Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Set block_cookie_banners=true in your ScreenshotOne request. For a particular banner the built-in blocker misses, add hide_selectors with that element’s CSS selector. The first option handles common consent overlays; the second gives you more precise control over a specific page element.
Use ScreenshotOne’s cookie-banner blocker
Include block_cookie_banners=true as a request parameter. ScreenshotOne documents this option as blocking cookie banners, GDPR overlay windows, and other privacy-related notices. Its documented default is false when you set the url option, so pass it explicitly rather than relying on a default.
For example, the request can take this form:
https://api.screenshotone.com/take?url=https://example.com&block_cookie_banners=true&access_key=YOUR_ACCESS_KEY
Replace the example page and access key with your target URL and ScreenshotOne key. This shows the request configuration; it is not a guarantee that every site’s banner will be detected or removed.
Hide a specific banner with a CSS selector
If the built-in blocker leaves a particular overlay visible, use ScreenshotOne’s hide_selectors option. Identify the banner’s selector in the page’s HTML or browser developer tools, then pass it in the request:
https://api.screenshotone.com/take?url=https://example.com&hide_selectors=.cookie-banner&access_key=YOUR_ACCESS_KEY
.cookie-banner is only an illustrative selector; it is not guaranteed to match any given site. ScreenshotOne says matching elements are hidden by setting their display style property to none !important. A selector that is too broad can hide legitimate page content, so inspect the result and use a selector specific to the consent element. The option can accept multiple selectors.
Choose between broad blocking and targeted hiding
| Approach | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
block_cookie_banners=true |
Common cookie-consent banners and privacy overlays | Less control over which individual page element is hidden |
hide_selectors |
A known banner that remains visible, or a specific element you want to hide | You must find a selector that matches the intended element without hiding other content |
block_banners_by_heuristics=true |
A possible fallback when the regular blocker does not work | ScreenshotOne cautions that this heuristic option may make the screenshot less precise |
Troubleshoot banners that remain visible
- The common blocker misses the overlay: try
hide_selectorswith the element’s actual selector. If that is not suitable, tryblock_banners_by_heuristics=true, keeping in mind its precision caveat. - Your selector hides too much—or nothing: verify that it matches the banner on the rendered page, and narrow it to the consent element rather than a shared container or generic selector.
- The banner appears in a full-page capture: full-page rendering can have corner cases, including content that loads only after scrolling, repeated sticky elements, and changing animations or galleries. Inspect the output and tune the capture’s delay or scrolling settings as needed.
- Capture performance is slower than expected: banner and ad blocking can add rendering work because the service listens for requests and uses techniques and heuristics to hide content. If you control the site or know the page has no banners, disable unneeded blockers.
Capture a full page without the consent overlay
ScreenshotOne’s full-page guide demonstrates combining block_cookie_banners=true with full-page capture options. Add the blocker to the full-page request just as you would for a regular capture, then inspect the result: full-page screenshots can behave differently when content depends on scrolling or when sticky elements and animations are present.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor before capture, then removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
