Use the dedicated ChromaTech2Server_1.2.1_all.zip archive, titled Chroma Technology 2 v-1.2.1 – ServerPack V2. Extract it to a writable folder, run LaunchServer.bat once, accept the Minecraft EULA in eula.txt, adjust server.properties if needed, and run the batch file again. The pack targets Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge; the author recommends allocating 8–10 GB of RAM.

What you need before starting
Chroma Technology 2 is a progression-focused modpack for Minecraft 1.16.5 running on Forge. A server made from the client download alone is not the correct installation. You need the separate dedicated server archive:

- Archive size: 361.90 MB
- Upload date: February 21, 2022
Players should install the matching client release, Chroma Technology 2-1.2.1, released for Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge on February 4, 2022. A technical mirror identifies the corresponding Forge build as 36.2.22. Treat that mirror mapping as a useful version reference and verify the Forge version shown by your actual server files before troubleshooting.
Hardware and operating-system planning
The project author’s published recommendation is 8–10 GB of RAM for the pack. This is a planning recommendation, not a separately measured minimum server requirement. Leave memory for the operating system and other services; do not assign every gigabyte on the machine to Java.
#1 Best Overall
- DELUXE COLLECTION — Includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, three Bedrock add-ons, three exclusive Character Creator items, and 700 Minecoins.
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.
- SURVIVE THE ADVENTURE — Face mysterious foes, travel across exciting landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play cross-platform with friends in Bedrock Edition on console, mobile, and PC, or join community servers in Java Edition on PC, Mac, and Linux. Online console multiplayer requires a platform-specific subscription (sold separately).
You also need an always-on computer or a managed Minecraft host, enough disk space for the extracted files and growing world, permission to write in the server directory, and a way for remote players to reach the machine. No universal Java patch level, firewall recipe, router procedure, or list of client-only mods is specified for this pack. Those items depend on your operating system, network, and the exact Forge installation, so validate them against current Forge and Minecraft documentation rather than copying a generic command from an unrelated version.
Download the correct server pack
- Open the Chroma Technology 2 project’s official file listing.
- Select Chroma Technology 2 v-1.2.1 – ServerPack V2, whose downloadable filename is
ChromaTech2Server_1.2.1_all.zip. - Save the ZIP locally and check that the download completed before extracting it. The release is 361.90 MB, so a substantially smaller file is a reason to download it again.
- Create a dedicated folder for this server, such as
ChromaTech2-Server-1.2.1, on a drive with sufficient free space. - Extract the entire archive into that folder. Do not run the batch file from inside the ZIP, and avoid a location where your account cannot create or modify files.
Keep the original ZIP as an offline copy. It gives you a known-good baseline if a later configuration change or mod update causes a startup failure.

First startup: create the EULA and server files
The official startup flow uses the Windows batch script included in the server pack.
- Open the extracted server folder.
- Double-click
LaunchServer.bat. If Windows displays a security prompt, allow the file only if you obtained the archive from the project’s official file listing and the extracted contents look intact. - Let the script run until it stops or reports that the EULA must be accepted. The first run creates files that were not present in the archive, including
eula.txt. - Close the server window if it remains open and open
eula.txtin a plain-text editor. - Read the Minecraft EULA. If you agree to it, change the setting from
eula=falsetoeula=true, save the file, and keep the filename exactlyeula.txt.
Changing the value is an acknowledgement, not a workaround. If you do not accept the EULA, leave it set to false and do not run a public server.

Configure server.properties before inviting players
Open server.properties in a text editor and change only the settings you understand. The pack instructions identify this file as the place to configure the server. Common decisions include:
- World: choose the world name or generation-related values you intend to use before players begin building.
- Difficulty: set the difficulty appropriate for your group.
- Whitelist: enable a whitelist when access should be limited to named players.
- Port: retain the configured port unless you have a reason to change it, and make sure your firewall and network forwarding match the value you choose.
- Other gameplay settings: review the remaining properties for rules such as player access and world behavior.
No universal port number, recommended view distance, player cap, or performance value is established for this pack. Do not assume that settings from another modpack or Minecraft version are optimal here. Save a backup of the original file before making edits, and use one setting change at a time when diagnosing a problem.

- Save and close
server.properties. - Run
LaunchServer.batagain from the server directory. - Wait for the Forge and mod loading process to finish. Keep the console visible during this first full startup so you can read an error instead of closing it immediately.
- When the console indicates that the server has finished loading, leave that window running. Closing it normally stops the server.
The initial launch can take longer than later launches because Forge and the mods create configuration files and generate the world. A successful window that remains open is not, by itself, proof that remote players can connect; local startup and network reachability are separate checks.
Make every client match the server
Modded multiplayer is sensitive to both the modpack release and the loader version. Give each player the same Chroma Technology 2-1.2.1 client release and a Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge installation that matches the server. The technical mirror maps this release to Forge 36.2.22, but the server’s installed Forge version is the authoritative value for your instance.

- COMMUNITY PLAY — Connect with players on community servers, or subscribe to Realms Plus (sold separately) to play with up to 10 friends on a private server.
- Do not mix a newer or older Chroma Technology 2 release with the 1.2.1 server.
- Do not launch the client with vanilla Minecraft or a different Forge profile.
- Compare the client and server mod lists if a connection fails; a missing, extra, or different-version mod can prevent the login handshake.
- Record the exact pack and Forge versions in your server notes so a returning player can reproduce the environment.
No complete list of client-only mods or separate client-mod installation procedure is published for this pack. Follow the pack’s client distribution and use the server console and client log to identify any mismatch rather than deleting mods at random.
Allocate memory without starving the host
Plan around the project’s 8–10 GB recommendation. The figure describes the pack author’s preferred allocation, not a guaranteed minimum and not a promise that every world or player count will perform identically.

- Measure the total RAM in the host first. A machine with exactly 8 GB cannot safely dedicate all of it to the server.
- Reserve memory for the operating system, file cache, remote administration, backups, and any other applications.
- Start within the recommended range, watch the server console and operating-system memory use, and adjust only when you have a specific symptom to address.
- Do not infer a player capacity from the RAM recommendation; no capacity benchmark is established for this pack.
The supplied server pack uses its own launcher script, so inspect the launch files before changing Java arguments. Preserve the existing command structure and change only the memory values you can identify confidently. If the script references a Java executable that is missing, install a Forge-compatible Java environment for this Minecraft generation and confirm the executable path using current Forge documentation for your operating system.
Let other players reach the server
Self-hosting requires more than a successful local launch. Players outside your home network must be able to reach the host through the port configured in server.properties. The exact firewall and router steps vary by operating system, router, internet provider, and whether you have a public address.

- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
- Find the server machine’s local network address and keep it stable, for example with a DHCP reservation.
- Allow the Java server process through the host firewall only on the network profiles you intend to use.
- If the server is behind a router, forward the configured Minecraft port to the server machine’s local address.
- Test from a different network, such as a mobile connection, rather than testing only from the same computer.
- Give players the reachable address and the port if it is not the default expected by their client.
No universal port-forwarding command or firewall rule is supplied for Chroma Technology 2. If your provider uses carrier-grade NAT, blocks inbound connections, or changes your public address, a conventional home-hosted server may not be reachable without an alternative network arrangement or managed hosting.
Backups and safe maintenance
Before changing versions, removing mods, or making major configuration edits, stop the server cleanly and copy the world directory plus the configuration files. Keep more than one backup generation and store at least one copy outside the live server folder.
What to record
- Chroma Technology 2 release: 1.2.1
- Server archive:
ChromaTech2Server_1.2.1_all.zip - Minecraft version: 1.16.5
- Forge version shown by the server installation (the release is commonly mapped to 36.2.22)
- Changes made to
server.propertiesand other configuration files - Date and location of each world backup
Do not replace the live world with a backup while the server is running. A backup made while files are being written can be incomplete; stop the process first, copy the files, and then restart with LaunchServer.bat.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
Self-hosting is appropriate when you control a suitable always-on computer and network. A managed host can remove much of the operating-system and router work, but you must confirm that it still supports this historical Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge pack and allows the files and memory allocation it needs. Current provider prices, regions, support policies, and uptime figures are not established here.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
| Factor | Self-hosted computer | Managed Minecraft host |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly cost | No hosting fee, but you pay for electricity, hardware, and internet service. | Price depends on the provider and selected resources; no current figure is established. |
| Setup effort | You extract the pack, configure the OS, secure the firewall, and handle network reachability. | The provider may supply a control panel and network setup, but you still need to upload or select the correct server pack. |
| File and backup control | Full access to the directory, scripts, world, and backup schedule. | Access depends on the plan and panel; verify that downloads and external backups are permitted. |
| Player capacity | Limited by your hardware, memory, upload bandwidth, and world load. | Limited by the purchased resources and the provider’s modpack support; no benchmark is established. |
| Support | You diagnose Forge, Java, mod, and network errors yourself. | Support scope varies; confirm that modded 1.16.5 Forge servers are covered. |
| Geographic latency | Usually best for players near your home connection. | Choose a region near most players if the provider offers regional locations. |
| Pack availability | You can install the dedicated archive directly. | Confirm current support for Chroma Technology 2 v1.2.1 before paying. |
Troubleshoot the common first-start failures
The window closes immediately
Run LaunchServer.bat from the extracted folder and watch the console instead of double-clicking and losing the message. Confirm that the archive was fully extracted, the folder is writable, and the required Java executable referenced by the script is available. Copy the final error text before changing files.

The server says the EULA has not been accepted
Open eula.txt in the same folder the script uses. Change only eula=false to eula=true after reading and accepting the EULA, save it as plain text, and run the batch file again. A second EULA file in another directory will not affect the instance you launched.
A player receives a mod or Forge mismatch error
Verify that the player is using Chroma Technology 2-1.2.1 on Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge and compare the Forge build with the server. Check for missing, extra, or differently versioned mods. Restore the known matching client profile instead of allowing a launcher to update one side independently.
The server starts, but nobody outside the host can connect
Check the address players are using, the port in server.properties, the host firewall, and the router forwarding destination. Test from another network. If the internet connection does not provide inbound reachability, contact the provider or use a managed service that supports the pack.
The world or settings changed unexpectedly
Stop the server, inspect which directory the batch file launches from, and verify the world-related entries in server.properties. Restore the most recent known-good backup before experimenting further. Keep one server folder per pack release to prevent a script from starting the wrong installation.

Final launch checklist
- The extracted folder contains the dedicated ServerPack V2 files and
LaunchServer.bat. - The server is running Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge, with the installed Forge build recorded.
- The first launch created
eula.txt; it now containseula=trueonly if you accepted the EULA. server.propertiescontains your intended world, difficulty, whitelist, and port settings.- The host has enough memory for the author’s 8–10 GB recommendation plus operating-system headroom.
- Every player has the matching Chroma Technology 2-1.2.1 client and Forge environment.
- The firewall, router, or managed-host network permits the configured connection.
- The world and configuration have a recoverable backup before players begin making progress.
