The heavy-corvette and repair-frigate tactic is strategy advice, not a guaranteed best fleet.
Which Homeworld version and mode are you using?
“Unlimited money” in these guides means increasing RUs, the game’s resource units. The right approach depends on the edition and whether you want to change a new campaign, an existing campaign save, or a custom multiplayer match. Do not treat the original game’s script edit and the Remastered save edit as interchangeable.

- Remastered on Windows: A trainer vendor lists an unlimited-resources option, subject to support for the installed game version.

How to increase starting RUs in the original game
The legacy Cheatbook guide says to edit the original game’s singleplayer.script file. This is old community guidance, not a verified procedure for Remastered or modern builds.

- Locate and open
singleplayer.scriptin a text editor. - Find
SINGLEPLAYER_STARTINGRUS, shown in the guide with a default value of750. - Replace the value with four to eight nines, as the guide suggests, then save the file.
- Start a new game for the change to take effect. The guide says it does not apply to an existing save.
The guide warns that an excessively large value can become negative in the game. It does not establish a safe maximum, so do not assume that more digits will produce more usable RUs. Cheatbook’s Homeworld guide
How Remastered’s campaign-save edit differs
GameRevolution’s April 23, 2015 guide describes editing the RUs value near the bottom of a campaign persist file, after completing at least the first mission. That is a save-file method for Remastered, not the original game’s starting-resource script edit. Because that guide dates to 2015 and current compatibility is not established, treat the instructions as edition-specific historical guidance rather than a guarantee for every Remastered build. Make a backup of a save before changing it; the cited guide does not establish compatibility with every platform or current release.

The original Homeworld manual describes custom multiplayer options for starting resources, periodic RU injections, and a one-time lump sum. These are match settings, not campaign cheats or edits to a saved campaign.

- Set the amount of starting resources for the match.
- Configure periodic resource injections or a one-time lump sum.
- Harvesting can be disabled, but the manual warns that resources will run out quickly unless another RU supply is configured.

Remastered trainer: listed features and limits
WeMod lists a Windows trainer for Homeworld Remastered Collection with God Mode, Unlimited Resources, One-Hit Kills, Instant Build, and Instant Research. The vendor says its app checks whether the installed game version is supported and offers users the option to try or request updates when it is not. A heavy-corvette fleet with repair support
A legacy guide recommends heavy corvettes supported by repair frigates. Its suggested counts vary: one passage gives 36 or 49 heavy corvettes with 4 or 9 support frigates, while its rule of thumb is roughly the square root of the corvette count—36 corvettes with 6 frigates, or 49 with 7. Treat the ratio as a rough heuristic, not tested matchup data or a universal optimum.

- Select the support frigates, hold the special-function key
z, and select the corvettes to link the support ships. - Set the corvettes to aggressive and hunt, according to the guide.
- Against grouped strike craft, the guide recommends an initial burst round before issuing normal attack orders.
- Move the corvettes in short steps so slower frigates can keep up and stay within repair range.
The trade-off is between the number of attacking corvettes and the repair coverage and slower movement of the support frigates. The guide says heavy corvettes can destroy strike craft rapidly, but it does not provide controlled comparisons or establish how the fleet performs in every matchup. Cheatbook’s Homeworld guide
