Turn on comment alerts in the notification settings of the service where you posted. The exact control and delivery options differ by platform: notifications may arrive in-app, as push alerts, by email, or by SMS. Also check which comments the setting covers—some services do not alert you about every reply in a thread.
Start with the platform’s notification settings
Open the account or site settings for the service where the post lives, find its notification controls, and enable the comment-related category. If the service offers delivery choices, check those too. An enabled category cannot reach you through a channel you have turned off or cannot receive.

- Open Settings & Privacy → Notifications.
- Find Posting and commenting, then open Comments and reactions.
- Enable the notification options and delivery methods you want.
If alerts still do not arrive, LinkedIn advises resetting Comments and reactions and the related delivery options. For push delivery, make sure in-app notifications are on as well. LinkedIn says notifications should start appearing within 48–72 hours after completing that reset; this is LinkedIn’s troubleshooting guidance, not a general delivery guarantee. On reddit.com, open Settings → Notifications and enable the comment notification type you want. In the app, use the account’s notification controls; labels may differ. Reddit’s help article explains that this alert covers someone commenting directly on your post—a “parent comment”—but not someone replying to another person’s comment. - In the site dashboard, open Settings → Discussion.
- Under Email me whenever, enable Anyone posts a comment.
- Optionally enable email for a comment held for moderation if you want to know when a comment is awaiting approval.
Alerts go to the account email address. WordPress.com Support describes the control as an option to receive an email when “Anyone posts a comment.” See WordPress.com’s comment notification instructions.

Instagram’s notification settings include alerts for interactions with your content, including comments. The general location is Settings → Notifications → Push notifications; current labels and options may differ by app language, account, or version. Check the app’s live settings for the comment-related option. See Instagram Help Centre.
What to check when alerts do not arrive
- Confirm the category is enabled in the service. Device notification permission alone does not switch on a comment-alert category that is disabled in the app or website.
- Check delivery settings. Confirm the channel—push, in-app, SMS, or email—is enabled and that the account or device can receive it.
- Check whether the event qualifies. Reddit’s post-comment alert, for example, does not cover replies to another person’s comment.
- Use the service’s troubleshooting steps. For LinkedIn, reset the Comments and reactions category and related delivery options, and keep in-app notifications enabled for push. LinkedIn gives a 48–72-hour expectation after that reset.
These controls do not establish that every comment will trigger an instant alert. The documented settings explain which events and channels a platform supports; they are not universal delivery guarantees.
