There is no documented OnePlus setting that forces the entire OnePlus 15 interface to stay at 165Hz. OnePlus specifies an adaptive 1–120Hz display, with a maximum 165Hz in gaming. For per-app requests beyond that official scope, the third-party 165 Armer project claims a rootless method for certain OnePlus 15 models running OxygenOS 16—but it relies on an undocumented interface and may stop working after an update.
What 165Hz means on the OnePlus 15
OnePlus lists the display as “1-120Hz Adaptive, Maximum 165Hz in gaming” in its official OnePlus 15 specifications. The phone runs OxygenOS 16.0 based on Android 16, according to the same page. OnePlus’s US product page describes a 6.78-inch LTPO 1.5K display with dynamic refresh up to 165Hz and attributes display data to the OnePlus Test Laboratory.

That specification does not establish a global, always-on 165Hz mode for the home screen, settings, or every app. The official pages reviewed do not provide a settings path for such a mode. Also, display refresh rate (Hz) is not the same as a game’s frame rate (FPS): OnePlus’s separate claim of always-on 120 FPS for MLBB under stated laboratory conditions concerns game performance, not a universal 165Hz display setting.
Options: official behavior or a third-party per-app request
| Approach | What it offers | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus’s official behavior | Adaptive 1–120Hz, with a maximum 165Hz in gaming, according to OnePlus’s specifications. | The reviewed official pages do not document a global 165Hz toggle or an exact settings path. |
| 165 Armer, an unofficial project | The project claims per-app choices of 60, 90, 120, 144, or 165Hz without root for OnePlus 15 models CPH2747/CPH2749 on OxygenOS 16. | It uses an undocumented OnePlus interface; compatibility is the maintainer’s claim, not independently verified across regions or firmware builds. OxygenOS updates may block it. |
If you only want the phone’s supported high refresh behavior in games, the official specification is the relevant guide. If you want to request 165Hz for particular apps, the following instructions describe the project’s published method—not an official OnePlus feature or a guaranteed result.

How to use 165 Armer without root
The 165 Armer README describes a short setup flow. It claims support for OnePlus 15 CPH2747 and CPH2749 on OxygenOS 16, with no root, Magisk, or bootloader unlock required.
- Get the APK using the download and installation directions in the project’s repository. Review the project information before installing third-party software; this is not an app distributed or endorsed by OnePlus.
- Open 165 Armer, select the app you want to configure, and choose the requested refresh rate: 60, 90, 120, 144, or 165Hz.
- Grant Usage Access only if you arm more than eight apps, as the project README says it is required in that case.
The maintainer also says the app restores armed apps after reboot and uses a watchdog. Those are project-reported behaviors, not independently verified results. The README does not establish compatibility with every regional model, firmware build, or later OxygenOS version, so confirm that your device matches the stated configuration before relying on the method.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the method may fail or behave differently
According to its README, 165 Armer calls OnePlus’s undocumented IOplusScreenMode.requestGameRefreshRate interface and detects transaction-number differences at launch. An undocumented vendor interface can change between firmware builds; the project explicitly warns that OxygenOS updates may block it. A selected rate is therefore a request through a version-sensitive mechanism, not proof that every app or screen will continuously run at that refresh rate.

A system update may have changed or blocked the interface.
- Video playback judders: The project recommends setting that video app to 60Hz.
- An app stays pinned after disarming: The project’s troubleshooting advice is to reboot.
- Battery use or heat increases: The project warns that higher refresh rates can increase both. It does not provide a quantified impact, so the effect on a particular phone cannot be stated in advance.
Bottom line
The OnePlus 15 officially supports adaptive 1–120Hz and up to 165Hz in gaming; the official information does not show how to force 165Hz across the whole system. 165 Armer offers an unofficial, rootless per-app request for specified OnePlus 15 models on OxygenOS 16, but it depends on an undocumented interface and may break with updates. Treat its instructions and compatibility as the project maintainer’s claims, not a guaranteed or manufacturer-supported setting.
