PagePeeker’s public V2 API documentation does not list a setting to hide cookie banners, select page elements, or inject CSS. Don’t add an undocumented parameter and expect it to work. If you need to keep the PagePeeker capture, ask PagePeeker whether it can provide a custom premium configuration; if you control the site and want to stop PagePeeker capturing it, use its documented robots.txt opt-out instead.
Does PagePeeker have a cookie-banner removal setting?
Not in its publicly documented API. PagePeeker labels V2 as its recommended API, and documents controls for the target URL, thumbnail size, optional account code, premium refresh, and waiting for a generated thumbnail. It does not list a cookie-banner switch, CSS injection, or element selector. See PagePeeker’s Website Thumbnails API.
Its premium screenshot customization page describes other options, including page dimensions and maximum captured height, compression, thumbnail sizes, overlay text, wait times, and Flash detection. It invites premium account holders to discuss specific needs, but does not promise banner removal. Ask PagePeeker directly before relying on a custom configuration: premium screenshot customization.
Avoid guessing parameter names such as hide_cookie_banner. An undocumented query parameter is not a supported way to remove an element and may simply be ignored.

What to do if you still need a PagePeeker screenshot
- Ask PagePeeker about a custom premium setup. Describe the site and explain that you need the consent banner absent from the captured image. Confirm what is supported before building a workflow around it; the published customization page does not specifically establish banner suppression.
- If you control the website, check whether a different capture workflow can hide the banner. Use a service or browser automation method whose documentation explicitly supports CSS or element selection. Hiding a banner visually is not the same as accepting or rejecting consent: do not treat a hidden overlay as a recorded visitor choice.
- If your actual goal is to prevent PagePeeker from capturing your site, use its robots.txt rule. This is an opt-out, not a way to get a clean thumbnail.
Prevent PagePeeker from capturing a site you own
PagePeeker says it attempts to fetch a site when a client requests a screenshot. Its documented robots.txt instruction is:
User-agent: PagePeeker
Disallow: /
Place the rule in the site’s robots.txt file only if you are authorized to manage that site and want to disallow PagePeeker’s robot from the entire site. It prevents the capture rather than removing the cookie banner from an image. A person requesting a screenshot of someone else’s website cannot apply this site-owner method. Details are on PagePeeker’s robot information page.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot with page elements removed rather than a PagePeeker thumbnail, ScreenshotNeo provides CSS and selector options. For example, request a screenshot and hide a banner by its CSS selector:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot"
-d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY
--data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com
--data-urlencode hide_selectors='.cookie-banner'
-o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the supported parameter names and options. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server offers screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

PagePeeker describes its Site Snapshot service as a representation of a site at the time it is captured, with premium snapshots available on demand or on a schedule. That describes when a snapshot can be taken; it does not establish a cookie-banner hiding feature. See PagePeeker Site Snapshot.
