Facebook does not document a universal setting that alerts you to every ordinary post by any person or every post in a group. You can choose notification delivery options for supported events, follow a profile or Page to see its public updates, and configure alerts for a Page’s live videos. These are different controls, so choose the one that matches what you want to hear about.
Get Facebook notifications by text message
Facebook’s SMS settings let you choose which supported notification types can arrive as texts. One example in Facebook Help Center is a comment on your own status update or post; this is not an alert for every post made by someone you follow.

- Open Facebook and select your profile picture.
- Go to Settings & privacy > Settings > Notifications.
- Expand a notification type and turn on SMS if that option is available for the event.
Facebook also says you can restrict texts during certain hours or limit how many you receive through Mobile settings. Menu names and available options may vary by device or interface version. See Facebook’s SMS notification guidance and check the current settings in your account.

Follow a profile or Page to see its public updates
Following a profile or Page is Facebook’s documented way to see public updates from people or Pages you are interested in. It does not, by itself, guarantee a push or text alert for every ordinary post. For the latest available controls, follow the profile or Page and review its notification options in Facebook.

Facebook describes following as a way to see public updates in its Follow help page. The guidance reviewed does not establish that every post will trigger a separate alert.
Turn on notifications for a Page’s live videos
If your goal is to know when a particular Page starts a live broadcast, Facebook documents a specific live-video notification setting:

- Open the Page and select Following.
- Open Options below the cover photo.
- Choose Live video.
- Select All notifications, Highlights, or Off.
For a person or Page whose live video or replay you are viewing, Facebook also describes selecting Follow and then Notifications to receive notice the next time that person or Page starts a live broadcast. These instructions concern live broadcasts, not all regular posts. See Facebook Help Center’s live-video notification guidance.
What about push notifications and group posts?
Facebook’s notification settings include choices beyond SMS, but the sources cited here do not give a complete set of current steps or promise an alert for every post from a profile, Page, or group. The group guidance reviewed concerns joining and membership rather than post-alert controls. Check the notification options shown for the specific account, Page, or group in your version of Facebook, and do not assume that a setting labeled “All” covers every event unless Facebook says so.

Facebook’s Page settings index points to separate Page-notification guidance, but does not itself specify the alert types or exact steps. The available group help explains joining and membership, not whether every new group post can generate an alert.
