Basecamp’s pricing FAQ says qualifying education accounts used only for class work are free, while registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits can get 10% off. You must sign up first, then submit proof; Basecamp applies an approved discount after verification, not to earlier payments. The exact eligibility and required documents depend on whether you are a teacher, student, homeschooler, or nonprofit.

See Basecamp’s pricing FAQ for the stated benefit amounts and its discount page for eligibility and application details. The nonprofit discount is specifically tied to 501(c)(3) status; the available policy does not establish a discount for other nonprofit forms.

How to apply
- Create the account first. Basecamp’s discount instructions say applicants sign up before submitting proof. Choose the account you intend to use for the qualifying classroom or nonprofit work.
- Send the required proof from the appropriate channel. Teachers and students should write from a school email account to the relevant education address and include the requested details. Nonprofits should email their 501(c)(3) paperwork to the nonprofit address.
- Wait for verification. Basecamp says it applies the discount after verifying the submitted information. Contact Basecamp if you are unsure which plan or account will receive the benefit before committing to a paid plan.
Limits to know before applying
- One account: Basecamp says it can discount one account only.
- No retroactive adjustment: Payments made before the discount begins will not be refunded or discounted.
- Program availability can change: Basecamp reserves the right to stop accepting new free or discounted accounts. It says existing recipients would continue to receive their discounts if new applications are stopped.
- Homeschool wording differs: The FAQ includes homeschoolers, while the dedicated discount page names K-12 schools and universities without mentioning homeschoolers. Ask Basecamp to confirm if you are applying as a homeschool family.
Check the regular plan and price before signup
Basecamp’s pricing page displayed these regular plan prices and limits when checked on October 7, 2026. They are page-listed prices, not guaranteed future rates. The page describes Unlimited as billed annually; it does not state an annual billing qualification for the other listed monthly prices.
