Install the VPN app, sign in, select Slovenia in its location list, and connect. Location availability and plan access can change, so check the provider’s current server list and plan before subscribing.
How to get a Slovenian IP address
- Choose a VPN with a Slovenia exit location. Provider pages reviewed list Slovenia for Proton VPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), and Windscribe; these are provider claims, not independent rankings or hands-on test results. Check that Slovenia is available on the plan you intend to use.
- Install the provider’s app and sign in. Proton lists apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and Android TV. PIA provides mobile setup instructions for iOS and Android.
- Select Slovenia and connect. Open the app’s location list, choose Slovenia, and start the connection. PIA identifies Ljubljana as its Slovenia location; Windscribe also lists a Ljubljana server.
- Verify the result. Visit an IP-check page and confirm that it reports a Slovenian public IP. The VPN app showing “connected” alone does not verify what a particular website sees.
A VPN routes traffic through the selected server, so a destination generally sees the VPN’s exit IP rather than your usual public IP. PIA says its VPN also encrypts traffic between the user and the VPN service. PIA’s Slovenia VPN page

Which providers list Slovenia?
| Provider | What its page says | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN | Lists Slovenia servers and says access to them requires a paid plan, not its Free plan. It lists apps for several desktop and mobile platforms. Proton VPN’s Slovenia page | Current plan tier, location availability, renewal price, privacy policy, and independent audit evidence. |
| Private Internet Access (PIA) | Lists Slovenia and says its Slovenia IP is from Ljubljana. The page says a dedicated IP is not currently available in Slovenia. PIA’s Slovenia VPN page | Current location status, terms for your intended use, renewal price, and whether a shared IP suits your needs. |
| Windscribe | Lists a Ljubljana VPN server and describes local browsing, services, and testing as use cases. Windscribe’s Slovenia page | Current location status, plan availability, renewal price, and evidence supporting privacy claims. |
Compare providers on the factors that affect your use: an active Slovenia location, support for your device, privacy policy and credible independent audit evidence, full price and renewal terms, refund conditions, and whether the available IP type is suitable. The listed pages do not establish which provider is fastest or most reliable; no hands-on speed, leak, streaming, or reliability tests are available here.
Can you get a Slovenian IP with a free VPN?
Free access depends on the provider and location. Proton VPN’s Slovenia page says Slovenian servers require a paid plan, even though the provider lists free locations in other countries. Do not assume that a provider’s free tier includes Slovenia; check its current location and plan details before relying on it. Proton VPN’s Slovenia page

Will a Slovenian IP make every site treat you as local?
No. A Slovenian exit IP can make your network connection appear to come from Slovenia, but it does not establish physical presence, change account eligibility, or guarantee access to a streaming catalog, bank, government portal, or workplace system. Third-party services may block VPN exits or apply their own account, location, and access rules. Provider pages promote some of these uses, but they do not independently verify or guarantee acceptance.
PIA’s support guidance dated July 16, 2026, advises users to follow both streaming-platform and provider terms and to connect to a server in the country where they are currently located. That is PIA’s guidance, not a universal statement of every service’s policy. PIA’s streaming guidance

What to try if a site still detects your usual location
- Reconnect to the Slovenia location, or try another Slovenia endpoint if the provider offers one.
- Check the browser’s location permission. A site may use browser-provided location information in addition to the network IP.
- Review the site’s account region and any saved cookies; a VPN does not change those settings.
- Check the service’s own rules and support guidance. A Slovenian IP alone cannot override its eligibility or access requirements.
VPN versus browser proxy
A browser proxy may change the IP a website sees for traffic from that browser, but it is not the same as routing all device traffic through a VPN. PIA warns that proxies may offer weaker encryption and may cover only browser traffic. This is provider guidance, not an independent comparison of proxy services. PIA’s Slovenia VPN page
Privacy and legal limits
A VPN changes the network route and the public IP presented to destinations; it does not make you anonymous. Sites may still recognize you through an account sign-in, cookies, device or browser signals, or other data.
