To get an embed code, open the presentation in Google Slides on a computer and select File > Share > Publish to web. Choose the Embed tab, set the presentation size and slide timing, click Publish and confirm, then copy the HTML into your website or blog’s embed or code area. Publishing is an access decision, so check who will be able to view the presentation and remove sensitive information first.
Get the embed code in Google Slides
- Open the presentation in Google Slides on a computer.
- Choose File > Share > Publish to web.
- In the publishing dialog, select Embed.
- Choose a presentation size and set how quickly slides advance. If the presentation should move through slides automatically, set the timing accordingly.
- Click Publish, then confirm when prompted.
- Copy the HTML shown in the text box and paste it into the website or blog’s embed or code area.
The website where you paste the code determines how HTML can be added and how the embedded frame is positioned or sized. If you cannot find a suitable code area, check that site’s instructions for adding HTML or embedded content.

What the embed code does—and how it differs from a sharing link
The HTML comes from Publish to web > Embed, not from the ordinary editor-sharing link. It displays a view-only published version; it does not give site visitors editing access to the original presentation. If you need visitors to view the deck on your site, use the embed option rather than copying the link you use to edit or share the file.

Publication visibility depends on the account and sharing settings. A published presentation may be available publicly, to people in an organization, or to a restricted group. Google Docs Editors Help warns: “Be careful when publishing private or sensitive info.” Review the presentation and its audience before clicking Publish.

For a work or school account, an administrator may disable publishing or limit who can access published files. Shared-drive settings can also affect access for people who are not members. If publishing is unavailable or the intended audience cannot view the result, ask your administrator about the organization’s settings.
Choose size, timing, and audience
- Size: Set the presentation dimensions in the Embed tab. The website may also control the frame’s displayed size or position.
- Slide timing: Choose how quickly slides advance; enable automatic advancement if that is the behavior you want for the published presentation.
- Audience: Check the account’s publication and sharing settings, especially if viewers are outside your organization or the presentation includes material that should not be public.
Update or stop publishing
Changes to the source presentation are reflected in its published version, although they may take a few minutes to appear. Google does not document a setting to turn off those automatic updates. To remove the published version, return to File > Share > Publish to web > Published content & settings and select Stop publishing.

Embed a published presentation in Google Sites
For a Google Site, publish the Slides file first, then insert the published file or its link into the site. Visitors who do not have permission to view a restricted file may not be able to see it, so check access for the people who will visit the site.
