You can’t disable, remove, or hide App Library using an iOS 14 setting. It remains the screen after the last Home Screen page. You can make it less prominent by restoring your Home Screen pages, keeping new downloads on the Home Screen, and organizing apps there instead.
Can you turn off App Library in iOS 14?
No. iOS 14 has no Apple-supported switch to disable, remove, or hide App Library. Swipe left past the last Home Screen page to reach it. Apple explains how to use App Library and manage Home Screen pages, but does not document a control to turn the library off: Apple’s iPhone User Guide.

Hiding Home Screen pages does not hide App Library. It can bring the library closer to the pages you still use, so hiding pages is not a workaround for avoiding it.
Keep your Home Screen pages visible
If pages or app layouts seem to have vanished, check whether the pages were hidden. In iOS 14, restore them this way:
#1 Best Overall
- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
- Go to the Home Screen and touch and hold an empty area until the icons jiggle.
- Tap the row of page dots near the bottom of the screen.
- Tap each unchecked circle beneath a page you want to show.
- Tap Done on a Face ID iPhone, or press the Home button on a model with one.
The page returns with its existing layout. This restores your ordinary Home Screen pages; it does not remove App Library.
Send new downloads to the Home Screen
In iOS 14, open Settings > Home Screen. Under the setting for newly downloaded apps, select Add to Home Screen rather than App Library Only. The precise wording can vary by iOS version or build. This preference affects new downloads; it does not automatically move apps that are already in App Library. See Apple’s Home Screen and App Library guide for general information about where apps appear.

- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Move an existing app back to the Home Screen
Swipe left through your Home Screen pages to open App Library. Find the app, then touch and hold its individual icon and choose Add to Home Screen if that option appears. You can also search for the app in App Library and touch and hold the result. If the option is missing, make sure you are pressing an app icon rather than a category tile; the app may already be on a Home Screen page.
Apple documents removing an app from the Home Screen while keeping it in App Library, but its guide does not specify this exact return path for every iOS 14 build. If the menu differs on your iPhone, use Home Screen Search to locate the app and check the available options.

Remove one app from the Home Screen without deleting it
To take an app off the Home Screen but keep it installed, touch and hold its icon, tap Remove App, then choose Remove from Home Screen. The app remains in App Library and can still be found with iPhone Search. Apple distinguishes this from Delete App, which removes the app from the iPhone: Remove or delete apps from iPhone.
In iOS 14, removing an app from the Home Screen is not a privacy or security feature. It does not lock the app or prevent someone from finding it elsewhere on the iPhone.

Find an app that seems to have disappeared
Swipe down from the middle of the Home Screen and enter the app’s name in Search. If it appears, it may be on a hidden page or in App Library, or it may have been removed from the Home Screen without being deleted. If it does not appear, check whether it was deleted or whether restrictions apply. Apple’s troubleshooting guidance covers these possibilities: If you can’t find an app on your iPhone Home Screen.

For a traditional Home Screen
Keep the pages you use visible, place apps in regular Home Screen folders, and avoid swiping left beyond your final page. App Library will still be there, but you will be less likely to reach it accidentally.

For restricting app use
Screen Time may restrict app use in applicable cases, but it does not disable App Library. Apple’s guidance discusses Screen Time controls alongside app management: Remove or delete apps from iPhone.
For hiding an app with authentication
Apple’s current guide describes locking or hiding some apps in iOS 18 or later. That later feature does not apply to iOS 14 and does not turn off App Library; the Hidden folder is accessed through App Library: Apple Personal Safety User Guide: Lock or hide apps on your iPhone.
Why hiding pages can make App Library easier to reach
App Library sits after the final visible Home Screen page. If you hide pages, fewer pages remain to swipe through, so you may arrive at App Library sooner. Apple notes this effect in its guide to App Library and Home Screen pages. To keep it farther from everyday navigation, leave your regular pages visible.
Unsupported methods are not ordinary iOS 14 settings
Jailbreak tweaks have sometimes claimed to disable App Library, but they require unsupported system modification and may depend on the iPhone model, iOS build, and jailbreak. They are not an Apple-supported iOS 14 solution, so the steps above use standard iPhone controls instead.
