Use the official DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack.zip for Minecraft 1.19.3 on Fabric, run it with a 64-bit Java 17 runtime, and have every player install the identical DarkRPG release through CurseForge. Extract the server pack into its own directory, start the Fabric executable launcher, accept the Minecraft EULA, then configure server.properties and your host’s network settings. The 6.5.2 server pack was released June 28, 2023; 6.5.1 is an older 1.19.3 Fabric file dated June 24, 2023.

What you need before installing DarkRPG
DarkRPG is distributed as a modpack with a separate server artifact. A client export is not a substitute for that archive. Start by deciding where the server will run, then prepare the exact software versions below.

The DarkRPG project page lists “1,800+ quests” in its 2026 metadata. That figure describes the pack’s content, not a tested server capacity. No authoritative source publishes a player limit, guaranteed RAM allocation, latency figure or reproducible TPS benchmark for DarkRPG 6.5.2 on Fabric 1.19.3.
Memory expectations
DarkRPG’s project guidance recommends 6–8 GB of RAM for the CurseForge client. That is a client recommendation, not a measured server requirement. A server’s actual memory use depends on player count, loaded chunks, view distance, automation and other settings. Begin with a conservative heap, observe the logs and operating-system memory, and increase it only when the machine has sufficient free RAM.

Download the correct DarkRPG server pack
- Open the official DarkRPG project on CurseForge and go to its files for Minecraft 1.19.3.
- Choose the Fabric file named DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack.zip, released June 28, 2023.
- Download the separate server-pack archive rather than exporting a client profile. The project also lists 6.5.1, released June 24, 2023; use it only if every client and your server are deliberately staying on that older release.
- Keep the archive intact until it is copied to the machine that will host the server. Do not combine files from 6.5.1, 6.5.2 or another Minecraft version.
The project maintainer’s setup guidance directs administrators to the CurseForge files page for the server pack. Treat the release number as part of the server identity: changing it changes the mod and configuration set that clients must match.
Install Java 17 and verify it
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the computer or host. Fabric’s official documentation states: “For Minecraft 1.17-1.20.4 we recommended using Java 17.” Verify the runtime from the same account and shell that will launch the server:

If it reports another major version, correct the system path or use the full path to the Java 17 executable in your startup script. A server that silently uses Java 8, Java 11 or an incompatible newer runtime can stop before Fabric loads, so check this again after moving files to a VPS or game-host panel.
Extract and assemble the Fabric server
1. Create a clean directory
Make a directory used only by this DarkRPG instance, such as darkrpg-1.19.3-fabric. Avoid placing it inside another modpack’s directory. Extract the complete server-pack archive directly into it. The resulting directory should contain the pack’s mods, config, scripts and other supplied files at the top level, not inside an unintended second folder.
2. Check for a usable launcher
Some server packs include a launcher or the files needed by a host; others expect you to provide the Fabric launcher. If the archive does not contain a usable launcher for your environment, download the Fabric server launcher configured for Minecraft 1.19.3 and place it in the server directory. Fabric describes this launcher as an executable JAR that first downloads missing Fabric Loader and Minecraft files, then runs the game server.
On a manually managed installation, the directory will normally include the Fabric launcher JAR, the extracted DarkRPG files and, after the first run, generated Minecraft and Fabric libraries. Do not delete supplied files simply because their purpose is not obvious.

java -Xmx2G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> noguiReplace the angle-bracketed text with the actual launcher filename. The example assigns a 2 GB maximum heap only as a starting command; it is not a DarkRPG capacity recommendation. Change -Xmx2G only after checking available system memory and observing the workload. Keep enough RAM for the operating system, the Java process and any host-panel services.
4. Accept the EULA
The first launch normally creates eula.txt and stops. Open that file, change the EULA value to eula=true only after reading and accepting Mojang’s terms, save it, and run the same command again. The DarkRPG project pages do not specify an additional DarkRPG-specific EULA procedure.
5. Configure the server
Edit server.properties after the initial files are generated. Set the port, difficulty, view distance, online-mode and access policy appropriate for your group. If the server is private, use an allowlist and share the connection address only with invited players. Make a backup before changing world-affecting settings or replacing pack files.

Ports, addresses and the first connection
The port in server.properties must be reachable from the players’ networks. On a home machine, that can require an operating-system firewall rule and a matching router or provider rule. On a VPS, open the same port in both the VPS firewall and any cloud-level firewall. Managed hosts usually expose a panel-defined address and port; use the values shown by that panel rather than assuming the settings from another provider.
Test locally first if the host and a client are on the same network, then test from an outside connection. A successful server process does not prove that the port is reachable. If remote players cannot connect, check that the process is listening on the configured port, that the firewall permits it, and that the address supplied to players points to the correct machine. Keep the address private when the server is intended only for an invited group.
Deploying on a VPS or remote machine
A VPS gives you shell-level control over the Java process and files, but you are responsible for the operating system, firewall, backups, monitoring and updates.
- Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime and verify it with
java -version. - Create the dedicated DarkRPG directory.
- Upload the extracted server-pack contents, preserving
mods,config, scripts and every other supplied file. - Upload or generate the Fabric launcher for Minecraft 1.19.3.
- Start the server once so Fabric can obtain missing files and generate libraries, then accept the EULA and restart.
- Open the configured Minecraft port in the VPS firewall and any provider-level network firewall.
- Run the server inside a service manager or persistent terminal session so an SSH disconnect does not terminate it, and arrange an independent backup of the world and configuration.
Fabric’s manual server guidance identifies the launcher, server.properties, server.jar and the complete libraries directory as the core files for remote deployment. The exact filenames can vary with the launcher and pack, so follow the files actually generated in your directory rather than renaming them to match an example.

Moving an existing installation
Stop the old process cleanly before copying anything. Transfer the world, mods, config, scripts, server.properties, launcher and generated libraries. Keep the destination on the same Minecraft, DarkRPG and Fabric versions for the first boot. Start with the copied files, review the log, and only then change the address or resource settings. This preserves the exact mod and configuration state instead of rebuilding it from a client profile.
Using a Minecraft host
Minecraft-specific hosts generally provide a control panel for the Java process, backups and networking. Select Fabric, not Forge, and confirm that the panel supports Minecraft 1.19.3 and Java 17. Upload the extracted DarkRPG server-pack files or use the panel’s custom-modpack upload flow; do not upload only a client profile.
The DarkRPG maintainer’s setup page says BisectHosting customers can install the latest DarkRPG Fabric version from that host’s CurseForge modpack menu. The official project page also says DarkRPG is pre-installed there and promotes it for starting an online server. Current prices, plan limits, regional availability and affiliate terms are not established here, so check the host’s live offer before purchasing and verify that it permits uploading the exact 6.5.2 server pack.
Make every client match the server
Each player should install DarkRPG through the CurseForge app, select Minecraft 1.19.3 and choose the same DarkRPG release used by the server. The project states: “Installation is to be done via the CurseForge app only. Other launchers are not supported.” Treat that as the supported client-install route, not as a suggestion to use a different launcher.
A client can fail to connect when any of these differ:
- Minecraft version (1.19.3 versus another release)
- DarkRPG pack version (6.5.2 versus 6.5.1 or another build)
- Fabric Loader version
- Mod list or individual mod versions
- Configuration files that the pack expects to remain synchronized
When diagnosing a mismatch, compare the server’s mods and config contents with a freshly installed client profile instead of copying arbitrary files between them.
Self-hosting, a VPS and managed hosting

The available sources establish these technical distinctions but do not provide a fair price, performance or latency comparison. Player location still matters: place a self-managed server or VPS near the majority of players, and ask a managed host which region and network limits apply before committing.

Choosing a heap and watching the workload
The -Xmx value is only the maximum Java heap; it is not the amount of physical RAM the whole machine needs. Leave memory for the operating system, file cache and any panel or backup process. Increase the heap in measured steps only when logs and system monitoring show pressure and the host has free capacity. If the machine remains constrained, lowering view distance and other workload-heavy values in server.properties may help, but no setting guarantees a particular player count or TPS for this pack.

The process exits immediately
- Run
java -versionfrom the launch account and confirm Java 17, not a different system default. - Check that the archive was extracted directly into the server directory and is not wrapped in an extra nested folder.
- Confirm that the startup command names the actual Fabric launcher JAR.
- Read the latest log for a missing dependency, invalid mod, Java error or wrong loader before changing files.
- Verify that you did not combine files from another DarkRPG release.
Players receive a mismatch or mod-list error
Compare Minecraft 1.19.3, DarkRPG 6.5.2, Fabric Loader and the complete mod list on both sides. Have the affected player create a clean CurseForge installation of the server’s exact release instead of repairing a heavily modified profile.
A dependency such as Fabric API is reported missing
Fabric notes that most mods require Fabric API. First inspect the selected DarkRPG server pack and its log: many packs already include the required dependency, while a particular pack version may specify a compatible version. Install only the dependency required by that pack version; do not blindly add a current release or copy dependencies from another Minecraft version.
Client-only visual or interface mods cause server errors
Do not copy shader, visual or interface-only mods into the server unless the official server distribution includes them. Conversely, do not remove files from the official server pack blindly. Compare the pack contents, read the launch log and make a backup before any deletion or replacement.
The server is reachable but performs poorly
- Check Java’s heap usage and the host’s total memory rather than assuming the 6–8 GB client recommendation applies to the server.
- Reduce view distance or other workload-heavy settings in
server.propertiesif the machine is memory- or CPU-constrained. - Watch the server log for repeated errors and identify which mod or operation coincides with pauses.
- Test with the same player count and activity that produces the problem; no published benchmark guarantees a particular TPS or capacity for this pack.
Backups and version changes
Back up the world before changing DarkRPG releases, Fabric Loader, configuration or Java. Include the world directory, mods, config, scripts and server.properties. Keep at least one copy outside the live server machine.
For an update, stop the server cleanly, record the current version, make the backup, obtain the new server pack, and compare its files with the existing installation. Test the new release on a copy of the world first when possible. Never overwrite a working 6.5.2 directory with files from 6.5.1 or another Minecraft version without a rollback plan.
