Who can get Canva Education
Canva Education is free for eligible active K–12 educators and qualifying institutions, and Canva says the program is available worldwide. Eligible roles include:

- Certified teachers working at formally accredited primary or secondary schools.
- Certified school librarians.
- Learning support assistants or teachers, and curriculum specialists.
- Certified teachers at technical or vocational schools serving primary- or secondary-level students.
- Government-recognized, formally accredited K–12 schools, school districts, departments of education, and other qualifying school systems.
Canva lists higher-education institutions and staff, college and university students, adult or continuing-education institutions, public librarians, private or online tutors, volunteer tutors, and non-teaching nonprofits among those who do not qualify. Other listed exclusions include people who are no longer actively teaching, preschool or daycare assistants, unlicensed or institutionally unaffiliated homeschool educators, extracurricular organizations, early-stage education startups, and parents applying on behalf of children. Canva directs higher-education users to Canva for Campus and has a separate program for qualifying nonprofits. See Canva’s eligibility guidelines for the current criteria.

- Open Canva’s Education signup page. If you already have a Canva account, sign in and start the Education verification flow; Canva says your existing designs transfer when you upgrade.
- Use a recognized educational email domain, or sign in with your school or district’s Clever, Microsoft, or Google account if that option is available to you.
- Follow the prompts, select Teacher, choose your school type, and enter your name, country, school name, address, and school website.
- If Canva recognizes your school email domain, it may grant access immediately. If it does not, follow the prompt to upload a photo or scan of supporting documentation. Canva’s Help Center says the evidence should show your name, school name, and teaching position.
- If you skipped document submission during signup, Canva says you can submit the documents afterward through the submission route linked from its Canva Education Help Center page.
Which verification route should you use?

Choose the route your institution supports. If automatic recognition does not work, be ready to establish both that you currently hold an eligible role and that your school or organization qualifies. Accepted evidence can vary by location.

What documents should you prepare?
Canva asks for official proof of current teaching status. Depending on your location and application, examples include:
- A current teaching license or certification.
- Evidence of current employment at the school, if requested.
- A school ID that indicates your teaching status.
- For an institution applying, documentation that it is government-recognized and formally accredited as a K–12 school.
Canva specifically says teachers in Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Korea, and Europe need only provide a copy of their teaching license. Follow the requirements shown for your application and location; having one example document does not by itself establish eligibility if your role or institution does not qualify.

Can students or existing Canva users apply?
K–12 students do not apply through the teacher verification process as independent applicants. A teacher must invite them to join. College and university students are not currently eligible for Canva Education.

How long does verification take, and how long does access last?
Canva says applicants using a verified educational email domain may receive access right away. For document applications, Canva’s eligibility guidelines state a review period of 48 hours; the Help Center explains the submission process but does not promise a decision by a specific time. Treat the 48-hour figure as Canva’s estimate, not a guarantee.
Access lasts while you or your organization remains active and eligible. Canva prompts Education users to re-verify their credentials every three years. Check the eligibility guidelines for current rules, since program requirements can change.
