How to Get and Use the Camera in ARC Raiders (October 2026)

Get the ARC Raiders Camera from loot, Shani, Celeste's quest, or a Workbench craft, then use the Q wheel and mouse to take photos.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Camera in ARC Raiders is an in-game gadget. You can get one from loot, buy one from the vendor Shani, receive one from Celeste’s “Sizing Things Up” quest, or craft a Basic model at a Workbench. Using it takes three inputs: the Camera in a Quick Use slot, the Q gadget wheel to equip it, and the mouse to aim and shoot. Quest photo objectives only count when you take the photo with this item, so it is worth having one before you start the quest.

Guides reporting on the Camera were published on October 8, 2026, shortly after the gadget was introduced with the Frozen Trail update. Prices, vendor stock, and controls can change, so treat the specific numbers below as the reported values at that date.

Ways to get a Camera

There are two item versions, Basic and Advanced, and four routes to obtain one. The routes differ mainly in cost and effort. The table below uses the figures reported by each guide; where a guide gave no figure, the cell says so.

Crafting the Basic Camera

The Basic Camera is the only version reported as craftable. At the Workbench, you need one Wire and eight Plastic Parts. According to Destructoid, Wire comes from Electrical areas or from salvaging some materials and ARC tech, and Plastic Parts show up across many loot types. Crafting is the most predictable route if you do not want to spend coins.

Buying from Shani

Beebom reports that Shani sells the Basic Camera for 1.9K coins and the Advanced Camera for 3K coins. Those are the only prices reported in the sources reviewed for this guide, so check the current vendor listing in-game before you plan around them.

Getting one from Celeste’s quest

The Celeste quest “Sizing Things Up” supplies a camera as part of its progression. Details are in the quest section below. Because the quest hands you a camera, it is the cheapest route if you are already working through it.

Taking one from another Raider

Beebom also reports that you can obtain a camera by killing a Raider who is carrying one. This is a PvP route rather than a dependable source, since there is no reported way to know in advance which Raiders carry one.

How to use the Camera

The Camera is a gadget, so it works through the same Quick Use and gadget-wheel system as your other equipment. Use these steps:

  1. Make sure the Camera is in your backpack, then move it into a Quick Use slot.
  2. Hold Q to open the gadget wheel and select the Camera.
  3. Hold right mouse button (RMB) to aim and frame the shot. Destructoid reports zoom controls on the Basic Camera.
  4. Press left mouse button (LMB) to take the picture.
  5. For a selfie, press R. Beebom reports this, but does not say which Camera versions it applies to.

The Camera is an in-game item. No real-world camera, controller, or subscription is involved in getting or using it.

Which version to pick

For a quest photo or ordinary snapshots, the Basic Camera is enough. The Advanced Camera is worth buying only if you want the additional settings Beebom describes, and only after you read the item’s in-game description to confirm what it adds. The sources disagree on one point. Destructoid reports zoom on the Basic Camera, while Beebom lists zoom among the settings exclusive to the Advanced version. Confirm this in the item description before you spend 3K coins on it.

The “Sizing Things Up” quest

“Sizing Things Up” is given by Celeste. According to the community quest wiki, its tasks are:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Take a photo of the Emperor’s leg by the bridge outside Old Town.
  • Optional: photograph the crashed probe near Almatera Station.
  • Analyze the exposed area on top of the Emperor’s leg near Railroad Junction.

You need to complete two of the three tasks. The wiki is community-maintained and may change, so check the exact objective wording in your game log before you rely on it. Guides also state that quest photo objectives require you to take the photo with the Camera item; a photo taken any other way will not count.

Keep your Camera from being lost

Destructoid reports that the Camera is lost if it is in your backpack when you die. This is a single-guide claim, but it is the most useful risk to plan around. If you are heading into a quest photo, consider carrying a spare Camera (a Basic one is the cheaper option), or use the camera supplied by the quest as your working copy and keep a backup in the stash.

Troubleshooting

  • The Camera does not appear on the Q wheel: It must be placed in a Quick Use slot first. Move it from the backpack into a slot, then open the wheel again.
  • The quest photo does not register: Check that you are using the Camera item itself, not a screenshot or any other capture method, and that you are standing where the objective describes.
  • Shani’s price differs from the one above: Vendor prices change over time. The figures here are the ones reported on October 8, 2026, and the live listing takes precedence.

,

Aim and shot controls are the same regardless of version, as far as the sources report. If a control does not respond, check your in-game key bindings, since guides do not list every platform’s controls.
