Proton VPN documents this option, but only on its paid plans. A .ps domain name does not do the job: it identifies a website, not the public IP address your connection shows.
Decide which goal you actually have
“Palestinian IP address” can mean two different things, and each needs a different method.

| Goal | What it means in practice | What the available evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| Make websites and online services see a Palestinian location | Your public IP address appears to originate in the Palestinian Territories | A VPN connection through a Palestinian Territories server, as documented by Proton VPN |
| Get local internet service while physically in Palestine | You need a working connection on the ground | Not established. Roaming SIM, eSIM, satellite, and local Wi-Fi are not shown to produce a Palestinian VPN exit address |
The rest of this guide covers the first goal.
How a VPN changes the location websites see
A website sees the IP address of the connection that reaches it. When you use a VPN, your traffic leaves through the VPN provider’s server, so the site sees that server’s address and the location associated with it. Proton VPN describes its service this way: “With a paid Proton VPN plan, you can change your IP address to make it appear to websites and online services as though you are accessing the internet from the Palestinian Territories by connecting to any of our Palestinian Territories servers.”
That statement comes from the provider. It is vendor documentation, not an independent test, and it does not guarantee how any particular website will classify your location.

Steps with Proton VPN
- Choose a paid plan. Proton’s documentation says free users can use international servers, but a free Palestinian Territories server is not offered. Check the current plan details on Proton’s site before you subscribe, because plan rules and server lists can change.
- Install the app on a supported platform. Proton lists macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux, and Chromebook.
- Sign in and open the location list in the app.
- Select “Palestinian Territories” or “Palestine” and connect. Wait until the app shows that the connection is active and lists the Palestinian location before opening any site.
- Check the result. Visit an IP lookup tool and confirm the reported location. Expect some variation: geolocation databases do not always agree with one another.
Why a .ps domain does not give you a Palestinian IP address
A domain name and an IP address are separate things. “.ps” is the country-code suffix for Palestinian domain registrations, but the Palestinian network information authority, PNINA, explains in its FAQ that a website hosted by a Palestinian company may still use an address block registered under an Israeli country code. Country filtering can depend on that registered IP block rather than on the domain suffix.
In practical terms, registering a .ps domain does not create a Palestinian public IP address for your device, and a .ps site does not prove where your own connection appears to be.

Connectivity options are not the same as a VPN exit location
Getting online in Palestine and making your traffic appear to come from Palestine are separate problems. A roaming SIM, an eSIM, a satellite link, or local Wi-Fi may give you a connection where service exists, but the available sources do not establish that any of these gives you a Palestinian VPN exit address.

- cost
- device compatibility
- infrastructure limits
- regulatory constraints
Those conditions may have changed since the report was published, so treat them as background rather than a current service map.
If a site still refuses access
- Confirm the connection. Make sure the app shows an active connection to a Palestinian Territories server, not a nearby country.
- Try another lookup tool. Different geolocation databases can report different locations for the same address.
- Try another server if one is listed. Proton’s documentation refers to “any of our Palestinian Territories servers,” so reconnecting to a different one is a reasonable test if the app offers more than one.
- Expect other checks. Sites can use signals beyond IP location, and country filtering may rely on registered IP blocks, as described above.
Legal and safety limits
The available sources do not provide an authoritative, current legal analysis of VPN use in the West Bank or Gaza. Before relying on a VPN in either place, check the rules that apply to you and the terms of the service you use.

Checks before choosing a provider
This guide covers one provider’s documented route. Before subscribing to any VPN, verify the following directly:
- whether a Palestinian Territories location is currently offered
- whether it requires a paid plan
- which devices and platforms are supported
- the app’s connection steps
- the provider’s privacy policy and any independent audits
- connection reliability from your own location
- refund terms
Proton’s documentation addresses the location, plan requirement, supported platforms, and app steps. It does not establish independent audit results, reliability from a particular location, or refund terms, so those need to be checked separately.
