To forward a Google Calendar invite, open the invitation email and forward it to the person you want to invite. This works only if the organizer allows guests to invite others. A recipient who responds is added to the event’s guest list, and forwarding can affect your RSVP—so it is not just a way to share event details privately.
How do I forward a Google Calendar invite?
- Open the email invitation for the event.
- Choose your email service’s forward option and enter the intended recipient’s email address.
- Send the forwarded invitation. If the event allows guests to invite others, the recipient can respond to the invite and join the guest list. Why can’t I forward the invitation?
The organizer may have disabled the “Invite others” permission. Google says the organizer must allow this permission or update the event’s permissions for a guest to forward an invitation. What happens when someone receives a forwarded invite?
Forwarding brings the recipient into the event’s invitation flow, rather than giving them a private, view-only copy. If they respond, they are added to the guest list. Google also warns that forwarded recipients may see updated event details, invite additional people, and change the forwarding guest’s RSVP. If you only want to share information without adding someone to the event, send a separate message containing only the details that person should see. Do not forward the invitation for that purpose.

Can I stop guests from forwarding my event invite?
Yes. As the organizer, edit the event and turn off “Invite others” in the guest permissions. Google’s mobile guidance refers to the corresponding control as “Guests can add others.” The setting prevents guests from forwarding invitations to add new invitees; labels and placement can vary across devices and product updates. Can I forward an invite to someone without Google Calendar?
Google allows organizers to invite anyone with an email address, including people who do not use Google Calendar. A recipient can receive the invitation email, but its display and how the recipient handles an RSVP depend on their email and calendar service.
