To preview a Squarespace portfolio, save your changes, open the site’s visitor-style preview, and check the relevant device layout. To share it, choose the link that matches what you want someone to see: a password-protected draft preview for one unpublished page, a site-wide password for a private trial site, or the visitor-facing URL for a published or Not linked page. Never send a logged-in editing URL containing /config.
Preview your portfolio before sharing it
Squarespace’s preview controls differ between versions 7.1 and 7.0. Save your work first, then follow the workflow for your site version. In 7.1, animations play in preview, and exiting the editor hides its toolbar so you can interact with the page more like a visitor. See Squarespace’s preview instructions.

Squarespace 7.1
- Save your changes in the editor.
- Exit the editor.
- Select the preview icon in the upper-right corner.
- Use the device-view controls to inspect the design at different screen sizes.
Squarespace 7.0
- Save your changes and return to the main menu.
- Hover at the top-left of the site preview.
- Select the arrow to enter full preview.
Check the visitor experience
- Open the site in an incognito or private browser window to see what an unauthenticated visitor sees. Squarespace notes this is particularly useful for checking embedded code that may not display while you are logged in.
- Review mobile and other device views. Squarespace also says its app can be used to check a site on mobile.
- For a wider-screen layout check, you can zoom out in your browser. Restore zoom to 100% before editing.
Share one unpublished page with a reviewer
If page drafts are available for your site, share the draft’s Preview URL rather than publishing the page just to get feedback. Squarespace’s draft-page workflow is described in its guide to drafting pages.

- Create a password, then copy the Preview URL.
- Send the reviewer both the URL and password.
Who can configure sharing depends on the reviewer’s role and the site’s permissions. Website managers and administrators can configure sharing permissions; eligible editors can share a URL with other website contributors. A reviewer outside your organization may need a manager or administrator to set the appropriate permissions.

When the page is approved, you can publish it to replace the live page. Squarespace warns that this publish-and-replace operation cannot be reverted to the original page through that workflow. If the draft contains a form block, reconnect its storage before publishing if you want the form to work.
Share a published page or a page outside navigation
For a page visitors can already access, copy its visitor-facing URL. Do not send a URL containing /config: that is a logged-in editing address, and recipients may be taken to a login screen. Squarespace explains the alternatives in Sharing URLs from your site.

Published page
Open the page in an incognito or private window and copy the address-bar URL. This helps confirm that you have the link visitors can use, rather than an editor link.

Not linked page
A Not linked page is not included in navigation, but that alone does not password-protect it. While logged in, open the page, enter full preview, and copy the address-bar URL. If your site uses a custom domain, use that domain in the link instead of the built-in Squarespace domain when Squarespace’s instructions call for it.

Squarespace portfolio pages are available in version 7.1. If a portfolio page is the homepage, its sub-page URLs can omit the portfolio page slug. Test the exact URL you plan to send before sharing it; see Squarespace’s portfolio guide.
Share a whole private or trial site
Trial sites are private by default. To let someone review the whole site as a visitor without giving them editing access, set a site-wide password and share the built-in domain without /config. Squarespace says password-protected trial sites can be viewed on mobile and remain hidden from search engines while password protection is enabled. Site Availability can be set to public, password-protected, or hidden. Publishing publicly requires a paid subscription; public sites can be accessed through connected domains and may be indexed by search engines. The site-wide password is shared among visitors, not unique to each person, so use contributor permissions when individual access is necessary. See Publish or hide your site.
