To get a Greek public IP address while abroad, connect to a VPN server located in Greece. Install the VPN app, choose Greece, connect, then check your public IP’s reported country. This makes websites see the VPN server’s IP instead of your usual connection’s IP; it does not change your residence or guarantee that a particular service will accept the connection.
What a Greek IP address does—and does not—mean
A website can use your public IP address as one clue to your approximate network location. When you connect through a VPN endpoint in Greece, the site generally sees that endpoint’s public IP rather than the IP assigned to your ordinary internet connection. Comparitech outlines this approach in its Greek IP setup guide.

An IP address is not proof that you live in Greece. It does not give you a Greek bank identity, establish eligibility for an account, or override a service’s residence and subscription rules. A service may also detect or block VPN addresses, so a Greek IP alone does not guarantee access.
Get a Greek IP with a VPN app
- Check the service’s rules. If you need access to a particular website, app, or subscription, check its account, residence, and location requirements first. A VPN connection does not replace those requirements.
- Confirm that the VPN currently offers Greece. Server locations can change and may vary by account or device. Check the provider’s current documentation or the location list in its app before subscribing. For example, Private Internet Access lists Greece in its support page dated 2026-10-01 and says the app shows the current locations available for a particular account or device: PIA’s server-location information. PIA says its network covers 104 countries; that is the provider’s own figure, not an independent count.
- Install and sign in. Download the VPN provider’s app for your device from its official source, install it, and sign in.
- Select Greece and connect. Choose a Greek server or location in the app and start the VPN connection. These are the core steps described by Comparitech.
- Check the result. Visit an IP-check service and confirm that it reports the public IP’s country as Greece. If the country is wrong, disconnect and reconnect to a Greek location, then check again.
- If the target service still refuses access, try another Greek server. If it continues to reject the connection, contact the VPN provider or the service. A service may identify and block VPN endpoints; changing settings or clearing cookies is not a guaranteed fix.
Choose between an app and a VPN router
Both configurations rely on a VPN provider that supplies a Greek endpoint. An app routes traffic from the device where it is installed; a VPN-capable router can route traffic for devices connected through that router. Neither option guarantees that a target service will accept the VPN address.

| Option | How it works | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| VPN app on each device | Install the provider’s app and connect each device to a Greek location. | One device, or a small number of devices where individual setup is acceptable. | That the provider offers a Greek location for the relevant app and account. |
| VPN-capable router | Configure the router as a VPN client; devices connected to it use the router’s VPN connection. | Several devices or a travel setup where routing them through one connection is useful. | Router support for a protocol the VPN provider supports, and a provider account with a Greek endpoint. |
Optional: GL.iNet Beryl AX travel router
The GL.iNet Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) is a travel router with OpenVPN and WireGuard client support. GL.iNet says it supports more than 30 VPN services and can route connected-device traffic through a VPN. You still need a VPN account that offers a Greek server; the router itself does not provide a Greek public IP.
GL.iNet lists maximum local-network client-mode speeds of 300 Mbps for WireGuard and 150 Mbps for OpenVPN. Those are manufacturer specifications, not expected internet speeds: the company notes that real-world performance depends on network configuration and can differ. Your VPN provider, internet connection, router setup, and target service can all affect the result.

If you are a Greek subscriber traveling within the EU
You may not need a VPN just to use an eligible paid online-content subscription while temporarily visiting another EU country. The European Union’s official online-content portability guidance, last checked 2026-07-01, says that paid subscriptions should be accessible while traveling in another EU country as they are at home. It covers services such as TV, ebooks, games, music, and sports, subject to residence checks.
Providers may use up to two listed methods to verify residence; the EU guidance permits an IP address only in combination with another method. Portability for free online services is optional for providers. These rules concern qualifying subscribers temporarily traveling within the EU; they do not establish access for people without the relevant subscription or residence, or settle every service’s rules for access outside the EU.

What to keep in mind
- Verify the location before committing. Providers can change their server lists, and the locations available to an account or device may differ.
- Test on your own connection. Performance depends on the VPN server, protocol, device, router, and internet connection; advertised or manufacturer maximums are not a guarantee.
- Separate location from eligibility. A Greek IP may affect how a site classifies your connection, but it does not prove Greek residence or satisfy every service’s access rules.
- Expect endpoint-specific restrictions. If a service blocks one VPN address, another Greek endpoint may work, but acceptance is up to that service.
