It does not automatically remove every banner: a cookie notice built into the website itself may remain. For that, use Microlink’s page controls to hide the element with CSS, click a close or accept control, or run a script for custom behavior. On dynamic pages, wait for a selector that confirms the intended content or state is ready before capturing.
Choose the right way to handle the banner
Start by identifying whether the clutter comes from a third-party service or the website’s own interface. The difference matters: blocking a network request, hiding an element, and clicking a control do not have the same effect.
| Situation | Microlink option | Effect and caveat |
|---|---|---|
| A third-party consent service, ad, or tracker is cluttering the page | adblock |
Microlink documents adblock as on by default. It blocks matching requests before rendering; a first-party banner may remain. Microlink’s adblock parameter documentation. |
| A known first-party banner should not appear in the image | styles |
Inject CSS to hide the element visually. This does not accept consent or change the underlying behavior of the site. Check the selector against the live page. Microlink’s styles parameter documentation. |
| The page has a close, dismiss, or accept control that should be activated | click |
Click the relevant selector before capture. This changes page state, so use it only when that interaction matches the screenshot’s purpose. Microlink’s click parameter documentation. |
| A custom interaction is needed | scripts |
Run JavaScript in the page context before capture. Use it when a click or injected style cannot express the required action. Microlink’s scripts parameter documentation. |
| The page or post-dismissal content loads asynchronously | waitUntil and waitForSelector |
Wait for navigation readiness and then for an element that indicates the desired page state. Prefer a stable selector over an arbitrary delay when possible. Microlink’s wait parameter documentation. |
Hide a first-party banner with CSS
Use the styles option when the banner should simply be absent from the screenshot and you know its selector. For example, replace .cookie-banner with the selector used by the target page:
{
"url": "https://example.com",
"screenshot": true,
"styles": ".cookie-banner { display: none !important; }"
}
Send the JSON as the body of a request to Microlink’s API endpoint, following its current authentication and request format. The example shows the page-level option, not a guarantee that every site uses that selector. If the banner is inside an iframe or its selector changes between visits, the rule may not match; inspect the actual page and adjust accordingly.

Dismiss a banner by clicking its control
When the page exposes a suitable button, use click with the selector for the close, dismiss, or accept control. For example, the selector might be button.accept-cookies, but the actual selector must come from the target page:
{
"url": "https://example.com",
"screenshot": true,
"click": "button.accept-cookies"
}
A click can alter site state rather than merely hide pixels. Choose a dismissal control that is consistent with what the screenshot is meant to show; do not treat clicking “accept” as equivalent to CSS concealment.

Use a script only for custom behavior
Microlink documents scripts for running JavaScript in the page context. This is useful when the needed interaction cannot be represented by a selector click or a CSS rule, such as a site-specific sequence of actions. The exact script depends on the page, so there is no universal banner-removal script. Keep the action narrowly scoped and verify that it produces the intended page state before relying on the screenshot.
Wait for the intended page state
On a single-page app or another asynchronously rendered page, capture timing is a separate problem from banner handling. Combine an appropriate navigation lifecycle wait using waitUntil with waitForSelector for the content or state that should appear in the image. For example, wait for the page’s main content after dismissing a banner, rather than assuming navigation completion means all relevant content is ready. A fixed delay is available when necessary, but a selector tied to the expected state is more precise when a stable one exists.
When not to suppress the interface
If the screenshot is meant to document or audit the consent experience, leave the banner visible and avoid clicking its controls. Blocking third-party requests or hiding first-party UI can make the capture unsuitable for that purpose. Decide what the image needs to evidence before configuring the request.
Microlink screenshot API context
Microlink describes its screenshot service as a REST API that returns website captures, with image output and browser/page settings such as viewport and full-page capture. Its API overview listed a free tier of 25 requests per day when reviewed on October 3, 2026; that is a vendor-stated plan limit and may change. Check Microlink’s current API documentation for the active parameter names, request format, and quota before integrating.

ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-call API can return a screenshot or PDF, with cookie banners, pop-ups, and chat widgets removed before the shot; each of those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses indicate the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents screenshot tools.

Does Microlink remove every cookie banner automatically?
No. Its documented default adblock covers matching third-party requests; first-party page UI may need a separate page-level action.
Rank #3
Should I use CSS or click the banner button?
Use CSS when the goal is only to hide the element in the image. Use a click when the page should actually respond to its control.
