Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo go live from a computer webcam, first make sure your YouTube channel is eligible, then open YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live → Webcam. Set the stream details and privacy, check the camera and microphone, and select Go Live. You can test the setup with an unlisted stream before broadcasting publicly.
Check that your channel can live stream
Before scheduling a broadcast, confirm that your channel is verified and has had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. You must be at least 16 to live stream. If this is your channel’s first time enabling live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave eligibility checks until the day of the event. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

For streams featuring 13–15-year-olds who are not visibly accompanied by an adult, YouTube may restrict live chat and other features. That does not change the minimum age requirement for the person live streaming.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStart a webcam broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Sign in on a computer. Open YouTube and sign in to the channel that will host the broadcast.
- Open the webcam setup. Select Create → Go Live. In the left menu, choose Webcam. YouTube describes this as a way to stream from a computer without live-stream encoding software. The documented browser support is Chrome 60+ and Firefox 53+; browser requirements can change, so check YouTube’s current webcam-streaming instructions if compatibility is an issue.
- Enter the stream details. Add a title and description, then choose Public, Unlisted, or Private. You can also schedule the stream for later. YouTube documents Private as the default for creators aged 13–17 and Public for those 18 and older, but you can change the setting.
- Review the options. Use More options and Advanced settings to review the choices available for your stream. Select Next to continue.
- Check your devices and preview. Confirm that YouTube has selected the intended webcam and microphone. Check the preview and make sure the picture and sound are right before proceeding.
- Go live. When the details and device selections are correct, select Go Live.
Choose privacy and test the setup
A Public stream can be seen by anyone; an Unlisted stream is accessible to people with its link; and a Private stream is restricted to the audience you choose through YouTube’s privacy controls. For a first run, an unlisted test lets you check the stream without making it a public broadcast. YouTube recommends trying a test stream and notes that expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. Its live-streaming tips offer further preparation guidance.

Share your screen while using the webcam workflow
You can share a screen, window, or browser tab through Live Control Room while using webcam streaming, but a webcam and microphone must be connected. A supported browser tab shares its audio by default. Check what is visible in the shared area before starting, especially if you are sharing your entire screen rather than one window or tab. Details are in YouTube’s screen-sharing instructions.
When to use an encoder instead
The webcam path is suited to a straightforward computer-camera broadcast. Consider encoder streaming if your production needs gameplay capture, overlays, multiple cameras, or external audio and video equipment such as preamps, microphones, or cameras. Those productions need a different setup; see YouTube’s encoder-streaming guidance.

End the broadcast and find its archive
When you are finished, select End stream in Live Control Room. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and available from the channel’s Live tab. Longer streams may not be archived, so do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive for a broadcast that reaches or exceeds 12 hours. See YouTube’s guidance on managing live streams.
Troubleshoot common webcam-streaming problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, whether the channel has had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the age requirement. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The webcam option or preview is unavailable: Confirm that you are on a computer, using a supported browser, and that the browser can access the webcam. If the listed browser minimums do not resolve the issue, consult YouTube’s current webcam instructions.
- The wrong camera or microphone is selected: Return to the device selections before going live and choose the intended inputs. Make a test stream if you need to verify the result.
- Viewers cannot access the stream: Recheck whether you selected Public, Unlisted, or Private. Unlisted viewers need the link; Private streams are limited through YouTube’s privacy controls.
- Screen-share audio is missing: If you are sharing a browser tab, confirm that it is a supported tab and that its audio is enabled. YouTube says supported browser-tab sharing includes audio by default.
Or let it run in the cloud
The webcam workflow is for going live from a camera; StreamNeo is for keeping uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo then loops the video from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on.
