You can use a SNAP EBT card to qualify for Amazon’s discounted Prime Access membership, but you cannot use SNAP benefits to pay the membership fee. Amazon’s guide, updated August 6, 2026, lists the price as $6.99 per month and says eligible new Prime members may get a 30-day free trial. You must verify eligibility and provide payment and billing information to enroll.
What Amazon Prime Access includes—and what EBT does
Amazon calls its discounted membership Prime Access. SNAP EBT is one way to demonstrate eligibility; the card does not itself provide Prime membership. Amazon also accepts verification through other assistance programs or an income-verification option.

How to sign up for Prime Access with SNAP EBT

Go to Amazon’s Prime Access signup page.

Choose verification through a qualifying assistance program. SNAP is among the programs Amazon lists. Follow the prompts to upload a document confirming your participation or eligibility; alternatively, choose the separate income-verification route if appropriate.

Enter the requested payment and billing information. This payment method is for the membership charge; Amazon’s guidance does not say that SNAP benefits can pay for Prime Access.

Review the trial and billing terms on the signup page. If the 30-day trial applies to you, note when the recurring monthly charge will begin.

Reverify eligibility when required to keep the discounted membership. Amazon says Prime Access members must reverify every 12 months and will receive an email reminder. You can cancel through your membership preferences.

Amazon also offers income verification as a separate route, so SNAP is not the only way to qualify. Check the current application page for its accepted documents and verification instructions.

No. Amazon says, “A Prime membership is not required to shop using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT benefits in Amazon stores.” You can use SNAP EBT on eligible grocery items without joining Prime. Amazon lists Amazon.com and, where available, Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market as shopping options. Availability and item eligibility can vary by state; check the current eligibility information and the SNAP EBT label on each item.

Open Amazon’s SNAP EBT page and add your EBT card to your account.

This grocery-payment process is separate from applying for Prime Access. Amazon says product eligibility may vary by state under state-specific rules beginning January 1, 2026, so confirm eligibility on the item and Amazon’s current EBT information before ordering.
