Reaching the zone is separate from completing its Resonant mission: for that, first finish Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault to unlock Shift, then use Shift to cross the anomalous surfaces on the route to the theater.
How to reach the West Incursion Zone
- Start at the FBC Field Office and leave through its west exit.
- Follow the signs toward the West Incursion Zone. The walkthrough route passes a plaza and a traffic-jam or barrier area, then continues through lifts and connected rooms into the zone.
These directions come from a third-party walkthrough; the exact point at which the route becomes available depends on your story progress. You do not need Shift simply to enter the zone.

How to reach the Resonant mission and theater
Unlock Shift first
To reach the zone’s Resonant, complete Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault. The walkthrough says this quest unlocks Shift, which is required for the mission route.
Use Shift across the distorted route
Continue toward the theater by using Shift on anomalous surfaces. The walkthrough describes crossing a gap, traversing a ceiling and wall, reaching the Empire sign, and then going through a subway tunnel. Follow the in-game objective and look for usable surfaces when ordinary street-level navigation no longer works.

The listed objectives are to investigate the theater and defeat the Resonant there. The walkthrough says the mission completes after the boss encounter and the finishing prompt.
Reveal the West Incursion Zone map
Revealing the local map is an optional task after reaching the area, not a requirement for entering it or starting the route. According to AllThingsHow’s September 26, 2026 guide, the map stays blank until you activate the FBC Map Kit:
- Activate the three satellite relays around the central courtyard tower.
- Interact with the console at the tower’s base.
A map-unlocked notification confirms completion. The guide also identifies the Theater Vista door as a nearby fast-travel point.

What to expect in the zone
The West Incursion Zone is an explorable area in CONTROL Resonant, not a real-world destination. Remedy Entertainment Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov describes Dylan hunting a Resonant there, in a place reshaped by otherworldly forces. The official PlayStation Blog overview characterizes the zone as one where architecture folds in on itself and gravity behaves unpredictably. Remedy presents the game as a set of distinct, expansive zones rather than a single open world.
