How to Get a Mexican IP Address in 2026: A Practical Guide

Use a VPN app with a current Mexico endpoint, connect, and verify your public IP. A Mexican IP does not change GPS or guarantee access to every service.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To make websites see a Mexican public IP address, connect to a VPN server in Mexico. Install a VPN app that currently offers a Mexican endpoint, choose Mexico (or Mexico City if available), and connect. Then check your apparent IP address. This changes your network route, not your physical location, and it does not guarantee that every website or account will accept the connection.

How to get a Mexican IP address with a VPN

  1. Check the service’s requirements. Review its access rules and account requirements first. Some services may also consider signals other than your IP address.
  2. Choose a VPN with a current Mexico location. Confirm that the provider’s app supports your device and lists a Mexico endpoint. Available locations can change.
  3. Install and sign in. Download the provider’s official app, install it, and sign in to your account.
  4. Select Mexico and connect. Choose Mexico in the location list or map; if the app offers a specific city, select that location. Connect and wait for the app to confirm the connection.
  5. Verify the result. Use an IP lookup page to check the public IP and apparent location. If a site still rejects the connection, try another Mexico endpoint if available, check for DNS or browser location leaks, and contact the VPN provider’s support.

A VPN routes traffic through its server, so a website generally sees the server’s public IP rather than your normal public IP. That can make your connection appear to come from Mexico, but it does not change GPS location, your account region, payment country, cookies, or device settings. A platform can use those signals, its own rules, or other checks when deciding whether to grant access.

VPN services with documented Mexico locations

The providers below document a Mexico location on the linked pages. They are examples, not a ranking based on independent testing. Check the current app before subscribing because endpoint availability and service access can change.

Provider What its documentation says What to check
Proton VPN Proton says to find Mexico on the map or in the country list and connect. It also describes Secure Core routing through Switzerland before the Mexico destination. Confirm the available Mexico locations and features in the app. Streaming and bandwidth statements on the provider page are provider claims, not independent verification.
ExpressVPN ExpressVPN describes selecting a Mexico City location. Check current endpoint and device support. Claims about speed, bandwidth, or access to accounts are the provider’s statements, not independent test results.
Private Internet Access (PIA) PIA says its Mexico IP is shared and that it does not currently offer a dedicated IP in Mexico. PIA advises checking the app for locations available to your account and device; see its current locations guidance.

When comparing VPNs, focus on the factors that affect your use: whether Mexico is currently listed, whether the endpoint is in Mexico City or another location, shared versus dedicated IP options, support for your device, encryption and leak protection, connection limits, and the service’s own access rules. Do not assume that a Mexico endpoint guarantees a particular streaming catalog or account will work.

Why a Mexican IP may not be enough

An IP lookup can confirm the apparent public IP, but a website may use additional checks. GPS, browser location permissions, cookies, payment details, account settings, and device configuration can all be separate from the VPN’s IP address. If the IP appears to be in Mexico but access is denied, check the website’s requirements and the VPN app’s connection and leak-protection settings rather than assuming that changing IP alone will resolve it.

VPN providers describe streaming and local-account access as use cases, but the cited provider pages do not establish independent, service-by-service compatibility. Availability can also vary over time. Follow the rules of the service you are accessing and the laws that apply where you are; these sources do not establish a single legal rule for every country or situation.

VPN or proxy: which should you use?

A proxy can reroute traffic through another server, but PIA explains that a proxy does not encrypt the connection, while its VPN does. A proxy should not be treated as an equivalent privacy tool, especially on an untrusted network, and it may require manual configuration. If encryption is part of your goal, use a VPN and review its security settings.

What to expect from shared and dedicated IPs

Some VPN locations use shared IP addresses, which means multiple customers may use the same public address. PIA specifically says its Mexico IP is shared and that it does not currently offer a dedicated IP in Mexico. If a dedicated address matters to you, check each provider’s current Mexico options directly rather than assuming one is available.
