Build a Make scenario that watches an RSS feed, maps each item’s article URL into a screenshot step, then sends the resulting image to storage or another destination. You can use Make’s dedicated GetScreenshot app or call a screenshot API through Make’s HTTP app; the right choice depends on the provider’s available actions and how it returns the image.
How the RSS-to-screenshot workflow works
An RSS feed contains entries, and each entry typically includes a link to its webpage. Your scenario needs to pass that article link—not the RSS feed’s own URL—to a screenshot service. The basic flow is:

- Watch for new feed entries, or retrieve entries from a specified feed.
- Map the entry’s webpage link into a screenshot action or API request.
- Map the returned image or file into a storage, messaging, or publishing module.
Make’s RSS integration provides both Watch RSS feed items and Retrieve RSS feed items. See the Make RSS integration for the current module listing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSet up a scenario with Make’s GetScreenshot app
- Add an RSS module. In the scenario builder, choose the RSS app and select Watch RSS feed items to monitor for new entries. Choose Retrieve RSS feed items when you want to retrieve entries from a feed URL instead.
- Configure the feed. Enter the feed URL and complete any fields the selected module requires. Run the module once so Make can load a sample entry and expose its fields for mapping.
- Add GetScreenshot. Choose the dedicated GetScreenshot app and its Take Screenshot action for a webpage capture. Its documentation also lists Take Element Screenshot and email variants. You need an active GetScreenshot account and API key to create the Make connection. Check the GetScreenshot app documentation for its current connection and action details.
- Map the article URL. In the screenshot action’s URL field, select the link field from the RSS entry. Do not map the feed URL unless that is explicitly the page you want captured.
- Choose a destination. Add a storage, messaging, or publishing module after the screenshot step. Inspect the screenshot action’s output and map the actual image or file field it returns.
- Test with a real entry. Run the scenario against a publicly accessible article link, inspect the screenshot and destination output, then enable the scenario.
Module fields and output formats can vary. Confirm the live app’s available options and inspect a test run rather than assuming the screenshot will arrive as a particular file type or URL.

Call a screenshot API through Make’s HTTP app
Use Make’s HTTP app when your chosen screenshot provider has no suitable native Make integration. This route gives you control over the endpoint and request mapping, but you must configure the provider’s authentication, required parameters, and output handling according to its own API documentation.
- Add an HTTP request module. Select Make a request and enter the provider’s documented HTTPS endpoint.
- Configure authentication and request data. Follow the provider’s API instructions for API keys, OAuth 2.0, Basic Auth, query parameters, headers, and screenshot options. Map the RSS entry’s article link into the parameter the provider expects.
- Set a suitable timeout. Make documents a configurable HTTP request timeout from 1 to 300 seconds. Choose a value that fits the provider’s documented response behavior; a synchronous render may need more time than a fast cached response.
- Inspect the response. Determine whether the provider returns binary image data, a file, or a URL. Add the appropriate next module to store or deliver that output.
- Run a test and check each mapping. Confirm that the request targets the article URL and that the downstream module receives usable image data or a valid file URL.
Make’s HTTP app supports API keys, OAuth 2.0, and Basic Auth where applicable, along with Make a request, Download a file, and Resolve URL. Resolve URL follows redirects and returns the final resolved URL; it can help diagnose a redirected RSS link, but it does not capture a screenshot. The HTTP app requires HTTPS and rejects unverified self-signed certificates. See Make’s HTTP documentation for current configuration details.

Choose between the native app and HTTP
| Consideration | GetScreenshot app | HTTP API |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Create a connection using an active GetScreenshot account and API key. | Set the endpoint, authentication, parameters, and response handling using the provider’s API documentation. |
| Actions and options | Make lists Take Screenshot and Take Element Screenshot, as well as email variants; verify current fields in the app documentation. | Options depend on the selected provider’s API; confirm its current documentation. |
| Output handling | Inspect a test run to establish the available output field and map it to a destination. | Check whether the response is binary data, a file, or a URL, then use a compatible downstream module. |
| Limits and cost | Check current provider account limits and pricing. | Check the provider’s current quota, rate limits, and pricing; Make operations may also apply. |
Trigger timing and scenario behavior
Watch RSS feed items is the feed-watching trigger; do not assume that each screenshot will be captured at the instant a publisher posts. The actual timing depends on how the scenario is scheduled and the feed-check behavior. Make explains that webhook-triggered scenarios normally execute immediately when they receive external data, while polling triggers periodically check for changes when an app lacks webhooks. RSS feed watching should be configured with its actual scenario scheduling behavior in mind. See Make’s webhooks help and RSS integration.

Test and troubleshoot the workflow
- The wrong page is captured: Check the mapped value. It should be the RSS entry’s webpage link, not the feed URL or another field.
- The screenshot step cannot connect: For GetScreenshot, confirm the account is active and the API key used for the connection is valid. For HTTP, check the provider’s authentication instructions, endpoint, and required request parameters.
- The HTTP request fails on the certificate: Make requires HTTPS and rejects unverified self-signed certificates. Use a valid HTTPS endpoint supported by the provider.
- The request times out: Review the provider’s response behavior and increase the HTTP timeout within Make’s documented 1–300-second range if appropriate. A longer timeout cannot fix an endpoint that is failing or a request configured incorrectly.
- The next module cannot use the screenshot: Inspect the test response. The provider may return binary content, a file, or a URL; choose a downstream module and field mapping that match the actual response.
- The article page is inaccessible or incomplete: Test the link directly and check for login requirements, consent screens, bot defenses, or client-side rendering. The provider may offer relevant capture settings, but available controls and success depend on that provider.
- A redirected link behaves unexpectedly: Use Make’s HTTP Resolve URL action to inspect the final URL, then map the intended URL into the screenshot step.
For repeated or bulk workflows, check the screenshot provider’s current quotas, rate limits, and pricing, and account for Make operations. The available documentation does not establish universal limits, costs, or response formats across providers.

ScreenshotNeo can capture an RSS item’s linked page with one GET request. Its API accepts the webpage URL and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; use the response format and behavior described in the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
In Make, use the HTTP app to call the ScreenshotNeo endpoint over HTTPS, pass your access key and mapped RSS article URL as request parameters, then map the response to a destination that accepts the returned file. Confirm the response handling in a test run. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I capture an RSS feed page instead of each linked article?
Yes. Map the feed URL if the feed page itself is what you intend to screenshot; otherwise map each entry’s article link.
Does the screenshot run instantly when a new RSS item appears?
Not necessarily. Timing depends on the scenario schedule and feed-check behavior.
