mod lists with the dedicated server pack. Remove manually added client-only or outdated files and reinstall the profile if necessary.
The server exits immediately
Check that you accepted the EULA, that Forge was installed in the intended directory and that the launch script points to the correct Java installation and server files. Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown message; the earliest missing library or configuration error is usually the useful clue.
Players cannot connect from outside the house
Verify the server is running locally, the operating-system firewall allows the chosen port, the router forwards that port to the correct computer and players are using the current public address. Test from a genuinely external network and check whether the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT.
Severe lag after several players join
Record which activity triggers the slowdown: exploration, crop growth, machine automation or a specific area. Lower view distance, stop unnecessary chunk loaders and check CPU, storage and memory pressure. A larger heap cannot fix a CPU-bound machine network or a saturated upload connection.
A world will not load after a change
Stop the server, restore the latest known-good backup to a separate test directory and identify the last mod, configuration or world edit applied. Never overwrite your only backup while experimenting with a repair.
A practical decision checklist
- Choose Mystical Block 2.7.3 for Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge and ensure every player can install that exact profile.
- Download the dedicated server pack rather than improvising from a client folder.
- Choose self-hosting if you want file control and can maintain networking; choose managed hosting if uptime and support matter more.
- For local hosting, install Forge in a clean directory, extract the pack, accept the EULA and configure
server.properties. - Set Java heap conservatively, monitor real tick and memory behavior, and adjust based on players and chunk activity.
- Before purchase, confirm a managed provider supports the 1.16.5 Forge artifact, the exact 2.7.3 release, backups and your preferred region.
- Back up before every update and require clients to change profiles only when the server changes.
Bottom line
The reliable setup is a matched pair: the Mystical Block 2.7.3 dedicated server pack on Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge, and the same profile on every client. Self-hosting gives maximum control but makes you responsible for Java, files, networking and backups. Managed services can simplify those jobs, yet their catalog, pricing and version support must be checked at purchase time. Since no fixed RAM requirement is published for the pack, size the server from observed player load and tick performance rather than a universal promise.
