On Galaxy devices with the documented One UI 8 layout, go to Settings > Notifications > Hide content while locked and choose Hide when locked. You can also hide previews for selected apps while leaving other apps’ notification content visible.
Hide previews from every app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap Hide content while locked.
- Select Hide when locked.
Samsung’s One UI 8 guide describes this as a global choice between Show always and Hide when locked. The setting conceals notification details while the phone is locked; it does not, by itself, turn off app notifications. Samsung’s One UI 8 notification guide was last updated April 19, 2026.

Hide previews for selected apps only
Use the per-app controls if you want to conceal message previews from certain apps but continue showing content from others.

- Open Settings > Notifications > App notifications.
- Choose the app you want to change.
- Tap Show or hide content when locked.
- Select Hide when locked.
Repeat these steps for each app whose notification content you want to hide. This changes what appears on the locked screen, rather than disabling notifications from the app.

If those menu names do not appear
Samsung’s settings can vary by Galaxy model and software version. On some devices, Samsung’s lock-screen guidance instead points to Settings > Notifications > Lock screen, where you can choose a notification display type. Look in the installed Settings app under Notifications or Lock screen for the equivalent content or display control rather than assuming the feature is unavailable.
