Then choose a venue whose current rules allow the giveaway, keep the key out of public view, send it privately if permitted, and close the post once it is claimed or expired.
Check each key before offering it
There is no universal expiration period for game keys, and the available information does not establish that every key is transferable or valid in every region. A bundle may contain codes with different deadlines, so check each one separately rather than assuming all keys share an expiry date.

- Find the issuer’s current redemption page and terms for the code’s storefront.
- Use the official redemption flow to check whether the code is still redeemable and whether it displays a deadline. Do not complete redemption if you intend to give the code away.
- Record the exact deadline and any stated platform, region, or other restrictions. If the issuer does not show a date, do not promise a specific expiry or validity period.
An older GOG community thread recommends checking a code through the gift redemption box and notes that gift codes can have different expiration dates. Treat that as community guidance, not a current universal instruction; follow the issuer’s present-day page and terms where available.
Choose a giveaway venue and follow its rules
Giveaway requirements belong to the venue, not to all game platforms or key issuers. Read the rules immediately before posting, since community rules can change and may restrict both what can be offered and how a winner is chosen.

For example, the retrieved r/steam_giveaway rules require an offer to be a Steam key or gift. They prohibit plaintext keys, giving away Steam accounts, and asking for upvotes; they also set conditions around entries and private-message entries. Those rules apply to that community, not to other forums or storefronts. Check its current wording and eligibility requirements before using it.
Write a clear, safe giveaway post
Tell readers what they would receive without revealing the redeemable code. Include the game, storefront or platform, known region or other restrictions, and the verified deadline. Avoid promising that the key will work everywhere or that it is transferable unless the issuer’s terms support that claim.

- Keep the code out of the post, comments, screenshots, and other public places. The subreddit rules prohibit plaintext codes, and the GOG forum discussion also cautions against posting codes publicly because scammers or bots may claim them.
- Explain how a recipient will be selected and when you expect to send the code.
- Use private delivery only when the venue’s rules allow it. Follow any venue-specific entry limits and eligibility conditions.
- Do not describe an unchecked or uncertain deadline as verified.
Send the code and close the post
Once you have selected a recipient in the manner your venue permits, send the code privately if allowed. Ask the recipient to redeem it promptly, especially when the deadline is near. When it is claimed—or when its deadline passes—update or close the giveaway so others do not mistake the offer for an available key. Some communities use OPEN and CLOSED flairs; confirm the venue’s current instructions for marking a post complete.
